((She probably wouldn't. The origin of the honorific was so that dragons could say riders' names more easily. So Emyrith would handle Vena just fine. ^.^))

Starflight Nikiana ((Females have the option of shortening their name. *pokes R'ign* Tis up to them, though most tend not to... *shrugs*)) ((I'd noticed. But really, how do you shorten Vena? It's short enough already! mrgreen )) ((Just put it in there and make V'ena?))

One of the eggs went still for a moment, this absence of motion amidst all of its kin drew Ray's attention and she watched the egg, hoping that the dragonet inside was okay. After a moment she released a held breath as it tipped, spinning slightly, a small hole visible amid a cluster of cracks. The egg rocked on its rounded side and the cracks spread, finally shattering as the hatchling inside stretched.
Suddenly another egg opened with a very loud CRACK, thunderous, and a large brown... no, it was a bronze! A third one!
Ray glanced back at the other and gasped, for an instant reliving her own Impression. A bright green dragonet, a bit larger than normal, with sparkling gold markings was resting amid the shards of her egg.
... is that...?
No, Wrath replied. She is an ordinary green, infertile. Ray nodded slightly, still somewhat bemused by the sight.
Another green erupted from her egg in a burst of energy, creeling, then tripping over her own feet, hurried to the side of Lireal. You hurt!
Following the concerned green, the bronze made a pleased sound, happy to find the person he was looking for. You are mine! he crowed happily at Narin.
Then, as several other eggs began to crack, the gold-marked green began to move, pausing from time to time to rest and find her balance, head turning from side to side. Finally she froze, extending her neck toward several candidates before moving decisively, much more quickly than her earlier gait, to stand before Freya. Are you going to feed me now?
Ray hadn't noticed the brown that'd hatched, but it was steady on its legs fairly quickly, and without pausing to look around, made his way toward Asherak. I choose you!

I choose you!
Asherak's eyes snapped open to look down at a little brown dragonet - Kelenth. He wasn't entirely sure how he knew the brown's name, just that he knew it.
Of course you knew it. You are mine.
Still, Asherak stood staring at the brown dragonet. His mind had not yet picked up on what had happened. Kelenth butted his head against Asherak's legs.
You are A'erak. You are mine. I chose you. Now you will take me to find food.
Belatedly A'erak knelt down and threw his arms around the brown, "Forgive me. I was sure that I was too late. I didn't think any dragon would choose me... but you did! You're the most wonderful dragon ever!"
And now we will go find food.
"Yes! Of course!" A'erak climbed to his feet and led Kelenth out of the hatching grounds toward the bowls of meat.

Are you going to feed me now? Came the gentle, plaintive voice in Freya's mind. The poor girl turned, shocked, to see the most gorgeous dragon she had ever seen craning its neck towards her. I am Sulaith.
Yes, beloved, yes you are, said Freya, dropping to ner knees, oblivious to the heat. Her eyes fell on the shining gold streaks along the green's body. Although, you look as if you couldn't decide what to be...
I am Sulaith and I am yours, she responded, with a slight note of confusion. What else would I be? Nothing short of perfect, said Freya reassuringly. And very very hungry. She added, her eyes now whirling orange.
Freya let out a sound that was in reality a laugh, but it came out more like a sob. She realized with surprise that tears were streaming down her face. Well then, let's find you something to eat...

You are mine! Narin blinked in utter surprise as the bronze stumbled its way towards him. I have found you at last and you are mine. I am Ardeth, said his new bonded lifemate matter-of-factly. And I am very hungry.
Narin (now N'rin)was never one for words, and he floundered for a moment, speechless, worldessly helping to disentangle Ardeth from his mass of limbs and wings. He wrapped his arms around his beloved's neck and finally said, you are the best dragon in all of Pern!
I am also the hungriest, said the bronze, eyes whirling, and N'rin felt his intense, knawing hunger echoed in his own belly even though he had eaten lunch only a few hours before. I'll find you some food.

L'rin chuckled as Ryneth yawned hugely and scratched an eyeridge gently. "Sleepy, little one?"
A sleepy affirmative nod. Yes, I wish to sleep. The little blue butted his head against L'rin's legs affectionately. He was a bit smaller than his blue clutchsibs, but L'rin wasn't worried. He wasn't very tall himself, and he was of a light build. They'd suit just fine.

R'ign blinked as a green hatchling with gold markings made its way forward. That one looked a lot like...
She is just a green, Mine.
R'ign nodded. Thought that had been thought of Wrath as well... But Kerth seemed quite confidant.
-------------------------------------
Natelin watched as another bronze hatched. He'd known it. There was the other bronze. The boy watched as the hatchling passed right by him and Impressed to another boy. Sighing, Natelin turned back to the rocking eggs. Surely there was one in there for him, right?
-------------------------------------
Neola's mind wasn't even on the Hatching anymore. The poor girl was lost in her sorrow, having buried it deep in her mind. All that repressed emotion was surfacing now. Why now? The girl fought through the waves of sorrow, only to resurface and spot another brown hatchling.
Tears filled her eyes and she retreated backwards, at the very back of the group now. She must put these feelings aside. Neola fought hard to keep her mind on the Hatching.

Tolara and Glith watched the hatching quietly from the nearest seat to the entrance. The goldrider leaned against the gold, a warm smile on her face.

((OMG, sooooooooo sorry I'm late! stressed ))
Prying her gaze from the sight of Halenar and his blue, Reina turned to look amongst the other Candidates still standing. Suddenly, she gasped at the sight of a green hatchling with gold markings on her. So beautiful! When the lovely green approached another white-robed Candidate, she again looked out in the Sands, heart pounding as she searched for the sight of an unhatched egg.

Akai Kopi and Tolyth were sitting off to the side where the hatchlings were eating. Tollyth's gullet was alredy stuffed and his stomach was expanded a bit.. making him look quite fat really.
She chuckled soflty as he nuzzled her tummy dozing on her lap. After hed finished eating ( with akai making sure he didn't choak himself and making sure kopi didn't over eat) He'd licked his snout (( are we calling it snout or muzzle? i can't remember))) and promply climbed onto akai's lap, and started to doze.
Akai explored this new connection she had, since Tollyth was slumbering she could feel only faint things and emotions. He shifted and Akai winced since his hind foot was digging into her leg. Carefully she adjusted his foot and relaxed.
She needed 2 things now. Numbweed for her feet they had definatly gotten a bit burned, and a dragonhealer to look at kopi.
Akai sighed thinking about how drastickly her life had just changed. She had just gone from a nothing drudge to a dragonrider. She smiled soflty Tollyth.. her tollyth.. just as she was his. Something she'd never in her life imigined would happen.
Kopi shifted and nuzzled into her hair a bit more sleeping peacefully thanks to the numbweed the healer had put on him fresh during the hatching. Akai made a mental note to thank her properly later. For now she was watching the rest of the canidates getting matched up to there dragons.
"What will i do though" she murmmus to herself absently rubbing Tollyth's eyeridge as he shifted to get closer to her hand.
"I don't know how to be a dragonrider.. what if i mess up and tollyth gets hurt.. or what if the other dragon riders won't accpt me..." she nibbled her bottom lip looking at the others feeding and playing with there new hatchlings.. quite a few looking as sleepy as Tollyth. though none dozing quite yet it seemed.
Tollyth shifted and lifted his head looking directly into Akai's eyes.
You think much to heavy thoughts mine his voice made soft whine in her head..
"I'm sorry Tollyth.. i didn't mean to wake you.." she rubbed his head gently admiring the soft hide that was such ana amazing blue.
You worry to much mine. They will like you. You are with me! And if they do not. You will always have me. He added. then layed back down his head on her stomach again and drifted back off. Akai coudln't help but laugh
"You're quite right Tollyth.." she said soflty. "I have you and Kopi.. that's all that really matters." She smiled again watching as another dragon got matchedup. Not to much longer she didn't think, but she couldn't see very well from her position on the floor and off to the side.
"All i have to do now is figure out how i'm going to adjust being anything but a drudge.." she sighed soflty her eyes travling over the others and the croud. She couldn't beleive she'd not noiced them all. She hsuddered a bit and rubbed tollyth's head to keep him sleeping peacefully.
"I wonder where we go from here.." she added looking around a bit more, nobody seemed to be leaving, undoubtadly they would be told where to go after all the hatching was done..

Rodinth had finished expanding the hide covering his belly and was now dozing with his head on A'rai's lap as they watching the rest of the Hatching. A'rai gently stroked Rodinth's eyeridges as she watched ordered chaos rein over the burning sands and smiled sadly. She was a dragonrider now! She didn't think Dilian would remember her once Rodinth grew up and they flew over to see him. She wondered if she would be allowed to go back to Harper Hall to find Tolan and get her stuff... Would I be able to come, mine? A sleepy voice interrupted her thoughts. She looked down at her brown and smiled, attempting to speak the same way. I don't know, love. Perhaps. Even I may not be able to go... That is too bad mine. I would like to see this Tolan and Dilian... Tolan is my blue flit. Dilian is... Dilian. Even I don't really know what was going on between us... Will you know later? Perhaps... She left it at that. --- Osseyth was starting to slow down noticeably, B'ren could tell. Finally, the bronze stopped and laid his bronzy head down on B'ren lap, angling it so he could watch the Hatching. Won't you get something to eat, mine? B'ren looked startled. How did he know that I hadn't had lunch yet? he unconsciously thought aloud. Our minds and feelings are connected, mine. Osseyth responded, causing B'ren to jerk in surprise. Osseyth grumbled before resettling. I talk to you this way, did you not think you could do the same? Well... B'ren was amazed. Could I always do this? I do not know, mine. But you can always talk to me like this, mine, if you wish. So... awesome... was the only response. Osseyth chuckled, as only a dragon can.

((Heh. Poor Neola. She was attached to the watchwher for... around 6 or 7 Turns, I'd say. They were close. *nods* ^^" Don't torture her even more... *points to the brown* xd ))
R'ign smiled at the group of weyrlings, most of the hatchlings starting to nod off in sleep. The poor things were always so worn out, most just staying awake long enough to stuff themselves with food before passing out. Her eyes fell upon Akai and she reminded herself to get that new dragonhealer to look over the flit. Mostly to reassure the girl, if nothing else.
-----------------------
P'las was rather proud of the clutch, that feeling rubbing off from Pericolath. Three bronzes thus far! Peri rumbled happily. After all, he was the father. He had reason to be so smug. That green was interesting. A smile graced the man's face as the fond memories of his own Impression came to him.
Pericolath had been the last dragon to hatch, and the largest of the two bronzes the clutch had resulted in. The bronze had waited until all his clutchsiblings had hatched and had gathered the full attention of the cavern before breaking his shell. He had slowly made his way to the group of boys, taunting them with hopes of Impression. His taunts were cut short as his hunger overtook him and he turned his head towards P'las and Impression occured.
