Kaleb was startled as the being landed in front of him, but the source of that scratchy voice in his headphones wasn't as frightening as he had first imagined.

He blinked in a confused manner as the music in his headphones ceased. He took them off and examined them, but he really couldn't see anything that would have made them stop working. He turned a questioning glance up at the creature in front of him.

Closing its eyes the being seemed to concentrate, it could feel the gaze of the other on it.

Those whom could sence magic increases and decreases, would have no problem sencing this. Power seemed to flow into invisile waves out of its left paw.

Raising its eyes as quickly as it closed them, they changed to a descrete bright gold. Snapping its fingers one more time, the magic waves vanished, and the music to kaleb's headphones returned.

Eyes changing back to there normal color, the being grinned. "And its done."

Kaleb was startled by the magic he felt, it was completely unlike anything he had ever encountered before, and he had no idea how to even start interpreting it's effects. He held his rising fear firmly in check, as the creature had said, it was done.

"Th-thank you," he replied, for the first time really looking the creature in the eyes. Even though they frightened him, making him stronger was something that required some thanks on his part. Even if it the bargain he made wasn't in his favour, he would be grateful.

"No thanks needed." It said and gave a small bow.

There was no need to stick around. Backing up as if it was falling off the balcony it flapped its wings at the last second, and took off into the sky, only to disapear into the clouds.

"Dont forget our pact." Was the last words spoken.

Kaleb watched the creature leave, for some reason feeling more scared and frightened now that he was all alone. A part of him wished he had just been able to find those coupons and get back to the shop for ice cream with his friends, instead of having to worry about the second part of the bargain, which he had yet to experience. Still, what was done was done.

He fidgeted with his headphones a bit before replacing them over his ears as he stepped back inside his apartment. Immediately he felt a splitting pain run through his body, making him gasp and cry out weakly. It was more intense than anything he had ever experienced, and the sickening sound of flesh and fabric tearing only added to the sensation that he was being torn apart. The agony continued as a pair of wings and a second tail grew from his body, a grotesque process of unnatural tissue growth starting with the bones and working through exposed muscle, nerves, veins, skin, and finally fur and feathers.

By the time Kaleb was able to think clear enough to realize he had collapsed during the event, the pain had receded to something just short of the first blinding agony. It took him time to think through the pain and figure out he had fallen on his side, although he had sensation from his new limbs, he didn't realize they were the source of the unfamiliar proprioceptive awareness. He could also feel the blood dripping down his back and across his wings and tail, but he was unaware of how much of it had soaked into the carpet behind him and matted into his clothing, fur, and feathers. He would have fainted for sure if he had been able to see himself. When he finally opened his eyes, the first thing he noticed was the soft and comforting glow coming from just above his head.

"Though ... i mean i'd think he'd know where tha kinda stuff is." He scrunched his nose. He didn't like how long it was taking Kaleb. I mean it wasn't like he couldn't afford to pay for it all.

"True...."

For a few moments, Demyx fidgeted around slightly, mind torn between thoughts of ice cream, and thoughts about his missing friend.

"M-maybe...we should go check on him? I could take us there..."

His shoulders stiffened slightly. He did want to check up on Kaleb but he didn't like those portal things. "Umm .... i'm not ... portals aren't exactally my favorite thing."

After lying on his side for a few minutes to recover and adjust to the pain, Kaleb figured he should get up or something, so he could find those coupons and apologize to Demyx and Riley for keeping them waiting. He tried to sit up, and didn't get past tensing his muscles in preparation for the move before crying out in pain and going still again. That wasn't good...

Blinking back tears, he thought about getting his cell phone and calling Riley, but his phone was in the pocket of his pants, on the side he was lying on. Not good at all...

He started to feel scared again, since he was unable to move and had no way of contacting his partner or anyone for help. The best thing he could do was to stay calm and ignore the pain, try to keep his frightened trembling under control, and hope his friends would come looking for him when they started to wonder why he hadn't returned. He tried to focus on the calming light shining from somewhere just out of view, to distract himself from his pain and worry.

"I don't really like them either, but it's the fastest way I can travel...and the fastest way we can go check on Kaleb..."

Demyx fidgeted, growing more nervous as the seconds ticked by. Something just wasn't sitting right with him...

"I'll go alone, if you want to stay here and wait..."

"Why can't people have fast ways to move that don't involve moving space around." He grumbled for a moment.

"If he got hurt yer gonna need help ta move those books ..." Demyx would probably have to shove him though a portal to actually get him to go.

It didn't take Kaleb too long to figure out that just trying to stay calm and still wasn't helping his anxiety any, since the waiting just made his shaking worse, and that just made him hurt worse, which made him more anxious.

The little mage bit his lip and tried to use his magic to get his phone out, but the energy seared through his wounded body like fire and he had to let go before he could even form a spell with it. He took a shuddering breath as he recovered, and felt an unruly tear drip down his cheek as he lay still to wait for someone to rescue him.

Demyx stiffened at the word 'hurt'. If someone had hurt Kaleb...they'd have one angry Nobody on their a**. Biting back the thought, the sitarist raised a paw to form a portal. Giving a quick glance to Riley, the blonde snagged him and attempted to chuck him through before following after. The portal, though cold and rather unpleasant, would dump them right into Kaleb's apartment after a short walk. To Demyx, suffering for a moment was far better than walking to long way and worrying the whole time.

"Ack! Shi.....t" He landed on his hands and knees by Kaleb's apartment after stumbling though the very weird portal. That was defiantly worse than Kaleb's. The Mage's didn't make his skin crawl.

Kaleb heard a noise nearby, and his ears perked hopefully. He jerked his head around to see if it was Demyx or Riley, but the movement sent sharp jarring pains through him and he couldn't help but whimper as more tears came to his eyes.
