The young adult blinked, taken aback. Part of him wanted to laugh, which came out as a sharp bark. "N...no. Maidh's my twin. My brother." Although it was humorous that his brother had been mistaken for a female by name it was not enough to keep his worried thoughts at bay for long.
"We've always done everything together." Again he looked away.

Nunzio popped his eyes open when the male said that and he looked at him in shock, not expecting the other to be his brother, his twin brother. He actually laughed at that, his deep guffaw echoing a bit in the valley. Once he got his mirth back under control, he let out another sigh, looking to the male, "Well, be that as it may, twin or no twin, you should not let him dictate how you are around others. You are still your own Kitsu and you shouldn't worry about what he will think. Especially if it makes my daughter upset..." he said, frowning a little.

The big male laughing drew his attention, ears lifting and twitching, brow crinkling in utter confusion. But being reminded that he had hurt Lucia had him upset and defensive. Now that he was not immediately pummeled.
"I didn't mean to make her upset! I was trying not to! I don't even know what I did!" Vana was pacing, not even sure when he had jumped to his paws as he vented everything. "I only wanted to be with her... just to see her... spend time with her... what was I supposed to do? Randomly stop sometime and just say 'hey, I think you're perfect and I'm falling in love with you'? Sure. Great idea. I'm sure that would've gone over real well. Frightened her away for sure. And when would have been a good time? by the lake? while racing? oh I know... when she tripped and I was terrified she'd gone & broke her leg or something. yeah. that's it. 'by the way I love you. Are you all right?' "
Vanafindon rolled his eyes, mocking what he might have said in a very juvenile fashion with the tone of his voice and jerky side to side head motions as he made jibes at himself. Oddly enough, he didn't seem to be paying much attention that Nunzio was there much less the lady in discussion's father. "And I'm sure it'll go over real well with Maidh. He'd not only tease me... he'd tease her. I know, 'cause that's what I'd do to him." Shame darkened his light face. "No.... I couldn't. Lucia doesn't deserve that!" But even in anguish her name fell from his mouth with loving reverence.

Nunzio didn't say anything, a look on his face that was cross between amused and bewildered as he moved his head along with the males pacing, his head still tilted in his paw. This male...he amused him so. "You don't necessarily have to tell her that you love her....but court her, let her know that her feelings are reciprocated and that you wish to get to know her and maybe one day....become something more." he said, rubbing at his head and wishing he didn't feel so old now.
"And do not worry so much about your brother. My daughter is alot stronger then her light colored fur indicates. She can take alot of teasing and give it back tenfold." he said, smirking.

Vana yelped and jumped as the other male spoke, startled. Everything he had just said came crashing down on him as his eyes went wide. Then wider still at the suggestion.
"C..court her?" That had its merits, and eye-spotted tails began to move as Vana let himself think about it. Court her... and her own father was okay with this? There was a flare of hope in his blue eyes which dimmed just as quickly though not completely within moments. "I didn't think she had feelings..." Open mouth insert foot -make eyes widen in horror. "No! I mean, I know she has feelings... just I didn't think she might have feelings for me."
"I... don't want her to have to take a lot of teasing. Not from Maidh. Not 'cause of me..."

"You do not need to worry about her getting her feelings hurt. If she can take constant teasing from 4 different males, she can take the teasing from your brother, believe me. I've watched her grow up, she can handle herself just fine." he said in reassurance, scratching at an itche behind his ear. "Courting her would probably be a step in the right direction. You know she feels something strong for you, it would help if you can help build it stronger." he advised.

"No I didn't. How was I s'possed to know?" Vana pouted softly as he absorbed what was said. He really wanted to build it stronger... he would find a way.
Just then he looked at Lucia's father with an entirely different sort of surprise than he had shown thus far. It shifted into a nervous crooked smile. "uh... I'm Vanafindon, by the way. I... well, Lucia's more important than exchanging names, isn't she?" Now his eyes gleamed with love & hope. Maybe... just maybe...

Nunzio gave a small smile, "Well, despite how it started, it is a pleasure to meet you Vanafindon. My name is Nunzio. And yes, I would think she is more important. Don't fret so much, things will turn out better then you expect. Heh, I was a nervous wreck when I asked Lucia's mother to be my mate..." he said, a dreamy look going into his green eyes at the thought of his mate.

He grinned, tails daring to wag a little. "Nunzio. Cool. Nice to have a name to call you, rather than thinking of you as Lucia's dad all the time." Okay. That went rather well. Maybe there was something to this not worrying thing. But this was new territory. It was okay to be a little worried, right?
Then Nunzio mentioned the 'm' word, and not 'mother' either.
"eh.... " Vana flushed crimson, feeling uncomfortably warm from head to tail. Mate talk with Lucia's father?!? And now Vana was thinking about it... about maybe Lucia.... gah!! No thoughts like that in front of her father! gah!
He shook his head then looked with a pained expression at the larger male. It was his fault! Nunzio had put the notion into his head! ... at that moment anyway.
But now Vana was contemplating it. Mates? He had not really thought much past wanting to spend time with Lucia. But Mates? It sounded like something in someone else's world, but not something distasteful by any means.

Nunzio silently watched him out of the corner of his eye and he couldn't help but smirk lightly. He was getting a secret dad thrill at watching Vanafindon squirm at the thought of mates and mating. The large male finally stood up and shook his fur out, stretching out his long legs and large wings. "Well, we better get to the HQ, I am sure Lucia is worried I have buried your body somewhere." he said in a joking manner.

Oh if Vana had stopped to realize Nunzio might be watching him, then the larger male would have really gotten a show. As it was, when the striped male stood and mentioned burying Vana's body the younger male panicked and flailed, jumping and landing wiith his legs splayed out like a stool's. His tails were stiff and out, wings and ears pressed against him, his blue eyes wide and darting around nervously.
Then it registered that Nunzio was joking & he gave a shaky, embarrassed laugh. Only moments before his thoughts filled with Lucia once again. "Do you... do you really think she's worried? About me?" He wanted to know how she felt about him to be sure, but primarily in his tone was concern: concern that he might be making her worried.
Figuring the direction to HQ Vana waited for the other to lead, though it was clear from the way his legs shifted upon the ground that the lovestruck male was ready to be off.

Nunzio couldn't help but let out a loud laugh when the smaller male fell over like that, wiping tears of mirth from his eyes. As much as he dreaded the day his daughters would grow up and find loves of their own, he did look forward to messing with the heads of said males.
"Yes Vanafindon, I am sure she is worried about you. Now let us go before you become to frightened to fly." he said playfully, flapping his large, black wings and lifting his large body into the air.

He did not need to be told twice! Okay, maybe he did. That was the second time Nunzio said they should leave, right? Flapping his blue wings Vana leaped into the air beside the male who might (hopefully?) be akin to his father-in-law someday. If Vana was lucky. If he could stop thinking about it and figure out a way to actually court Lucia....
"Not frightened to fly." Vanafindon said with a slight frown, attempting to gain some dignity back. Other than that he was silent, fretting that Lucia might be worried. He did not want her to be worried.

Nunzio chuckled to himself as he climbed higher into the air and then lead the way back to the HQ. He stayed silent as he flew onward, dondering if he should tell anyone else, but then thought better of it. He had a feeling the females in his family would box his ears and then Peatree would chew them off once they were through with him.
Seeing the HQ below, he started his descent and he was pleased to see Lucia pacing in front of the building and he landed, folding his wings along his back.
Hearing the sound of wings, Lucia immediately looked up and her body filled with relief to see her father and Vana coming. Once her father landed, she rushed toward him, but when she stopped before him, she lifted a paw up and whacked him upside his much larger head. Ignoring his yelp, she proceeded to yell at him for scaring her like that and probably scaring Vana and threatening to tell all the females in the family and Mama. All the while, Nunzio had shrunk down before his daughter, ears drooped down and looking like a frightened puppy. Yes, Lucia was defienetely alot stronger then her color indicated.

Vana's heart soared seeing her again, thrilling to see the way her body moved once more. He landed a back and to the right of the larger male, delighting to see her run... and hit her father?
Stunned did not begin to describe Vana's expression & stance as the pale furred female cowed her own father. It was surprising and somehow... invigorating to see. His heart swelled with love for her, even seeing this new side of her. Then his ear twitched and he felt he should intervene. Even if it was entertaining to see the large angelic cowering before his smaller daughter.
He padded slowly over to her, glanced sideways at Nunzio before dipping his head & ever so lightly and tentatively touched his cheek to hers. "Lucia.... it's okay. He just loves you."
