Jeff stumbled back but made no effort to steady himself. He toppled over and sat on the ground. He closed his eyes and had to remind himself that he wasn't here to pick a fight with her. After a while he finally spoke. "I think it's more even now. She's alive still isn't she? Well as alive as a vampire is."

Luka knelt down next to Jeff. She wrapped a hand around his neck and lifted his head. "You're still not getting this are you?" She slammed his head into the floor. "You could have ruined everything."

Jeff swung his leg around and knocked Lukas feet from under her. His face was bloody and he was pretty sure his nose was broken. "Could have, but didn't. Get over it sweetheart."

Luka snapped her leg out and kicked Jeff somewhere rather important. "Oh hell no. I like you Jeff, and I think you are fantastic for my brother, but that does not mean you get to just waltz in here and start running my show." She left a matching set of claw marks on the other side of his face.

Jeff rolled just out of her reach. "So taking your anger out on me, will somehow make everything better? What the ******** is wrong with you woman?" Jeff hooked her arm and got a grip on the back of her head, which he smashed into the wall.

Luka stumbled away, blood dripping down her face and matting her hair. "What the hell is wrong with me is some prissy self righteous b*****d who not only jeopardized the mission, but has also all but out right challenged my place in this pack." Luka growled and crouched into a fighting stance.

Jeff rolled his eyes. "Like hell I want your place in the pack." He put his hands on his hips and shifted his weight to one side.

Luka pounced and shoved Jeff to the ground, landing neatly on top of him. "That's why I didn't just come in here and kill you." She dug her nails into Jeff's chest and started to slowly drag her hand down. "You keep pushing it and I'm going to conveniently forget all the reasons we need you alive." She stood up and headed for the bathroom. "I'm going to wash this blood out of my hair so no one calls the cops during my walk home. Then I'll leave you to yourselves."

Jeff stood up calmly and leaned against the wall in the living room while he waited for her to clean up. He didn't say anything but kept his face neutral.

Jeff nodded at him. "She's cleaning up." Then he went back to staring at the bathroom door.

Yakov was kind of afraid to move so he just stayed there clinging to the door frame. Eventually, Luka came skipping out of the bathroom.
"Have a good day boys. I'll let you know when I've figured out what we're doing with Brittany." She bounced out the front door and slammed it closed behind her.

Jeff didn't budge. He waited till he was sure she was out of ear shot before he crumbled to the ground, holding his chest, whining, and trying like hell not to cry.
