Naiad stumbles further down the path, the fear and wish to leave still strong in her. She sees the faces in the fog and her eyes widen in fright. She did not remember them before and it really bothered her. All of them had different emotions displayed on them as well and they kept shifting.
She finally sees a larger platform below and hopes for a rest before she gets out of here. However as soon as she gets there the fog swirls and a figure appears sword in hand. Shivering and gripping her fan tightly she looks for a place to run. Then as it attacks she dodges and slices at it before running to another part of the platform, she just wanted to go away! she didn't want to die!

However much to her dismay it kept coming with a yelp she quickly hit it again when it got to close before running. She just hoped that her hits slowed the thing down enough for her to run. this time however she completely missed and nearly got hit full on with that sword herself. She managed to dodge in time but the thing still nicked her and she whimpered.

Having to dodge again while tired and filled with the need to run away from the creature in fright was not fun. She yelped as the sword nicked her again and she tried to hit it once more so she could get away. This time she knew she had hit it, but it kept coming and her eyes widens as she ran.

Whimpering in fright she tried once more to hit it as it cornered her and grazed her arm. This time though when she hit it, it became mist once more and she was left panting from terror and elation that she could get off the platform now.

Naiad gets to her feet to find that the faces are gone as well. Running to the other side of the platform she quickly continues her downward descent. She thought for a moment though that the fog that had faces before had limbs now but shook it off as she descended into the fog once again. Then she feels the hands reaching for her through the fog and her eyes widen. She feels one of the hands managing to cover her mouth and she finds it hard to breathe. She shakes and quickly yanks at it until it is yanked free. She then picks up her step. She had to get out of here!

Naiad then feels something trip her and somehow she manages to stay on the platform. All she can see past the edge of the platform though is just more fog. She gulps as a bit of the edge of the platform falls into the abyss.

Naiad yelps as her legs are pulled into involuntary splits, knocking to the platform once again. She feels a bit dizzy but somehow gets back to her feet.

She then yelps as between platforms she is grabbed and knocked into the abyss. Tears fall as she herself does. She knows better than trying to bring out her wings. She has a feeling that would be a bad idea. yet she feels also as if she passed as her descent slows.

Naiad sighs and wipes her eyes as the fog thickens and somehow causes her to float down to a checkerboard tiled floor. It looked like another island to Naiad, but she couldn't be sure. Then she spots the glowing orbs in the center of the odd floor. Walking up to them she smiles slightly and takes one.
As she takes one she feels the memories of the cowardly one fade and she feels herself taken back to the surface.

By now he was not sure what waited in the fog. Because at first he'd thought it was grief, but the second descent had brought a ferocious sort of pleasure that had made him appreciate people like Coyote and Licraesa all the more.
He hesitated before he stepped gingerly into the mist.
They blotted out the horizon. He shuddered, his weapon rattling in his grip - no, no, he could not face them! He did not want to die! All around him his fellows stood, staring straight ahead, still and stiff at attention as if they were already dead, dead and propped up to wait for final judgement. With a moan, he dropped his weapon and ran through the silent ranks, feeling sick and worthless-
And now he was afraid. Terribly, terribly afraid--and, worse, ashamed for being afraid.
One of those dim flickers of memory returned. It said: you're just scared, sweetie. It's OK. It scared me and your father too. No one's ever ready for a baby, not really.
