As they entered the common room, Marketa looked up at Ian. "Well...see you later Ian." She then proceeded to run up to her dorm to find something to wear, being devastated to see she didn't have much. It would take a fancy bit of Transfiguration to get this dress suitable.

Ian smiled to himself. He looked over at James and Lily. "Shouldn't you two be getting ready?" he asked. With that, he started walking up the stairs to the boys' dormitory.

James jumped and looked at Lily. "He's right, we should be getting ready. Meet you down here later?" He scratched the back of his head to accompany a crooked smile.

Franki yelled out the password and walked with Sirius through the portrait hole. "Well, I'm going to go get ready," she said. She smiled up at him, her eyes sparkling. She kissed his cheek and went towards the stairs of the girls' dorm.

Marketa looked up at Franki when she entered. "You getting ready for de dance too? I heard you were going wit Sirius Black. You're a lucky gerl." She smiled and turned to herself in the mirror. The smile abruptly faded. It was one of her everyday dresses but a little nicer, little pink flowers adorned on periwinkle blue. It only went to her mid-shins and she didn't have any good shoes, instead she was wearing her normal chunky shoes and thick wool socks. She really was hopeless.

"Hey, Marketa," Franki said, noticing Marketa's unhappy expression. "I heard you are going with Ian. He'll treat you right, trust me. And I think these," Franki pulled out a pair of strappy black high heels, "will look great with your dress." Franki smiled and handed the heels to Marketa then went back to her trunk to find her dress.
((oh, i drew a picture of Franki in her dress. I'll post it on deviantart tonight or tomorrow so you can see what she looks like.))

Marketa smiled at Franki. "Wow, tanks. I promise I'll take care of your shoes." She didn't have the heart to tell her that she was hopeless in anything higher than half an inch, and instead removed her shoes, socks, tights, and then put on the shoes. She actually did look much better now; she actually had a figure under all those clothes!

Franki pulled up her dress. She held it over her clothes and turned, seeing Marketa in the mirror. "Ok, don't take this the wrong way, but you are hot! I can see why Ian chased you. He wanted to talk to me this morning, but he said that he couldn't talk because he was talking to you. You got some hold on that boy," Franki said with a smile.

Marketa blushed and smiled shyly. "I don't know about dat," she said with a shake of her head. "I only met him dis morning. He told me he used to beat boys away from you. Surely you are de one wit de strong hold?" She turned to Franki and raised her eyebrows questioningly.

Franki blushed. "Well, I was. Then he went to Durmstrang. He didn't meet anyone else like I did until he met you. I think you now hold that boy's heart," Franki admitted.

Marketa smiled and looked away from Franki, back at herself in the mirror. Her face became pensive again. "I don't tink I'm ready to hold a boy's heart...not again, not yet." She fiddled with the little locket at her breast, sighing slightly. "I don't know, maybe I should just crawl back into bed and stay dere for ten years..." She made for the bed, but sat down instead of crawling in. She wasn't ready for a boy's heart so soon after Yvonne.

Franki put down her dress on the bed and walked over to Marketa. "No, you can't do that. Ian would be so upset and he would never forgive himself. Please don't. He really does like you and I don't want to see him hurt," Franki said. She sat on the side of Marketa's bed. "Please don't give up on him already. He's just trying to help and he's really taken with you."

Marketa looked up at Franki. "I'm not giving up...I'm just getting ready to do dis." She hugged her knees to her chest, knowing she would be the frumpiest dressed girl at the dance, even with the shoes. Ian would look like a fool. Her dress wasn't even floor-length, and would look ridiculous if it was. It was a housedress her mother would wear to church. "I'm really taken wit him too, I'm just worried I'll embarrass him. I can't dance!" She shook her head as she spoke, knowing she was a hopeless case. Even at 17, she looked like a 25 year old in a weary sort of way instead of the 'young hot 25 year old' way. At the mental image of her tripping over the shoes and Ian's feet, she couldn't decide whether to laugh or groan, so she did both.

Franki studied Marketa's face. "Well, the dance is easy. I'll tell you a secret. In one of the letters he sent me earlier in the year, he told me that he couldn't dance either," she reassured. Franki studied Marketa's face again. "Can I ask you a question and will you not get offended by it? How old is that dress? And do you like it?" she asked, wrinkling her nose.
