Peter smiled. "Okay." So they were starting to reach a resolution. That was good. That was progress. "When Mum and Dad send a letter back, I'll ask them if it would be okay for you to stay with them. I'm sure it will be. It's just a formality."

"Alright." Jess pulled away and looked down at her stomach again, lifting her shirt a little to see the tiny bump. "How much do I have to gain?"

Peter shrugged. "Doesn't matter." He hadn't exactly read the book that Jess lent him thoroughly. But Peter had decided to take an idealistic, unrealistic view of the pregancy. Morning sickness and rotund ankles were not in his visions.

"So then why can't I just stay like this?" Jess crossed her arms over her chest, huffing. "I can just have no body fat what so ever, then it won't be as noticeable. Babies don't weigh that much and I've already gained a half stone (7 pounds)."

"It's temporary. Just...do it for the baby. Do it for me," begged Peter, now anxiously looking up for Madame Pomfrey. "Eat. Take care of yourself. Don't try any more spells."

Jess sighed and kissed him on the cheek. "Fine...fine I'll eat. I'll gain two stone or whatever you want, and I'll stop doing spells." For now...
"Alright, let's get you cleaned up." Madam Pomfrey returned with a spray bottle. She sprayed the bed and the blood stains instantly disappeared. "Wipe your legs off." She handed Jess a wet washcloth and looked around at the other beds. "Any of your friends here? We need a Slytherin girl to go get you something to change into for the night."
"Ummm...Felicia's over there. She's in my year." She pointed to a girl who was reading in her bed and had a sling on her arm. She watched Madam Pomfrey bustle over and instruct the girl to go to the dormitories.

Peter, relieved at now having an excuse, straightened up. "I'll go fetch my things, then. I'll be back soon, alright?"
Ray knocked timidly on the door, and Peter opened it. "We wanted to make sure everything was alright," said Ray, a little apprehensively.
"We're alright. Jess had a little...mishap--but we're alright now," came Peter's reply, through the crack in the door.

Jess nodded and kissed him before he left, taking the time alone to close her eyes and try to get some rest, masaging her aching stomach lightly.
"Mishap?" Desiree looked to Ray, a little concerned. Sure, she coldn't stand Jess, but she was pregnant after all and the baby had never done anything wrong, so she couldn't help but feel bad for it.

Peter left the room, so he was standing outside with Desiree and Ray. "Yeah. C'mon, I'm going up to the Common Room," he said in a low voice, beginning to walk towards his dormitory. "Jess has been taking this a little hard, that's all."

Desiree frowned, taking Ray's hand as they walked back towards the Gryffindor Common Room. "I could imagine. She lives for her physical appearance; how is she supposed to deal with something like this? Not to mention the whole teenage pregnancy thing in general is stressful on any girl."

Ray nodded. "At least Peter's being supportive and not freaking out," he offered. "Wonder what the 'mishap' was, though."

Peter grinned. "I'm really glad. I've been wanting to marry her as soon as she graduated. I guess we'll just be married sooner. And I don't see why she's fussed. A baby would be good. A baby would be fantastic."

"And you don't mind that you're still in school?" Desiree was actually very impressed with Peter. Often times teenage boys didn't want to take responsibility for something like this. "I guess it will be alright since you graduate in the spring, but is Jess going to come back next year?"
