Eh well. You do know it's actually supposed to be put together right? They seperate it on the DVDs sometimes but it's actually supposed to be together because he has no surname.

Honestly, child...

In Japanese language, especially old Japanese, the concept of "together" and "seperate" as far as language terms just didn't exist. There are no spaces between words like in Western languages. All ways of spelling Inu-Yasha's name would be correct. Until Western foreigners came, they didn't even have the periods and commas that they have now. Nothing technically stops in old Japanese. The surname, given name, the rest of the sentence, ALL of it would be smashed together. There are very few "correct" way of interpreting syntax from two vastly different languages. Get your facts straight if you want to lecture stare

I think it would be helpful if in all the character profiles, the SN of the person playing them was also listed.

I wasn't lecturing, you were. I wasn't even making a comment on Japanese, I was making a comment on how it was translated into English, so you might want to make sure of which argument you're actually getting into before lecturing. I realize it was all bunched together, but when it's translated into English, spaces are added, or not, and in this case it would be not.

Thanks for the history lesson though.

Note: Please don't take anything I say personally, ever, and especially not right now, because, I'm in a really bad mood for reasons all females can probably empathize with.

Odd how you seem to get offended when the only things I said which could possibly be construed that way were mostly quoted from you. And yes, this is a discussion on how things are translated into English. From Japanese. You saying, "Eh well. You do know its put together, right?"not only comes off as condescending and lecturing, but the fact that it's flat out wrong. Are you saying that all first names are one word in English? I thought I'd give you the benefit of the doubt to be culturally aware enough to know that Korean names are either hyphenated or completely seperated, but I guess I was wrong. Here's my point, in case you miss it again:When translating from a vastly different language to English, like Inu-Yasha, there are very few constant rules of syntax. This makes you no more right than she is, so there was no need for your condescension.

And I will not make any allowances for people on their periods. Most of this board is female, and can handle themselves fine when that happens. Hiding behind periods and expecting others to simply take abuse because of it is an attempt to evade responsibility. God knows there are many people who would say we weren't fit for high positions for that same reason, and I will not accept a woman feeding into that misconception.
