Peter looked at Jess in surprise. "I'm spending the night here. In case you need anything."

"Oh...alright." Jess waved him over, patting the spot next to her on the bed. "Right now, I just need you to sit with me." She gave him a shy, almost embarassed smile. Being pregnant had changed her so much, she was barely even familiar to herself.

Nothing could have made Peter happier. He beamed and planted himself next to Jess. "So...everything's fine now, right? You're all taken care of. Pomfrey gave you whatever medicine you needed..." He had no idea, actually, about anything Jess needed, but he figured he'd make a vague sort of list, and check things off as they went.

Jess nodded. "I'll be fine." She took his hand and started absentmindedly playing with his fingers. "Peter...I think I'm hungry. Well..." She rubbed her stomach. "I think we both are."

Peter grinned. This was good. This was progress. This made Peter Keyes feel tremendously proud and paternal. "Okay," he said, standing up. "I'll get you something. D'you want anything in particular?" he asked, racking his brains for something nutritional and not tasteless.

Jess thought for a moment. "Could you get me some tea to settle my stomach? And perhaps a sandwich. I don't mind what's on it, as long as it isn't yellow or green." Odd sort of craving, yes. "And maybe some chocolate ice cream with it." Oh yeah...she was pregnant.

Peter's brow wrinkled, but he shrugged it off. "I'll tell the house elves," he said, before excusing himself and dashing out the door repeating "Tea, sandwich--no green or yellow--chocolate ice cream, tea, sandwich..." to himself under his breath.

Jess settled back in her bed, pulling out a book that she had asked Felicia to go fetch after she had brought the robes. It was just a light reading book, though not exactly appropriate for her to be reading so close to a teacher. She had magically doctored the steamy cover so that it just looked like a picture of a school, so she should be fine.

Armed with a flagon, a large bowl, and a covered platter of sandwiches, Peter kicked open the door and set the foods down on his bed. "If you need anything else, you can just tell me. Or if the food's bad--though I'm not sure what I can do about that. But if it is, tell me. Or, actually, if it's not like you..." And his rambling went on and on.

"Peter?" Jess clapped her hand over his mouth and yawned. "I have an awful headache. There's no need to be going on." She sat up and stretched her arms over her head to crack her back. Even though she had barely gained any weight, the added pressure on her petite frame was causing her loer back to cramp up.

Peter fell silent, feeling terribly guilty, and poured out a cup of tea. His 'sorry' was barely audible. Wordlessly, he held it out almost like a plea for forgiveness.

Jess took the cup from him and sipped at the tea, which seemed to soothe her stomach a little. "I wish I had some honey for this, but honey is yellow and I don't think I could stomach it." She frowned. "And here I thought you only got cravings for weird things, not against them."

Peter searched for some kind of non-yellow alternative to honey. "D'you want some sugar?" he asked, clasping his hands together (in a manly way).

Jess shook her head. "No, it's not for the sweetness. Honey just calms my stomach sometimes." She thought for a moment and then started leafing through a parenting manual that Pomfrey had left on her table. "Actually, it says here that babies shouldn't eat honey for the first few years...I don't know if that forbids me from it too or not."

"Yeah, probably." Peter was slowly, cautiously, regaining his ability to speak. "But you don't want it either, so that's alright."
