Peter tossed his Potions aside. "Could I--feel it?" he asked tentatively, straightening up and sitting on his bed with an almost soldieresque posture.

"Yeah, it's actually really strong right now." Jess propped herself up and lifted her shirt a bit. "If you press down right in the center, at hip level, you can feel it."

Peter leaned forward, fascinated, and pressed where Jess indicated. His face lit up when he felt an almost otherworldly movement from within. "This is amazing," he whispered.

Jess blushed a little, placing her hand next to his so she could feel as well. "I think she's trying to flip over. Supposedly babies are moving and hearing and everything by now."

Peter looked up in disbelief. Maybe he would get himself one of those panphlets. "It can hear me?" His baby could hear him. She knew his voice. "Wicked."

Jess nodded. "She can pick up loud noises and even distinguish calming sounds." She smiled. "You can probably even hear her heartbeat if you listen closesly."

Peter's jaw dropped, and he immediately ducked down to press his ear against her stomach. Sure enough, there was an almost inaudible, consistant beat. "I can hear it!" he whispered, his eyes going wide.

"It is fast. It's so fast that it sounds almost like it was humming," reported Peter, his ear still pressed to her stomach, almost expecting to hear his baby gurgling.

Jess smiled, allowing herself to exhale, relieved. "Well that's definitely a good thing." She looked down at Peter, at her...well he was her fiance now wasn't he? That thought made her a little nervous, but excited at the same time. She had yet to really get her mind around the full gravity of their situation and was trying to get by at this point.

Peter grinned up at her, oblivious to Jess's introspection. "It is, isn't it?" He straightened up. "You know, we should start thinking about names."

Jess nodded. "Probably." She put her shirt back down, her hand resting over the bump below her navel as she yawned, a little sleepy. "Have any in mind?"

Peter shook his head. "None. Are there any that you like?" Suddenly, his eyes lit up. "Wait...what if we named it after one of your parents? They'd like that, wouldn't they? They would approve."

Jess didn't even need to think before she shook her head fervently. "Not in a million years, Peter. I do not want our little one to be named after the likes of them." She rubbed her stomach almost protectively. "I was thinking...something different, not plain like Jessica or Peter or anything. I mean, of course it's going to be a girl so I wouldn't want her to be named Peter anyway..." She pondered for a few minutes. "What about Guinevere? Or...Lillith...or Hecate. Something old and powerful."
