Ben moved up to Laffite and circled him once more then reached down to touch his cane and he slid his foot under it and kicked it up into his hand and Ben stopped making him reappear again. "Again?" Laffite smiled and tapped a little bit. "You did fine. You pass. I'm just used to listening for people sneaking up on me but that was good." Ben fixed his sunglasses then looked up at the sky and realized the time. "Whoa, I gotta get back to the ship. Thanks Laffite and tell Blackbeard I'll see him on the Grandline...no. In the New World in the age of the pirates!"

Rednal nodded slightly as he returned from the Bliss Grove. He'd obtained what he wanted, and that meant he was now significantly further along the path to power than he had been before. Now, of course, he needed time to have his body get used to what he had done to it, and afterwards to start working out the nuances of this power. He exhaled slightly as he focused his mind and began to work through a series of kata, or martial arts techniques. He needed to.

It was important to keep his body trained and focused, and that meant not wimping out when the going got tough. Beyond that, the fruit he had eaten, the Yami Yami no Mi, was considered a pretty weird one even for Cursed Fruits, considering what it could do. He already knew one of the weaknesses, and could feel it, but beyond that he knew that if done properly he could become practically unstoppable. But he needed to train the right way first.

Punch, punch, kick, punch, kick, uppercut, twist, kick, block, jab, sweep, kick to groin, kick to chest, kick to head, block, jab, jab, dodge, uppercut. Over and over and over, drilling the knowledge of fighting into his body, cursed power and everything. Once properly managed, he knew that he would be dangerous. But still, the changes weren't done yet, and he couldn't get complacent just because he had consumed a Cursed Fruit. There were other things to consider.

Chances were, no Cursed Fuit power would be able to beat him now, not with what he had. But there was always Seastone, the ultimate bane of sailors. Drowning might actually be less of an issue... he couldn't swim now, of course, but he might be able to manipulate gravity above the water to save himself. Shipwrecks killed a handful of Cursed Fruit users every year, and were not to be underestimated as potentially deadly. Hence reinforced hulls.

And other things, of course... Rednal paused for a moment and put some new capsules in his mouth to replace those he'd used on the island. Always good to reload your weapons at first opportunity; you never knew if you'd have the time to do it later, and it was always smarter to have a fully-loaded weapon if you were going into battle. Pleased with that, Rednal turned to look at the end results of what he had learned so far. Not too bad.

Now, time to start experimenting with his powers. Rednal jabbed forward, darkness forming around one hand as he did so. The same energy formed around his other hand, and with that, he began launching Sunlight Punches endowed with this darkness energy. This was the power that could defeat even a powerful curse, which made it almost terrifyingly strong. Which was precisely what he wanted, of course. Why settle for anything less than the very best?

Rednal continued punching, manipulating the energy around his hands so that he could continue to properly use it. It was easy, almost instinctual. His body was certainly getting used to this, which meant several very good things. He'd heard the stories, but hadn't realized how true they really were. Things could have been worse, though, he supposed. And with that, he smiled as he continued training, ready to work some more on mastering his new power.

And what a mastery it would be when he was finally done with it. Rednal's mind was already working at lightning-fast speeds (not actually an exaggeration, if theories about the human mind were correct; it apparently ran on lightning), figuring out ways he could manipulate darkness and gravity in his favor. If you could pull things in or repel them, from any point, that could be devastatingly strong. Might not work against a Seastone sword, though... he'd have to rely on other techniques for that.

Perhaps the smart thing to do would be to push their chest backwards, and have the sword move along with them. Though if they had Seastone Armor, that could be very, very nasty indeed... better, in a case like that, to retreat and let someone else deal with it. Or perhaps lift a huge rock into the air and drop it on them; use the power of nature, via the Yami Yami no Mi, instead of the Cursed Fruit directly. Yeah, that was a relatively good way of doing things.

The speed of Rednal's jabs slowly increased, until he was confident about the effects that his grip would have. This was just the start, as far as he was concerned. His hand could stop cursed powers now, but he intended to see to it that his whole body would do that soon enough. A person with both the powers of a Cursed Fruit and immunity to them... truly fearsome. People would be listening to him soon enough, that was definitely going to be the case.

Well, that was a nice, basic power he'd learned, so... time to kick it up a notch and start using his power in earnest. He was getting the hang of how to do this, and with a firm nod Rednal began using his power to start affecting the enviornment. Pointing towards a nearby branch, Rednal focused, and it flew into his hand as gravity suddenly told it to go sideways. That was pretty useful. Rednal tossed it over his shoulder and looked for something larger.

Gravity, unlike darkness, was invisible. That meant it was hard to see, essentially, and that it could be used for sneak attacks. Which was fairly useful when you thought about it. Rednal found a relatively large boulder and held out his hand again. It rumbled, then pulled out of the ground and came towards him, stopping when it reached his hands. Rednal took a few steps backward and let it drop. Yes, he could certainly manipulate large and heavy things with this.

Perhaps even his enemies. Being able to toss them around like ragdolls would be a relatively convenient thing, and he could admire it being done. He'd have to start working on repelling others eventually, though. Rednal nodded, then glanced over his shoulder as a few thugs stepped out of the forest behind him, knives glinting in their hands. Well, figuring out the situation wasn't terribly difficult, so it seemed as if he was just going to have to fight them.

"I can't advise this." Rednal said quietly. The thugs just sneered at him, and one of them rushed forward, his knife held wide. Rednal focused, and suddenly the man's arm jerked towards him, throwing the thug completely off balance. Rednal cut the power off a moment later and let inertia keep moving the knife to the side, just in time for Rednal to kick the thug in the face. The man went down in a heap as Rednal looked calmly forward.
