His grin, if anything, widened a tad at her reaction, resisting the urge to chuckle at the way she straightened and otherwise prepared herself. Poor lass, she had no idea what she was getting into. "Well, you've got more experience than me! Though I will say, you are much lovelier than my usual partners--a herdbeast, a wherry, the usual." Who knew if he was kidding or not?
As they moved further out onto the sands, Jiriar did his best to settle into the upbeat music, just tipsy enough that his limbs were smooth. It wasn't like he usually cared about looking like a fool, anyway! Still, it was easy to get into it, and he'd eventually clasp the girl around the waist to twirl her about in merry, carefree circles. It didn't matter what everyone else was doing--they were going to be the center of attention soon enough!

All she could say to that, brown eyes wide and freckles crinkled up at the corners of her mouth and eyes was: "I didn't know wherries could dance!" Unless it was a human wherry. Those danced fairly well, from what she saw at the Hold Gathers. Giggling to herself somewhat, the tinkling laughter burst from her chest in a half-squeal as Jiriar caught her up and spun her like a little girl. This was entirely unexpected and her arms caught tight around his neck every time he did it, with lots of loud laughter and squealing ensuing.
He also was not a horrible dancer, and with the singing in the background, it was finally a real party for the Holder girl. She had heard that after not Impressing, it was depressing to attend the Feast. But far from being depressed, Inaari was at the peak of her upper emotions! Moving to the beat, clinging for dear life when she was swung around, it was such a merry time! She'd almost forgotten entirely that somewhere a new dragonrider had almost entirely brushed her off.
"Jiriar! You're crazy!" But enjoyable. So fun!
Elsewhere, the poor green flitt was not having a good time of it. She had stretched forward in earnest curiosity towards the new brown dragonet, and had been met with a furious hiss and and angry mental command. This had sent her screeling into the air, and vanishing up towards the ceiling to go between. When her mistress returned, she would not be pleased!

"....'S not that hard to find a partner Okassy. Lemme show you." Dorinelic's drunken slur was beginning to fade, or rather, he was slowly becoming more coherent. Either way, he still seemed tipsy at best. Giving a pat on Okassis's shoulder, Dorinelic pulled off his shirt. "Jus' you watch. I've done this 'afor." Making his way to the dancing circle, (or at least where people were dancing), Dorinelic managed to remain balanced, (as to how long he would remain so, even he wasn't sure). Thumping his chest, he yelled out for what seemed to be the hundredth time that night. "ANY 'OU LADIES WANNA DANCE WITH AH SEXY SMITHY?" If he had been sober, he would have be ashamed. However, in his drunken state, Dorinelic thought himself to be irritable. As for his pride, by morning he would have none left.

"If I can find a partner." S'kagi pointed out, in measured tones. Huh, must have been the atmosphere of the party, he felt a little strange... "Then I will. Most certainly. Have a dance." He added a slight flourish with his Klah cup eyed the rest, and then finished it. "Of course try and find a nice lady in this crowd that's not a candidate." He laughed. "Apparently I start enough rumors without dancing with the candidates." Hm, perhaps he should consider getting a little more of that excellent Klah.
Is that a good idea? I don't see why not, it's just Klah

With the crowd around S'van thinned, Jessmet scooted over. "Congratulations!" she cried, giving the new brown-rider a one-armed hug. Trundlebug trilled from her shoulder, echoing her excitement.
"Your brown is quite handsome. What's his name?" Jessmet brushed a wisp of hair from eyes and realized who had remained standing with her friend. "Er, ah, good evening, bronzerider," she said, ducking her head in respect.

"Alas!" S'van bemoaned, for he was certainly not a nice lady. True, he was not a Candidate, but he also wasn't female. "Perhaps one of the older Candidates, sir?" Now on his fifth (or was it sixth?) drink in the guise of good klah, the weyrling was irrepressible, and undeniably drunk. He had not had a drop of alcohol before in his life before now, and it was hitting his system hard. He swayed a little unsteadily on the bench, one hand going out to pet thin air, when he meant to pet his dragonet.
"Shhh Gall, th' firelizard isn't gonna hurt you!" Galliath, who was not at all convinced, warbled once more. Where is the nice girl? he complained piteously. If she had firelizards, she certainly did not leave them with him! I see Miith! The brown dragonet's eyes began to whirl with happy blues and greens. Will she play, mine? He had not yet thought to ask her, of course. All of this fun was very distracting.
When Jessmet spoke, S'van grinned, focusing on her for the moment and returning her embrace. "Oh, he is! His name is Galliath, and thank you. ... Oy, Jessmet. Will you dance with S'kagi here? He's lookin' for a partner, an' he wanted a nice lady. I seem to remember... that you're a nice lady." Oh Shells, he was going to regret drinking the klah once he sobered up. Galliath eyed Trundlebug, clearly checking to see if he would do as the green flitt had done and try to get close to him. Having received no answer from his rider on the subject of Miith, Gall decided to go straight to the source. Miith, will you play with me? the brown dragonet asked almost wistfully.

"It's a pleasure, Galliath," Jessmet said, dropping a slight curtsy. Her firelizard chirped a protest at being dipped; his tail tightened its stranglehold around the girl's neck.
She grinned and carefully readjusted the little brown. "Trundlebug's hardly hatched himself," she explained. "Maybe you saw him the other day at the lake?" Jessmet reached out a hand to Galliath, offering to scratch his brow-ridges. Her firelizard loved similar caresses.
It was then that Jessmet realized S'van's slightly inebriated state. Odd, since he seemed to be drinking klah... What was with this Weyr and klah? His suggestion startled her. Dance with S'kagi? The wingleader S'kagi? Jessmet's brown cheeks flushed darker.
"I could," she replied. "If you don't protest?" She smiled up at the bronze-rider.

"M'lady, I'm at a shortage for dancing partners. It would be my pleasure." S'kagi, who was himself a bit... relaxed... due to the warm fuzzies from spiked Klah, gave her a slightly teasing, theatrical bow and a wink. "Unless your companion objects." He added, with an equally unusual full grin, gesturing faintly at her firelizard. She was several years his junior, and a Candidate, but what the hell, it was the Hatching Feast, and it -WAS- just a dance. Besides, as a weyr brat she'd cut her teeth on the weyr rules, years before he'd even come here, being hold born himself. He offered her an arm and shrugged faintly in invitation.

Jessmet grinned up at the bronze-rider. She wasn't an especially talented dancer, but the music was infectious, and she was light enough on her feet. "Oh, he'll be fine. One moment." She held up a finger and unwound the fire-lizard's tail from her neck.
"Go up, Bug," she instructed, looking into his eyes and picturing the ledges which surrounded the Weybowl. A number of other attached fire-lizards had perched there, enjoying the general spectacle. Trundlebug's jewel-faceted eyes whirled slowly, he chirruped questioningly, and finally winked between. "See?" Jessmet told S'kagi. "No issue on that end!"
She took the rider's hand and the pair made their way through the crowd to the dance floor. "You should come, too, S'van," Jessmet called over her shoulder. "I've no doubt you'll find a dance partner as well!"

"Hnnnnn..." S'van said thoughtfully, contemplating Jessmet's words. It wasn't a half bad idea. It had been awhile since he had danced, though every gathering he had gone to had been comprised of his family, and dancing with his cousin was definitely not his idea of a good time. His sister had been so jolly though when they had last taken a turn around the floor. "Maybe I will, at that. Galliath wants t' play with his clutchsib anyway, so he'll be busy..." Assuming that Miith agreed to play with him, his brown dragonet probably wouldn't need the attention that he had been giving him. After all, Gall could bespeak him whenever he wanted to. "Enjoy yourselves!" he called after them, getting to his feet, the hand holding the mug of klah (was that what he was drinking?) shaking ever so slightly.

E'si was surprised when Miith suddenly lifted her head from his lap, her eyes whirling with a pleased green and blue color. Galliath! The dragonet trumpeted with happiness, and with the invitation to play, there was no way she was going to turn it down. She almost forgot to tell her bonded exactly what was going on as she rolled onto her feet. But something about the startled note in his voice when he asked "Miith?" prompted her to turn back to him. Galliath wants to play with me; I'm going to go play. You should... find someone to play with too!
At that moment E'si decided to lay on his back, starring dully up at the dark sky littered with bright stars, which seemed to be quite the answer to her request to go play. "You don't like me talking to other girls, so I'm just going to lay here for now... But, you go and play. Galliath seems... nice." He leaned up on his elbows, peering across the Weyrbowl for the dragonet Miith seemed so intent on playing with.
If you don't go and play I will be VERY loud, and I know you don't like it when I make a lot of noise.
E'si groaned, because it seemed like he'd be losing to his dragonet for quite some time in the years to come. Massaging his temple, he lifted himself onto his feet, watching with a briefly stunned look as Miith parted from his side to go play with Galliath. Well, she certainly was an independent little dragonet.
Galliatttttth! I can play! ...What are we... going to play? Does your's want to play with mine? I can get him to come over here and play nicely.

He had remained still for a total of 48 seconds. For Dorinelinc, this was an impressive feet. Even he thought he would fall over. Felling a bit saddened by the lack of female attention, he looked at the dancing area's borders for a potential partner. And, he spotted a small braid. Braid meant lady. lady meant dancing partner. His logic was infallible. Walking, (or rather, trying to strut while drunk, thus, making him look like something had hurt his leg), over to the one with the braid, Dorinelic grinned and tapped on the person's shoulder. Poor thing was shaking too! "Wanna dance?" He grinned, to drunk to notice anything wrong with the fact that the person who's shoulder he had just tapped seemed to be a bit more muscular then the girls he was used to.

Suprisingly, Kyllae really hadn't much to drink tonight. Yet, anyways. Perhaps it was her own, small form of mourning that she didn't impress. But it hardly seemed that she was upset. She was flickering amongst the groups, chatting, laughing, playing, teasing, dancing. But she never lingered long. Why, there were so many other people to see! So many other dragons to check out, so many boys to flirt and dance with!
She'd since changed out of her candidate robes, opting for a more comfortable, and more lucrative light dress. Her hair, washed and combed, was tossed about her shoulders, in an almost playful fashion. Her necklace was sparkling, and she was, well, confident as ever. Even more so, if that was possible.
After a lively song had finished playing, she'd left her dance partner, off in search of a new one. But who to pick on? Someone who looked interested, of course, but someone whom she know. Kyllae always liked to meet new people. Her head snapped around when she heard someone comment on the new song. Why yes! It was a lively song. And hopefully she'd find a lively dance partner to go with it. Wheeling about, she picked her way through people to tap the gentleman on the shoulder.
"I'll be your lassie for this song, if you'd feel so inclined," she offered, grinning hugely.

Mine is playing now, I think... maybe they will play after? Galliath suggested hopefully, thrilled by the idea that perhaps S'van would become friend's with Miith's rider so that they could all spend time together. What shall we play? the brown dragonet asked, wiggling like an excited puppy. He was very clearly ignoring S'van at this point, whose eyes had widened ever so slightly when he had been asked to dance. "... Why not?" True, he was slim enough for all the lean musculature that he laid claim to, and he was certainly not robust, but he thought himself quite manly! Others might disagree, but what did that matter? Turning to glance at Dorinelinc, the weyrling realized that the man really was that... a man. Ah well. Galliath wanted him to have fun, anyway.
