Ayashe was originally owned by a nasty, cruel old miner who used her to haul heavy items in his mine. During one of her many escape attempts, she was caught in a water-filled cavern behind a rockfall for many hours before finding her way out to freedom. Her near-death experience drove her a little bit crazy and convinced her that she did die in the mine and is now is a ghost.
