After snagging half of a cake, and polishing it off quickly- a little too quickly- Gypsy suddenly didn't feel well. She laid on her side, wishing the cake didn't hurt her stomach so much. Bad cake. It must have been cursed! So she tried not to think about it. "There's a queen at your place, Grandpa?" She then looked at Vienna. "I think humans have some kind of strange magic or something. I don't think my human could make much money by selling flowers. I mean, you can find flowers everywhere in the human realm. Why do people pay that money thing for them? There has to be something going on. Humans are devious." "Is it now?" Kodran laughed just slightly. "Well, I suppose if you want to live what humans call a 'litter pan' go right ahead." He teased, but kept his voice serious as he looked at Armada. "Bugs and worms are not so bad. They're too small to do any damage, and they are good for emergency food. Besides, you yourself have bug wings." He thought better about making a joke of eating her. He remembered Harpa had clawed his tail when he'd made a joke like that before.

"Hah! Humans ARE devious, and stupid too." Kayin chuckled, agreeing with Gypsy's suspicions. "They think it might be fun to play around with magic stuff, then think its a good idea to summon a Demon, then go oh crap now what?" He shook his head, still smiling. He never had understood the fascination for humans, but their world wasn't so bad. It had a lot of good food and people to harass. "My bonded drinks and eats all day, and draws and stuff. I don't really know what his purpose is, other than to be a lazy bum. Not that I can complain too much, the lifestyle suits me too!"

Kanika pranced and giggled at the lights dancing around. They made her want to chase them around!
"Yeah, sparkle balls are always at parties when humans have them!" Crouching and wiggling her little rump, she pounced around after another light, only to have it disappear once her body blocked the reflected beam. She chased the lights around the grass and table, and pounced after some farther ones near to the edge of the woods. Suddenly her stomach had the most peculiar sinking feeling and she heard a weird whispering cackling sound from the darkness of the trees. Two pairs of glowing orbs stared back at the little pale demon.

"Look Asgar, look!!" She cried, and scurried backwards startled all at once. But the glowing eyes she had seen were gone, and so was the dark scary feeling she had had from being near them.

Oh, how cute...he was shy! These were always the most fun. Especially the ones that were obviously attracted to her at the same time. Smiling winningly, Calypso slowed her pace and turned to meet the red koi. "Now, now, stranger," she practically purred, swishing her way around the male, 'accidentally' brushing her fins against his flank.
"It won't do for us to remain at a loss like this. My name is Calypso. What's yours, handsome?"

Samantha was helping herself to the sausages, smiling while watching some of the younger Winis running about and stuffing themselves with sweets. Maybe she should have something sweet as well...even if these savory treats were satisfying.

She crossed to a different part of the table, reaching for a fruit tart when her ear twitched at the call from one of the little ones. She wasn't this "Asgar" being paged, but her hearing was sharp enough to pick up on the note of panic nonetheless. Her green eyes darted towards the wood line, narrowing as she sought out the source of the child's distress.

Glancing at Shade, he blinked, then realized she... was uncomfortable with his embarrassment? Did he bother her with it? Oh dear. "It's my own fault, really, that I feel stupid. I should have thought before I acted. Oh well." He gave her a calm smile, making it clear she hadn't bothered HIM in the slightest. "Mistakes, I suppose, are a part of life I should learn to live with, even if I feel I SHOULD do better, and not make them. But no one's perfect. Ah well."
He looked at Shroom and smiled. "Well wine is a nice choice..." He popped the bottle open with a claw for a cork remover, then poured glasses for all 3. "Cheers!" He tilted his glass, took a sip, sighed happily... And then peered at Shade again, then controlled the urge to frown. How would she drink it... Hooves. Lord he WAS an idiot! "Dream Shade, would you like me to put your wine in a bowl? I... didn't even think about it when I poured it into a glass, I'm so terribly sorry! It was utterly thoughtless and rude of me!" Oh he hoped his new companions didn't think him a total boor for that faux pas!

Loki listened and nodded a little. "Well I will work on it... And see what I can find." He paused, and then smiled thoughtfully. "I wonder if there will be anyone who plays music or sings here? I love live music, don't you?" He didn't comment that he liked to sing, for he thought he wasn't very good at it. His familiar, meanwhile, flitted around, humming 'Ooooooo! Oooooooooooooo!' as it went.

Aurianna beamed at Riki. "You should come visit him, I am sure you'd be welcome at our place. I'm sure Love'd be happy to see you, and Dusk would be thrilled. As for Dawn... I have not met her... Prairie Dawn, yes? Dusk's sister? You should bring her too, have a family reunion. I'd love to meet Dusk's sister." At the mention of Tatsu, she frowned. Heavily. Her claws ran through the sand in front of her cushions, and after a long moment, she said "We met when he was.... younger. And I was too... I was still a mere adult, no elder, and he a child... We did not get along well. It... was not a pleasant meeting or parting. My temper gets the best of me, and he was a total brat." She sighed softly, and looked down, hoping she had not offended her companion with her less then kind assessment of his bondfellow.

Hawthorne stared at the female before him before his eyes narrowed in annoyance. This is why he didn't enjoy being social. Why couldn't they simply let him be to make his own decisions as to whether he was hungry enough to brave the hoard before him or not? Why did they have to harass him to go forth and partake of the delicious treats waiting to be devoured?
"Just because you can hear that I'm hungry doesn't mean that I'm willing to brave..." he waved a claw at the crowd before them, grimacing. "...That."

He shifted a little in the moist soil, slowly climbing to all fours so he was eye level with the female. She seemed insistent. Perhaps she didn't want to brave the crowd either? Did she not want to be alone amongst the giant group of socialites? Suddenly a thought occured, causing him to give her a suspicious look.

"...And what if one of us gets talked to, hmm? What then?"

Newt scoffed at the very idea of not being brave enough. It wasn’t about being brave, it was about being smart. Something she had mastered forever ago. And this little whelp was going to help her whether he liked it or not. She just had to play this game right, down to the last little detail and then she would have everything she wanted for the evening. Good food, with little effort, and no socializing.
So she seamlessly slipped into the next part of her act. She let worry cross her features, her head dropping a bit.

“Well I’m starving. And I don’t want to go down there by myself. They always try to talk and keep you longer. They want to know how you’re doing and who you’re doing it with. I don’t want to deal with all that.”

She blinked up at him, noting the male was far bigger than she had thought while he was curled on the ground pouting. But that was no matter to concern herself with. She could handle any demon on this beach. A fact that Newt held as absolute truth no matter the evidence to the contrary. Insanity was always a good boost for one’s ego.

“You see, they won’t try to talk to us, if we are talking to each other. That would be rude. So we will keep each other safe, and get food, and everything will be just fine.”

She let faint hope shine in her eyes as she spoke, willing the demon before her to believe the touch of worry and the promise of a job well done if he just cooperated.

Asgard watched Kanika pounce around and chase his crystals' reflections, content in just watching her for the time being. He tilted his head quizzically when she darted closer to the forest, but when she cried out and scrambled back, he immediately stepped forward to protectively place one large leg between her and the trees. Asgard looked toward the trees but did not see anything. He had no idea what she saw - or thought she saw - but the fear in her voice was unmistakable and called him into action faster than anything had since he had become bound to his mortal. Before the storage of knowledge, his primary function was defense, so his natural reaction to Kanika's fear was to protect her from whatever she felt threatened by.

Shroom could see that the conversation between Erudite and Dream Shade would continue to spiral downward unless she intervened.
"No need to fret yourself, Erudite," the mini demon said consolingly. "You wouldn't be the first one to offer a glass to Shade." Shroom fluttered over the table to pick up the glass of wine, then went to hover in front of the skull-faced demon. "Shade might not be able to pick up things, but she can hold some items in her hooves."
When Shroom took a hovering position in front of Dream Shade, the black demon settled her butt on the ground and held up her hooves like a dog begging for a treat. The mini demon gently placed the goblet between the red hooves.
Dream Shade balanced the glass between her hooves, tipping it over to pour the sweet liquid into her open jaw.

"See? No problems, " said Shroom turning back to Erudite. "We adapt to the..."

A shattering of glass broke into the mini demon's sentence. Looking back at her friend, Shroom saw the glass goblet laying in shards on the ground under Shade's hooves.
 "Oops."

"AHH!" Startled again, Kanika peered around the side of one shiny leg that was suddenly between her and the forest, then looked up in awe at the sparkly giant who was protecting her. Feeling better already, she looked at the large elder female that had joined them. That elder was also staring in the direction of the weirdness, maybe she saw it too!"You feel the bad?" She asked the cream female, then scampered around Asgard's hind legs to be farther behind his protective stance.
"There was something bad over there. With glowy eyes! Maybe ghosts," she chattered, then paused and frowned in thought. "Giggly ghosts." She stated decisively after a moment, and looked back around Asgard at the trees again. There seemed to be nothing there now but she was sure she had felt something weird!

((Thanks for the bag, Bum!)) Cambion stumbled out from his hiding spot in the trees at the sight of the glowing orbs from the bush. As soon as he caught them in his peripheral vision they winked out of sight. Despite his stylish mane, he WAS able to see quiet clearly, thank you muchness. He slided his morose self over to the table to lament over some delicate meyer lemon meringues and chocolate zuchinni bread with crusts that sighed of bone crushing deaths. He drowned his sorrows in the gazpacho and sang a dirge with the kebabs. Such was life. He sprawled on the banquet table and waxed macabre poetry as he ate the grapes, his long locks dipped in the wine and never the tartar sauce. Perhaps it was his destined lover with the glowing orbs that vanished into thin air. Not that he would know, they were gone. Some other winiko nearby mentioned ghosts. HOW FITTING! In resplendent glory, he sparkled like the Cullens. It's quite a sight seeing a winiko pointing with a claw. Almost a "******** you" gesture but without the fighting intent. Even though it wasn't pointed at him, it was still a powerful motion. Algae perfected the tightened smile until it looked natural. ******** was messing with him. Daring him to some nondescript bush with promises of chocolate. What for? Probably to make a fool of me, I bet. Well, he's none the wiser. Marching over to where "Tatsu" (He snorted. He wouldn't put it past the other winiko to make up a name, but he would be the better demon) pointed. "I'm Algae" he shouted back, "Forget those losers and show me where the chocolates are." He did not stomp. He wasn't a witch after all.

"Hmm, I'm not sure. This is the only music I've heard, but then, I made sure to get my food before it got too crowded over there. It's hard to say what might be planned, if anything. Perhaps this event is mostly meant for chatter." He peered at Loki's familiar at the 'oooing', and grinned. "Looks like he likes the idea of music, too, perhaps you should experiment with that." Riki couldn't help but beam back. He'd wondered if he'd be stepping on any feet coming to visit, since it was more of a fling, and he wasn't sure of Love-a-lot's feelings of it after the fact. "Really? I'd thought about it, of course, but that's one social visit I get butterflies about. Silly, isn't it? We're not on bad terms or anything. And yes, Prairie Dawn. She just prefers to go by Dawn, though." He smiled a little at that. As Auri explained her incident with Tatsu, he merely nodded, understandingly. "No worries, you'll not offend me about any of the group, there's too many for me to keep up with anymore, sadly. And anyway, you're right." He grinned, nudging her a little with a paw to get her to look up again. "He is a brat. Always has been. Kyogen is ever trying to get him to lose the attitude, but I think it's a lost cause. He's always been pretty belligerent, with narrowminded views on how demons should act. Even if you didn't have a temper, he probably would have gotten on your nerves."

Erudite blinked at Shroom. "Well at least I am not the first fool... But I can surely learn from my mistakes." He sounded determined. It was his own fault for not thinking. "And I'm glad..." His tone shifted back to the simple friendliness of before. "That you two have a solution, between you, for this." He nodded, and sipped his wine, with a smile, as he watched Shroom carefully hovering the wine into Shade's hooves.
He set his wine glass down as Shroom said 'No problems'. The sound of the glass shattering, however, had him looking up with concern. "Oh! Oh dear... Shroom, would you, perhaps, find a shallow bowl? We can put Shade's wine in that. I'll clear up the glass." He looked worriedly at Shade. "Don't move, please? I wouldn't want you to get any glass shards in your hooves, that would be unfortunate." He read, at home, and his human seemed to like horses a lot, so he'd read a number of her horse books. It told him that the hooves had soft parts that could get hurt. "Just stay still while I get this." He stood and got several napkins, then begins to carefully gather the glass shards, using one large one to pile them on and the others to protect him.

Loki sighed wistfully, he'd have liked to hear music he knew. He never sang alone, he was far too embarrassed to do so. "Ah well.... But we'll see, perhaps." He blinked and peered at the ooo'ing familiar. "Huh... perhaps he does." He gently reached up and poked his familiar. "Music? You like Music, hmmm, Small Stuff?" The familiar nodded until the part about small stuff, then it attempted to prod Loki with it's horns. "OW ok ok no Small Stuff! I got it!"

Aurianna smiled a little at his reaction to the suggestion of a visit. "I don't think there'd be any reason to be worried about a visit. Love's... I've only ever seen her get nasty with one person, a long time ago. Until that moment, I wasn't sure it was POSSIBLE for her to do so. But now, well I know it is and I also know that it took some one being an a** to... well don't worry about it." She looked sad for a moment, and then skipped past it. "She is a kind one, at the heart and soul of herself. I think a visit would go well." She listened to his words about Tatsu and sighed. "Probably true, but... I shouldn't have lost my temper. He was a child, being a child... I was an adult, and... ready to punish him for being a horrid brat." She stared at the ocean as she spoke. "I'm not really... good... at controlling my temper. I..." She looked sad again for a moment. "The father of my daughter was known to infuriate me so much, I once took the bone he was eating from him and started smacking him with it. I still have it, it's... well I've been tempted to use it on others, but now it's... put away." She seemed to be avoiding going over that one.

Oh how he wished he was back in his pond at home. He was rarely at such a loss there. And he had not seen one so beautiful in a long time, not since...he paused, letting that fleeting thought of the blue and green scaled beauty escape. He was quite sure he would never be lucky enough to find himself in her presence again. Back to reality, Haiku, let the daydreams flow later when you're not in another's company. A very beautiful other's company... He drew himself up, finally replying, as usual, in haiku, although most of the time others never noticed.
"I am called Haiku, for the poetry I write, and the prose I speak." Drawing up more bravery from within, he continued, "I apologize, O' Calypso of the sea, for following you." He bowed his head a little in apology. "My heart skipped a beat, as soon as I spotted you, and I could not think." Shy he might be, and slow to speak, but flattery came easily once his head was in order. And he was sincere when he praised someone, unlike a few others in his bond's horde.
Nonplussed by the gesture or the look as the Koi marched by (he was not averse to using such himself at times), strode right after him. "Algae, huh?" Kind of a lame name for a seemingly tough Wini, he thought to himself. Didn't that stuff just float on top of ponds, doing nothing? Anyway, he managed to catch up to him and passed him up, heading to the bush he hid the bowl of M&Ms in. Pulling it out, he flopped down and tossed a pawful into his mouth before offering the bowl to the koi. Swallowing, he commented, "Swiped the whole bowl from the table, so I didn't have to go back near all the gossip again." He made a face again at the thought of dealing with all of that.
