damn i was supposed to go into the usaf but first i was going to do national guard so i went to meps and i ofund out im partially color blind or some crap like that so i can never fly it sucks soo bad.

moparman64 I'm not literally blind, I have 20/30. My vision's not good enough to fly. However, there is a regulation on wearing corrective eyewear and still being able to fly. I have to talk to the recruiter and find out. That actually isn't that bad. I know that a lot of the time in military they will do the corrective surgery. But remember this, enlisted don't fly period. Officers are the pilots. In the Army Warrent Officers also fly. But never ever enlisted. On that note, if you want to fly try Academies and ROTC. If you dont' make an academy you can always try again, but you have a better chance of getting the corrective surgry through the academies, though it is still possible through ROTC.

Nor can you wear glasses or contacts (although I think they are looking into allowing glasses if certain requirements for the glasses are met), Its not really safe in the style of flying done, however they do allow the PRK eye surgery now.

That's not right you can fly if you have corrective surgery, they do pay for Lasik and PRK.

Pfft~ Why do so many people want to fly the planes?
In my opinion, there's actually a lot of awesome jobs that you don't need perfect vision for. Like being a crew chief or a bmet.
