Ezra watched curiously as Gil removed a flight feather and cut some of his hair off, tying it around the quill. When handed to him, Ezra took it and listened to him. He could be teleported to Gill? He wasn't sure....What if he was hurt because of it? Ezra didn't want anything to happen to the angel because of him helping the teen. But, Gil had made his decision. He didn't think he could change the other's mind. "Thank you....I swear not to use it unless it's an emergency, and I'll keep it safe....Somehow." Ezra looked at Gil's hand, hesitating. Could he handle holding his hand? It wasn't extremely intimate and he did know Gil a little better. He took a breath and took Gil's hand, looking down shyly. This was so...foreign to him, but he didn't dislike it.

Why exactly was he doing this? This human youth he had only just met should be nothing at all to him. And yet here he had bestowed a great honour on him, and he probably did not even barely grasp the significance of what the angel had done - and in all honestly could not be expected to. After a little hesitancy the young male took his hand when proffered so they could walk back to the campsite together. How long had it been since he'd felt another's hand clasped in his? Such a long time. He'd only ever held hands with one being and he was...gone. Long since gone. The boy's hand felt warm and soft. This was...pleasant. "You said you have a cat. Tell me about your cat" he said as they walked beneath the leafy green canopy in order to make conversation.

Ezra looked up at Gil and smiled. He'd love to tell him about his cat. "Felix. His name's Felix. He's stubborn and hates everyone, but gets along well with Sophia and myself. He's extremely protective of me, which is odd behavior for a cat, and he's spoiled rotten. But, I love the little tyrant." The teen thought. "He's also a calico, which is rare. You know, for male cats."

"Felix the cat huh?" Gil replied with a smile of amusement. "I like cats. Well, I like all animals except for humans but I do particularly like cats. I did think of getting a kitten but I suppose I just never got around to it. Besides, I can have any of the wild creatures here as a pet if I wished, they are tame with me." They came to the campsite. As Ezra had expected, there was no one there. "Safe journey home, Ez. I hope to see you again sometime. You and Felix are always welcome. It was pleasant spending time with you." He smiled softly at the boy and brushed the hair from his eyes before turning away to walk back to the wooden cabin.

Ezra smiled. He was glad the Gil liked cat's, too, and that apparently Felix was welcome to the cabin. He doubted he'd be bringing the angel's home. Felix didn't like people, and he didn't want to know what he'd think of an angel. When his hair was brushed from his face, Ezra blushed a bit and looked down, uncomfortable and pleased at the same time. Just like the hand holding. Ezra watched as Gil left, letting out a sigh. He'd have to figure out when he could come visit again. Until then, he knew he had lectures and punishments for misbehaving and leaving the group.

Gil walked slowly back to the cabin. He stood at looked around the place. He was content here with his simple life. Not happy, he was never really that, but most certainly content. He didn't need company, least of all human company, and he didn't need to change his life in anyway to accommodate another. The boy Ezra probably wouldn't visit again at all even though he'd said he would. Words were so easy and so often faded away without effect. It would be totally irrational and unjustifiable to allow one chance visit with one amiable human boy to affect his life in anyway. What was that human saying? Ships that pass in the night, that was it. Most apt. Forget all about him, it meant nothing, he meant nothing. And yet... the cabin had never before felt so cold and empty. The forest had never before felt so lonely. A few adaptations to make the human youth comfortable if he did visit wouldn't do any harm, he had the time and ability. It would use magic, a lot of magic...but he could do it. He'd likely be exhausted for sometime afterwards, vulnerable as his powers took time to replenish, but for the boy it would be worth it. Didn't that go against everything he'd been thinking only moments earlier?

It took a few hours but at last he was done. He stood akimbo, legs apart and hands on hips, and surveyed his work with satisfaction. He yawned widely and raked a hand through his long hair. He needed to rest. He went into the unfamiliar house and up to the new bedroom and crashed out on the bed. He slept for a long while indeed as his body recouperated from so much work both physicl and magical. It was actually a few days before he felt fully himself again. He made sure everything was ready, homely, comfortably, all necessities and comforts provided. The new kitchen was stocked with foods he thought the human would like, there were entertainments he knew he'd want, those noisy boxes he liked to play with like other young humans; there was even a litter tray and wicker basket should he ever decide to bring Felix. If the young man ever needed somewhere to escape to, then here was now a viable option for him surely?

Gil made sure he was dressed appropriately should Ezra not be alone when he appeared to him, though he hoped he would be. He had to see him, to fetch him on a visit so he could see what he had created. He closed his eyes, focused, and took himself to the boy's home.

Ezra had been lectured when he got home. Even his mother, who never paid any attention to anything but her work, scolded him. She had even went as far as to slap him for trying to "talk back". So, aside from school, Ezra locked himself in his room for the last few days. He didn't even bother going downstairs to eat dinner or anything. He stayed in his room with Felix and talked with Sophia. It was all he could do to stay calm.

After a few days, Ezra decided to resume his violin lessons with Sophia. It was a no school day, so he had the time. He was in the middle of practicing alone, with only Felix present, when he heard a crackling. Looking around, he spotted Gil's form begin to appear. Blinking, Ezra looked down and sighed. The cut on his lip wasn't healed yet. The last thing he wanted was for Gil to get upset over his mother's physical punishment, even if it was uncalled for. Behind him, there was a hiss and Felix disappeared underneath the bed. "Felix...."

The angel appeared in Ezra's room. As soon as he started to materialise a cat hissed and disappeared beneath the bed. Once fully appeared, Gil bent down by the bed and made an incredibly realistic purring, he could win any creature around, it was an angel thing. Then he stood and looked at Ezra. He frowned. "Who hit you?" he demanded at once. He didn't wait for the reply before continuing speaking however. "Put the cat in its carrier, gather whatever you most need and come back with me. I am not leaving you here to be abused any longer." He looked determined, not a being to be crossed and he stood akimbo watching the youth. "You may tell the woman Sophia that you are going somewhere safe but you will tell no one else." He waited for him to obey his instructions, it never crossed his mind the boy might protest.

Ezra covered his lip with his hand as he looked down. Felix hadn't come out of his hiding spot, clearly unimpressed by Gil's purring ability. As far as the cat was concerned, the angel was just another person. Smart cat. "Gil...." Ezra sighed and set the violin down before sitting on the bed. "...Gil, thanks. I kean it. I really appreciate your concern. But, I...." But, he what? He had no other reason than Felix and Sophia to stay. Sighing, the teen stood. "I can't really argue. Just....Can I have until the weekend? Please?"

Gil stared at the bed and scratched his head, a little confused by the cat's refusal to respond to him. He'd never failed to win over any animal before - unless it was a familiar or a demon in disguise! He looked at Ezra and sighed. "Very well. Until the weekend" he agreed reluctantly. "But no longer. If you protest at all I will simply carry you there myself if I must."

Ezra smiled a bit, gently holding the golden feather that was still around his neck. "Thank you. I'll be ready by the weekend." Ezra looked around before smiling a bit. "Do you want to stay for a bit?...Why did you come here in the first place? Did you miss me?"

The angel's initial instinct was to respond 'of course not' to the youth's question. But he didn't. He paused and thought for a moment. Was that why the past few days had seemed strangely pointless and empty, a feeling he really was not used to. "I...believe perhaps I have" he replied. "I came because I wanted to take you home to show you something. A surprise. I did not wish to wait until you visited, uncertain if you ever really would."

Ezra was actually glad he had missed him. He did like Gil. "I was going to come out this weekend to see you. Please have a bit more faith in me. I wouldn't have wasted those words if I didn't meant them." The teen sat back down, watching as Felix jumped up and sat on his lap, hissing at Gil. "Be nice to him, Felix. We're going to be living with him....What did you want to show me?"

((by the way, you were close when you called felix a familiar or demon. the original felix was a shape shifter who loved ezra, so scared every potential lover away so he could have ezra to himself. now he's just a cat, but yeah.

"I knew you meant it at the time, I was just uncertain if you'd get back home and forget all about me, or if something would prevent you from returning" Gil told him. "I'm pleased you were going to visit but clearly visiting is not enough under the circumstances. I wanted to show you something at home, I was going to take you back with me briefly if you'd not be missed to show you a surprise at home. But as you're moving in at the weekend anyway I suppose it can wait until then. I do think you'll pleased." He was so glad now that he'd gone to that much effort, if Ezra was moving in permanently he needed the comfort of a modern home.

Ezra smiled a bit. He wouldn't be able to forget about Gil even if he wanted to. The guy was an angel, and had been kind to the teen. More or less. "A surprise at the cabin, huh?...Can't wait to see it. Anyway, do you want to stay awhile? I'd like the company." He covered his lip again, though he didn't know why. Maybe he just didn't like having Gil see the cut. "Or, do you need to get back and take care of the animals?"
