"Hm? The hang of the cloth. It has coins sewn into the hem to weight the drop, it's called a drop cloth, it's a very old fashioned technique. So it will hang just so, in perfect drapes." He fiddled with the cloth to get it just how he wanted it then returned to his work. "If you can possibly manage half an hour, I'll be almost finished" he told him.

Nathaniel gave one of his soft, half smiles. He got busy again on the painting then, changing the colour palate slightly. For a while he'd be fast and furious, the brush moving quickly in bold strokes on the canvas, then he'd been slow and detailed, deeply focused on a minute area. Eventually after a little over half an hour he declared the painting almost finished. "Another fifteen minutes or so and it will be done. Let's take a break." he said to Mitsu.

When Nathaniel eventually announced a break, Mitsu sat up and gave a relieved sigh. It was about time. "How do people do his sort of thing....Jeez....So, how's it look so far? Can I peek?"OoC: How are you and Jude?

Nathaniel gave a soft laugh and shook his head. "No way, sweetheart," he replied adamantly. "Not until I am completely satisfied I don't want to add another single brush stroke. Let's go and sit out in the sunshine for a little while, get some fresh hair and a cup of tea. Or did you want a glass of wine? Oh, sorry, no of course not. You mustn't have wine. A strawberry daquerie then?"
((I'm fine thank you. Jude's very down because of a lot of personal trauma going on right now but physically he's fine. How are you two doing?))

I bet it tastes horrible anyway." Actually, it probably tasted pretty good. He just said that to lessen any temptation he had to have even a sip. Once he was ready, Nathaniel took Mitsu's hand to walk with him. He asked one of the staff for two strawberry Daiquiris and two slices of champagne cheesecake to be served on the patio. "So, tell me a little more about yourself," he said as he took a seat in a patio chair. "Such as...what music you like and what is your favourite flower." ((Course he will! He needs all the hugs he can get right now. How are things with Chad going?))

I think it's irritating, to be honest. If I had to choose, though, I guess I'd go with soft instrumental music. Anyway, my favorite flower is the cherry blossom." He leaned back in the chair before curling up. "I guess roses and lilies aren't that bad either."OoC: Things are fine.

Nathaniel nodded. He was just trying to make small talk, he thought they shouldn't be silent but as he was not allowed to mention the others family or cats or anything personal in the least it was hard to come up with a subject. "I prefer instrumental too" he replied. "You will have noticed I never have music playing. I am not fond of lilies. I will paint cherry blossom flowers scattered around you in my painting."

"Scattered as in...kind of tossed over me?" Was Nathaniel having a hard time coming up with conversation subjects because of Mitsu's protective rules regarding his family and familiars? Probably. Nathaniel smiled and shook his head. "Maybe less difficult would be boring to me" he replied in a silky voice. "Had you thought of that, tempestuous one? Perhaps you should choose the subject of conversation. I am happy to discuss anything at all."

Nathaniel's eyes clouded over briefly. He sighed. He always told anyone who asked him why he lived in the human world that it was to be different, that back home he was just another kitsune with the same powers as any other whereas here he was something fantastical and special. It made him sound shallow but he didn't mind, it was none of anyone's business, he didn't mind what others thought of him. The truth though was a far more tragic tale. He gave a small nostalgic smile. "My mother Mishka and my father Medreth are both dead. I have a sister, Luna, but I have not seen her in many years." he told the young warlock. "When you ready we shall go and finish the painting."

Why hadn't he seen his sister? Mitsu wanted to ask, but didn't want to pry. "Sorry....I guess I shouldn't have asked." Standing, Mitsu stretched a bit and looked at Nathaniel. "I guess I should let you ask one question about my family or familiars if you'd like since I asked about yours."OoC: --
