Illitashia smiled at her daughter and nodded, knowing full well Amirah could take care of herself. "Of course.. Would you like to rest then?"
She gave a nod toward the comfortable den, and smiled at her daughter. Cubs played here and there, other lions lounged, the atmosphere of Rose Wings was peaceful, relaxed and welcoming.
Venati reclined near the mouth of the cave, tucked in an alcove just inside. Her pale form glowed softly, a remnant and reminder of her death. She nuzzled the cubs at her side and rested her head on her paws, dozing lightly.
Snuggling to her mother's side, the obviously mortal and dark coated princess slept. Inati churred in her sleep and curled into a slightly smaller ball, all but dissappearing, little more than a black spot against her mother's white.
The only awake member of the tiny family also curled against her mother's side. Tenari, SecondGeneration Spirit and generally curious youth, sat watching all that occured with slitted eyes. She feigned sleep, but couldn't be more awake of tense. Strangers made her nervous, but she was doing her best to become more social.

Regius looked into the river at his own reflection. He bore the crown marking of his father and he smiled, batting at the water. He knew who he was. The prince turned back the way he had come, at the tall grass swaying in the breeze.

"Perhaps a nap would do me some good." She would admit she was rather tired from the journey. She nuzzled her mother one last time before padding into the den and laying down, resting her head on her paws.

Illitashia smiled and shooed Amirah to rest, glancing out over the Pride Lands. She could see a little black cub making his way through the area, and recognized him as the other cub of Venati. He looked so much like his sire, it made her smile.
The weight of her belly made her wince, and a cub gave a gentle kick as she resettled herself. She smiled, knowing soon there would be more cubs running around.
Venati lifted her head and called to her son. "Regius? What are you doing darling?"
Her daughters were tugging at the haunch of an antelope someone in the pride had brought down, and she wanted to make sure her son got to eat too.
Talcorin sped to a trot as they reached the den, smiling. He could see his mate, and felt a swell of Pride. They were expecting their first litter of cubs, and he could hardly wait. Illitashia was even more beautiful as she fairly glowed with happiness, and he purred appreciatively.

Regius looked up, eyes seeking out his mother. "Admiring my reflection, of course." He purred as he made his way to his family. He caught the scent of the antelope before he saw it, his mouth watering as he increased his speed. He was hungry. He threw a grin at his siblings before sinking his teeth into the meat. He let his eyes roll up to his mother with a grateful expression as he ate.

"Oh.. Of course." Venati laughed, shaking her head as her son scrambled past. He would be grown soon, and off to fall in love, but she couldn't help but adore him as a kit. Smiling as he dug into his meal, she nodded in satisfaction and rested her head on her paws, eyes cast out over the Pride Lands in search of, whatever lay therein.
Inati lifted her head from the meat, licking her mouth clean before she spoke. "Bout time you showed up Reg.. We could have eaten it all before you got back."
She gave a teasing smile and then tore another piece off, chewing it hungrily.

Regius laughed, drawing his head up to look down at his sister. "You two are too little to eat all this." He purred condecendingly, before he gracefully lowered his head and took a neat bite out of the haunch. He chewed it slowly as though savoring the flavor before swallowing and taking another bite. After swalloing that bit, he turned back to his sister. "And even if there wasn't any left, someone would hunt for me. I am a prince after all." He tossed his head arrogently before returning to his meal.

Even though she was the oldest, Inati couldn't help but admit that Reg did have the edge on her when it came to size. She stuck her tongue out at him and scrunched up her nose, huffing before returning to her meal.
"I bet we could eat it all." She muttered, simply rolling her eyes when he bragged about getting someone to hunt for him. "You are so odd sometimes Reg.. Really."
Tenari ate silently, pulling meat away from the foreleg and chest of the animal while her siblings bickered near its back. She didn't like to argue, or really say much of anything.. Tena would rather eat, bathe, and then explore the Pride Lands a little under the cover of a midnight sky.

Reg kept his head down, but rolled his eyes up to look at his two sisters, feeling that famliar protectiveness before turning his attention back to eat his fill. He pulled back and ran his tongue over his lips to clear them of blood. "I am not odd, Ina." He said, all traces of mockery gone. He looked at her with darkened eyes before raising himself completely from the corpse. "I am a prince." Reg's eyes wondered out over the lands his father ruled with a look that would made him seem his namesake.

Tenari lifted her head from the antelope, her muzzle surprisingly clean, a testamate to her fastidious habits. She looked levelly at her brother and spoke a single challenging phrase.
"But what else are you?"
And then returned to her meal.
Ina's remark- if she even had one- was cut off as she blinked in surprise at her white coated sister. Tenari rarely spoke, and never directly addressed another lion unless they talked to her. She was shy, and quiet, and almost invisible. Yet she had said a single thing, that was fairly booming with response. Shaking her head, Ina returned to her dining.

Regius turned to his smallest sister. "I know what I am, Tena. More then a prince, less then a god." He let his arrogence slip in, saving him from answering the question. Or so he hoped. I am my sister's brother and protector, my father's son, one of the princes, and... What else am I? Regius let the thought pass through his head and felt the expression begin to slip off his face. He looked at his sisters with that arrogant smile, but his eyes were wrong, like mirrors.

Tena twitched an ear at him, never turning her eyes from her meal. She gave a sniff, that somehow managed to be unassuming and derrogatory at the same time, and continued eating.
Inati arched a brow at her proud brother, doubting his facade. "I believe she meant... Even if your father wasn't a king.. What are you? On your own merrits, bloodlines accounting for nothing.."
She gave a shrug. "Of course, perhaps I misunderstood the question."

Without answering, Regius turned and went back the way he came. He didn't know the answer to the question so he paced slowly back to the river, eyeing his reflection. "What am I, without them? What am I..." He flopped into a prone poistion, staring at the sky, not wanting to look at his reflection anymore. It gave him no answers. "...On my own merrits? Do I have any?" He rolled, facing himself in the water again.

Tenari felt rather bad that her question had driven her brother away, but didn't chase him, feeling it would have made things worse. Finishing her meal, she curled up near her mother and dosed off.
Inati watched her sibling curiously.. Wondering what he was saying to himself as he paced down to the water and slowly started heading back. She wasn't sure how his mind was, but Tena's question had sent her brain realing, and now she was trying to figure out what she would say if someone asked her.

Returning from visiting Akitana in her Pride Lands, Illitashia had sought refuge in one of the lesser caves that littered the Pride Lands. She spent two nights there, and by the third morning, four new cubs had been born to Rose Wings Pride.
Grooming her children, Illitashia noted with Pride it was her largest litter yet. Two Princes, and two Princesses now lay curled against her belly.
Alaula, the grey female, was born last, just as dawn's light streaked the sky, which is where her name came from. Her black coated sister Natalia snapped at a nearby mouse as it came to investigate, and the little creature sneezed in protest, retreating.
Alaula nursed and then slept, curled between her sister and mother. She gave a tiny yawn, making her mother smile.
Natalia watched the mouse as it spoke to her mother, not yet understanding what they were saying. She glared at the little creature, dissappointed it did not fear her, and swore that soon everything that knew her would no better than to cross her.
Talcorin woke with the sun, sensing his Queen was nearby. Knowing she had probably had her cubs by now, he gave a stretch and set out to patrol the Pride Lands, deciding he would go to her once he had finished his duties.
