She glances over at Ollie, wondering why he is staring at her and talking about what? breasts? s**t....Looking down she sees her shirt has indeed come undone leaving for view the binding and the distinct indentation of her cleavage, flushing in embarrasement, the package drops to the street as she reaches up to bring the shirt closed and stand up to run off down the alley quickly, the package still in her hand.

Tears of embarrasment streaming down her face as she fled, seeking an alleyway or at least somewhere to regain her composure. At least the woman hadn't seen her as well. Course the easterner might be different but she had heard of it being crime in some places to dress as one of a different gender and she wasn't taking in chances. She very well might take her lute upside that fool sailor if she ever saw him again for pointing it out.

Now she still had to find someplace to get dinner and then a place to sleep for the night becuase she honestly wasn't sure that she could find her way back to the temple of light or that they would even welcome her there. Esp since that fool noble believed her to be hindering his sister. She was sorely tempted to just leave and continue on her journey but first she needed money and that would take time... Play a few bits get the gold and she could head out and hopefully find out where she was going at the same time.

Conflabbin'...

Setting off after the weeping young woman at a leisurely pace, Ollie mulls over a couple of thoughts in his head. He hadn't meant to make her cry...he'd just been honest. Alright, maybe it was a little insensitive to laugh - and not very subtle - but...that was just how he was. Ah well...

It was easy to track her, because even if she didn't realize it, the musician was leaving a very faint trail of water. And Ollie could find a drop of dew in a desert. His path, or rather hers, took him down a couple of alleys, a few streets, and finally he caught sight of her some ways down a random road. Yet, he never quickened his pace to accommodate hers, he figured he'd catch her eventually. Ollie liked to think he was determined; he was just plain lazy.

Their little game of cat and mouse was SO Peppy Le'Pue.

His persistence eventually won out and he caught up to the bard. Coming up behind her very calm and relaxed, he reaches out with a tattooed hand and taps her shoulder. And he didn't look at her butt when he came out behind her...promise. ninja

"Uh...lady-person? Sorry 'bout y'boobs...di'n' mean t' embarrass yuh..."

Lao noticed that Kouji had followed him, though with some difficulty. He figured that he would make it up here, and was relieved that Sey was all right. In any case, some of the things that he said rang in his head- about how he would have to work twice as hard to regain any favor he had in her eyes. He could do that... his honor was important, and in the eyes of one such as her, it had been ruined, all because of a minor shift of the eyes.

He nodded to him as he walked up. "I see that they're okay... but I'm worried about everyone else. If this oil spreads any further, and there's some source to ignite it..." He let the possibility hang in the air. The barrels would have to be taken care of first, seeing as Sey was already being escorted to safety. As he prepared to jump down to help, he simply grinned at Kouji.

"Sorry for just running off like that. I really did hear everything you said. You be sure to tell her that I'll make this up to her, and to everyone. Anyway, let's go take care of those barrels down there." Then he simply jumped down to the alleyway, and headed towards the cart to heave one of the barrels back into place.

She jumped and quickly turned towards the voice, the tears quickly wiped from her face as it looks at him angerily "Do you delight in embarrasssing.....oh never mind just leave me be....You wouldn't understand" Stifling down the quil of fear that shot through her as she saw again how very large he was compared to her.

"If you will excuse me....I ...ugh...need to go find someone...It's alright...I promise" Hopefully moving past him to go back to the street and find a vendor away from the fire to get something to eat. Her stomach was growling rather loudly at least to her ears and the stress of being found out was a bit embarrassing to say the least. He had figured it out when even the oh so superior royal person was too blind to see anything beyond his own face.

He couldn't see she was female nor that she was trying to help his sister not harm her. At that thought she turned to Ollie a smiled a genuine smile, one that lit her face and showed his estimation of her being a beatufiul female was a face. Laughing at the idoicy that was noblity she glanced back at Ollie, noting his sincerity "It's alright...honestly it is" Turning to go find some food once more.

...but Oliver wouldn't let the bard get away that easily; he didn't even know her name. Yet again catching up to her effortlessly, his gentle, sliding gait covering ground very quickly, the mariner starts padding along quietly beside her. For a couple of seconds he didn't say anything...just letting her get accustomed to him being there; he didn't want to scare or intimidate her again.

Then, after a couple of moments, he speaks without even looking at her. Not that he could anyways, the hat was over his eyes. With a surfer twang to it and a style of speech that might hint at him being 'special', his voice was just another one of those reasons that people couldn't help but smile around him.

"So...why y' dressed up like a dude? Y' think y're ugly? 'cause y're not."

Honest and without regret; perpetually relaxed and calm. Oh momma.

"...and y're hungry...why don' y' get some grub? Y' think y're fat? 'cause y're not."

Somehow he was able to stay walking comfortably beside her, although he couldn't see a damned thing...

She looked up at him, unsure why she wasn't running again, perhaps it was jsut the easy manner he had about him but she wasn't scared of him, even if she had to look up at him to try and see his face again. Besides between him and that polearm of his it wasn't likely she would be propostitioned anytime soon except maybe by him but she would deal with that when and or if the time came. Quirking a finely shaped eyebrow at him "I know I'm neither ugly or fat, I've got enough gold in my pocket to attest to that. I'm actually planning on some food if you would like to join me, my treat"

Not saying why she was dressed like a guy that would take a bit more turst ....no ahelluva lot more trust before she mentioned something like that. Besides it would take to long to explain and the sooner she got food in her gullet the sooner she could perform and get more money to line her pockets to make her life just a bit easier for a while.

She had just mentioned his favorite kind of food: the free kind. A bright smile crossing his heavily tanned, handsome features beneath his hidden eyes and sun-bleached hair, the mariner nods and quirks his head to the side slightly - a tiny gesture to show that he actually knew where she was.

"Sounds like a plan...uh...Miss Music. Wait...you have a name, right?"

Ollie was pretty damn happy that he couldn't see anything, because by the sound of her voice and the faint smell that wafted from her, he betted she was bomb. Conjugating words and stuff would work much better if he wasn't thinking with mini-Oliver.

Also, even though he couldn't see anything, Oliver maneuvered his spear and body so he didn't bump into anything. Boy's got skills.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 03, 2004 11:11 pm

Miss Music, that was an interesting honorific to be sure. Chuckling she swung the long braid out of her way as she grinned, curtsing slightly even tho he couldn't see her "Mistress Kadoria Silvis, Minstral at your service Sir....?" trailing off waiting for an introduction as well, paying no maind to anyone around her as she headed towards the doors to a tavern. After a morning like this she was wanting a seat to get to know her companion and relax a bit.

The guise was gone and she didn't really care to be honest, it was unlikely that he would be anywhere near here at least for a while. Hopefully she would be long gone by then. Right now her priority was her stomach. She didn't wait to see if he would push the door open for her or not, everyone else would still think her male and that was what mattered.

"Two ales and two pies "normally if she had been dressed as a female she would have said please but to keep up the guise of a teenaged male she had to be at least a bit rude. She jangled the purse slightly, enough to get the wenches attention then finds a bench to sit down on motioning Ollie over.

"Ain't no sir 'bout it, 'doria. I'm Oliver Squalle, m'pappy didn't name me 'sir'. You can jus' call me Ollie, though."

Were his words as he took a seat beside her, awaiting his free pie and ale. Free: the word just had a ring to it. Free. Freeeee. Freee-eeeee. Oh yeah, that's the stuff. Ollie still couldn't see a thing, as his hat was pulled low on his head and the stark blonde hair sticking out from beneath the brim veiled his eyes heavily. Not that he cared.

Smiling goofily as he always did, Oliver set his bluish spear on the ground beside him, within easy reach. He didn't think it would be neccessary, but one can never be too careful... Pointing his face in her general direction to add a bit of intimacy to their conversation, the Squalle-man raises an eyebrow - although she can't see it.

"S'what's goin' on?"

Just a general question. 'What's going on?' ...just making conversation.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 03, 2004 11:44 pm

What's going on? such a simple question with far too complex of an answer. She shakes her head, not really caring if he saw or not, tho she wasn't sure he couldn't. She simply chuckled as they were served their pie and ale, taking a quick drink from the cup, trying not to puke from the taste. She much preferred a wine, but as a boy she would be expected to want ale, so ale she drank and at least it got the soot out of her throat so she could sing properly later.

"not much, getting food, then going to see about another performance somewhere, need the gold in my pocket you see" her voice once more that of a young boy as she spoke, jsut in case someone was listening. She had enough gold right now for a simple dress and their lunch but unless she wanted to go back to the temple she needed enough for a place to stay.

Ollie opened his mouth to say something, but... he... lost his train of thought. After a few moments, the mariner rose to his feet and angled his head at the musical young woman.

"Uh, sorry to bone out like this, but I just 'membered I got some place t'be."

Kicking the spear up into his hands, Oliver touches a finger to his forehead-area in salute, then turns to walk away. As he reached the door, a thought struck him. Turning just slightly, he pushes up the brim of his hat with his spear to reveal his eyes. He wanted a look at the young woman. He wasn't disappointed.

Grinning slightly to himself as he throws one last wave, the sea-man turns and slides out the door.

She blinked, people here were so strange.. his loss. She let him go with a slight nod "alright" Before eating both his and her pies hungerily as she licked her fingers she considered where to go next. Paying the wench, she headed out once more to explore and to find a suitable location to ply her trade.

Lunch wasn't as expensive as she thought and she could get her dress still, tho she wouldn't head back to the same store as before. IF she never saw the 'royalty' again it would still be far too soon. The child was adorable, the brother was an idiot....probably the product of too much inbreeding. She stepped from the tavern and made her way to another stall.

She still had a bruise on her wrist from where the 'princeling' had grasped her, but she ignored it, she bruised far too easily anyways. This she would cover up easily. She made her way yet another stand and purchased a few sparkling bracelets to jangle upon her wrists much like a gypsy but at least the marks would be covered.

This time she picked out a very colorful simple dress, one that would allow her freedom of moment, that with the bodice would be all she needed. She happily paid for the purchase with all but her two last gold coins and slipped into an alley, where she made sure she was not watched, changing quicker than should be possilbe but gained through lots of practice, trial and error. Slippng her dagger through to free her breasts from their bondage.

Out of the alleyway she was no longer a scrawny teenager but a beautiful young woman, who had eastern features, a lute upon her back and a song in her heart. Just a few steps away from her was a good spot. A few blocks away from the fire incident, so the 'blood' would not most likely come this way but instead head for the temple or some such.

Making her way to a vendor, he sees the lute and immediately offers her a chair and a bucket, placing them behind her as if she were a queen and in fact it would be truth shortly. She held herself regally as if nothing had happened to phase her. Tuning the lute before beginning the first song that came to mind.....Reminding her of false lovers and promises left unfulfilled her own mind turning into a maze of emotion as she sang, drawing a crowd around her at the beautiful voice, even the dun of the street dying down.

"Thug mé grá duit is mé beag bídeach
Ó chuir mé barr air is mé mór míllteach
Ní hé sin an grá a thug an t-uan don chaora
Ach gra buan daingean nach féidir a scaoileadh.

Scéal ar an grá is nach mairg a thug é
Do aon mhac mathar ariamh nár thuig é
Mo chroí ‘na lar o d’fhag sé dubh é
‘s ní fheicfidh mé ar an tsraid ná in áit ar bith eile é."

They may not have understood the words but they understood the love, hate and loss behind the words. It wasn't a song many would have chosen but she felt the need to get it out of her system, in her own way paying the 'princling" back for the caustic treatment even were she to never meet him again. If he were to ever hear it, he would've felt it to the depths of his soul, so it was a good thing he did not.

"Thug tú gealladh dom ach rinne tú breag liom
Go mbeitheá romham ag cró na gcaorach
Ó lig me fead ort is dha chéad beicigh
Ach ní bhfuair mé aon fhreagra ach na huain ag meileach.

Chuir tú amach mé‘s bhi an oíche baisteach
Fuaireas titim mhór a’ dul síos le fana
Nior dhuirt tú Dia linn is bhí tú I lathair
‘s nar b’fhurasta aithne dhomsa go raibh fuath ag mo ghrá dom."

She cared not for him one way or the other but she pitied the people under his charge, except for his sister they would not know any difference perhaps but that was what her charge was to seek out injustice and in her own way seek to repair it. She could not do so however at this moment, tho someday she would show him the error, she only prayed to the light that it was before he had destroyed too many lives.

"Duirt mo mhathair liom, a stór gan labhairt leat
Inniú na amarach na De Domhnaigh
Nach dona an trath a bhfuair mé an fogra
Is é an fal ar an ngort é tar eis na foghla.

Deir siad liomsa go bhfuil me mealltach
Go bhfuil fear eile agam in aice baile
Ó lucht na mbreag ach na raibh rath orthu
Beidh mise ag mo stóirín is na raibh maith acu."

Her voice so powerful and commanding it mezemerized the entire street, even the hounds refused to whimper. The beautiful young woman however was completely oblvious to the quickly quieting din as she sang, the silence spreading like a magic spell tho there was no magic involved only the natural magic in her blood, that of a true bard uncontained. Eventaully anyone within hearing of her song stopped to listen, carrying for several blocks in the silence.

((I didn't put in the translation since it was more of a mood than the words, since it could be taken too literally and then would not make sense xp ))

((This still makes me angry. Yeah, still. I was feeling better last night, but now I'm getting pissed again.

Tiel's mother died in a cart accident. Tiel recognized the shogun's daughter. Tiel was helped by Kadoria. I would've liked a chance for Tiel to have a chance to get involved in the mess before you all decided to say 'oh, it's fine now, the kids aren't in trouble anymore so we're just going to ignore the crazed horses that might ignite the oil.'

Is the horse still on fire? Is it still prancing around like a maniac while you all are playng out your little drama? If it is, it would've been pretty damn certain that the oil would've gone up in flames. Or was the horse somehow intelligent enough to put the fire out? I was skimming through a lot of the posting, so I may have missed it, but......

Anyway, I'm going to make it so ya'll don't have to worry about that. And if the man did restrain his horse and I missed it, well....it didn't happen, cause this happened first.))

"Oh...thank you," Tiel said as the lad, who thankfully seemed to speak fluent western, ushered her to her father's stall. Then something cold and metal was pressed into her hand, and Tiel glanced down. A gold coin. "Please, I don't need this-!"

But by the time she had looked up, the boy had vanished into the crowd. Bewildered, Tiel plunked the exquisite chair down with the rest of the furniture and prepared to head home.

Before she had taken two steps, a horse was rearing up, as though trying to avoid someone, something...just the same as that day...spirits, no, please, no one else could be trampled....

Tiel would never forget the way her body had looked. The once beautiful woman's chest had been crushed, blood seeping into her clothes and out onto the street. Everyone was gathered round, trying to help, while a runner went to the light temple...then, white robes all around, their spells able to do nothing to bring her mother back. The magi could heal her body, but they could nothing if the soul had already fled.

Tiel's heart beat faster, and the girl plunged into the rapidly clearing crowd around the scene...until she was suddenly wrenched back by a force that felt as though it would tear her arm from her socket. Francis, the big, burly apprentice her father had left in charge of the stall, was gripping her upper arm and pulling her towards him, the way one might reel in a fish.

"Let me go!" she shouted at him, though her voice was lost in the din of the marketplace. "I won't let it happen again!"

But he didn't let go, just caught her up in a big bear hug so she couldn't move at all. She could still see, though, as something set the horse on fire and it began to move more wildly than ever. Something smoldered within her, something very much like what she felt when Thomas and Calagon teased her...the same helpless, potent anger. This time, though, a gate seemed to open, a tiny channel to push the emotion through, to use it to accomplish something useful. With a wordless shout, Tiel shoved all of it into the tiny opening.

Her knees shook as the feeling traveled down her legs, into her shadow, moving outwards, slipping from shadow to shadow as it swiftly made its way towards the rampaging horse. There was a moment of calm, stillness before the storm. Then tentacles of light's absence snaked out from the horse's shadow, seizing it in every conceivable place, binding it to where it stood. The horse was frozen in a posture of fear, obviously sweating and straining against its bonds, but going nowhere.

Tiel slumped forward, her legs unable to hold her. Francis scooped her up, cradling her in his arms like a baby. He probably thought she had fainted at the sight of the dark magic. He probably didn't connect it with her. She didn't even know if she should connect it with her. Maybe it was just some wandering dark mage, who'd decided to help out...Tiel didn't know how to do that.
