I'm here for you Suni. We can talk about jezzy in a literate fashion. ;3

I'd like to bring up a on topic topic. Gong to church itself. While it is considered the house of god, I don't feel I need it to express my faith.

I believe we have a god, but, its not male or female. Its not one, or many. Its just is. We cannot explain it, but, we know it to exist and be a part of us. I think that this being is fair even if we don't see it a fair. I think that it wants whats best for the world, not just mankind. But, this being can only do so much. We make our own world. It can only give us a gentle nudge.

ANYWAY.
I don't think church is nessicary tool to communicate with your faith system. I mean, shouldn't your god listen no matter where you are?

So many people ramble that "You can't be Christian unless you go to Church" blah, blah, blah...

Likewise, I could tell any of them that alot of people who go to Church couldn't call themselves Christians...
Also, everyone at my church seems to be treating it like "Oh, it's our church, we bought it, blarrrggg" when.... "Umm, dude, it's nobodies church. The people who go there are the church, not the building......wtf's wrong with you??"

I'm Christian, but I don't always go to church, infact, I don't quite often, and when I do I'm often put into a state of disbelief over how sad of a place I'm still stuck at.
...Since mah church sucks... and, and... fails at life... and needs SERIOUS help.

...but, the church is just that, if it works the way it should work, it's a communal place of worship.
It's not the place that pertains to anything, it's the people... Anyway, yeah.
I think it's a good thing for myself every one and a while, but overall I like to avoid my church...

ninja

...I should sneak a video camera into that place and film some of the crap that goes on, you guys would be amazed.
Especially when service is starting, and our heads feel like they're going to explode because Pastor (Nameremoved) and everyone else felt it was needed to pick THE WORST examples of modern Christian music he could possibly think of, then set them to a really disturbing slideshow that has pictures of lil' Christian families... but they're all the scariest families you could imagine 'cause they all look like someone took a truck load of amish people and dumped them off in our town....SERIOUSLY.

O_O

...and I think they all want us to look just like the scary conformist families of doom, afterall, wearing black MUST mean I worship satan, and wearing any form of chains MUST symbolize that I'm a slave to sex. O_o
Don't ask, I'm actually quoting someone. Yes, that's for real.
...As for my period clothes, and cosplays... Well, those are OBVIOUSLY fetishes. rolleyes

Ahh, and here I am, only supposed to speak good of the church I belong to... I feel bad, but these things must be vented. I must let them out...

;-;

*clings to Vamps*
....Scaaaallpells, and, and, and, eyeballs...preeettty eyes, like cats eyes....and pain... pain makes the other pain go awaaaaayyyyy...
*starts hyperventilating, then falls out of chair, dragging the mouse off of the desk with me*

I remember when I stopped thinking going to church was in any way a necessary part of my life.

It was during high school. Our church had been having transitional issues and we had an interim pastor at the moment. One who was going to be asked to be our permanent pastor. My father and I were sitting together in the service and I was trying to pay attention when something just didn't sound right. I tried to sort it out and it really didn't sound right. The words coming out of the pastor's mouth seemed utterly contrary to what I'd been taught and raised with. Confused, I leaned over and whispered in my dad's ear, asking him if I was misunderstanding. With his words and tone of voice, he conveyed that, no, I wasn't and he wasn't happy either. When thinking of the fallibility of pastors and churches, my mind always goes back to that moment. I haven't really trusted my home church since.

On the other hand when I do wish to attend a service, I go to a local Catholic church near the campus. I should add my home church was Evangelical Lutheran (ELCA synod). I feel comfortable at this Catholic church and I trust the Father there. He knows I am not Catholic but we also know that our differences aren't that great and he is very kind and open to discussion. If only either of us had the time to discuss!

I went to church this morning with my Dad at the old ELCA church. I think it was the first service I've attended in over a year. redface

Don't feel bad Sir_Catherine, you're far more faithful to your religion than I am! biggrin I haven't attended synagogue once since I was Bat Mitzvah’d at age 14 (though it should have been 13 redface ) nearly 4 years ago. Well, actually I attended two Mitzvoth ceremonies after that (my younger sister's and one of her friend's), but that's about it. ninja
