Just curious. What are the religious stances of our members? If you're not comfortable with sharing said information, that's ok. There is no obligation to post. I was just wondering is all, since, ya know, Hellsing deals with a lot of religion and such.

Lutheran. Though I go to a rather open Catholic church. Long story on that one, though I'll share if anyone is interested.

Crown, Country, Church hits a deep chord with me.

I do believe in a God, but I'm not so sure about Jesus. I live my life being a good person, and believe in karma. I believe in treating others well, even if you don't know them. I believe the stuff in the bible could be true, but that it shouldn't be taken so literally. I also believe in forgiveness and possibly reincarnation and ghosts. I'm not sure what religion to call that....

I was raised Catholic, but I am open to hearing about all religions. I'm not entirely certain exactly what I believe, but I know I do believe that religion is a journey, not a destination, and that one must keep an open mind.

Open mind: inviting your non-catholic friend to your catholic church and making her feel welcome. smile

I have rather strong opinons on some matters, and not so much on others. Grace of God and/vs good works being one of the strong opinon subjects that comes to mind.

Yes, indeed. We should go to church again someday soon. I believe mainly in forgiveness, good works, and possibilities. With God, all things are possible.

I was catholic, but quit when I realized that their written doctrine and rules were completely different from the ones that are usually enforced by the vatican. Also ratzenger btw...
I have no religion anymore, though some shinto traditions are appealing..

My mom was a nun and my dad was studying to be a priest in the catholic church when they were younger. But then they met and got married and then stopped going to church. So, I grew up not going to church, but knowing enough about the catholic religion to not sound liek too much of an idiot when people talked about it. xD But don't really have a religion.

Well, actually, I'm part of the Church of Megamion. xP *lol* I believe in ghosts, possible reincarnation, the possibility of a God, but not as people see it. Above all I just think everyone should get along, not hurt anyone, and just be nice to each other.

Why yes, indeed it is. Why do you ask?

Religion is the adherence to codified beliefs and rituals that (generally) involve a faith in a spiritual nature and a study of inherited ancestral traditions, knowledge and wisdom related to understanding human life. The term "religion" refers to both the personal practices related to faith as well as to the larger shared systems of belief.
So in these terms all of you share a profound interest and practice of religion. What many of you say you lack religion is actually a lack in a particular denomination. I come from a country that is predominantly christen but accepts all other faiths and allows freedom of religion. Every where I live has the right to choose what constitutes proper spirituality. I was raised in a christen back ground but I have been encouraged to find the denomination. I have been to many places of worship and many of the values that best represents my inner can be found in all of them. Many people who have debated with me on religion say christens pick and choose. I believe to except one reality is to be blind to all others. I do not believe the heart of religion is exclusive. I find flaws in the statements that lead to one to choose a single denomination. I grow wary of those who stand by all of there truth while disregarding some one else's. Do I do the same? Yes in many ways I disregard other peoples faith. I cannot follow all the rules of the many religions instill on there people. I certainly can follow the rule and values that run parallel through them all.
Religion and spirituality is a touchy subject because it so deeply evolves the most inner values of each person. Much of the questions the derives from the subject are rarely simple. My past has be littered with many of uneasy and borderline offensive conversations. I go on learning about others and my own personal spirituality in each encounter. The odd thing is I don't often search them out. The curious seem to find me and with always a simple question such as, "What is your religion."

Maybe I should specify my question then? What I sort of meant was just "What do you believe in?" maybe. I wasn't expecting this to be analyzed....

Unfortunately that is the nature of belief. Since it is such a wide and versatile topic. It has been debated by the greatest minds in history. Yet it has neither been debunked or proven. Every person has a valued opinion on the subject. Even if they cannot without a doubt prove the validity of there stance they are emotionally bonded to there choice and opinions. Beliefs has started wars and caused many death in its name. Never does any one mean any harm when they ask. As long as we share freely and do not begin to debate then we do not risk hurting or trampling over someone else beliefs.

Don't get me wrong I am not hear to debate. I was merely adding that I have been in many yet I do not truly enjoy them. I only added it as a warning to what can prelude to this question and nothing more.

Hm, guess I'm first to put this in the mix.

I'm Jewish, funnily enough. But I'm not too bothered by the Nazis, because they're not exactly...realistic, and there aren't actually any anti-Jewish themes in the manga (that I've seen yet...)

Although I do sometimes feel a bit guilty that some of the Millenium characters are my favorites... stare
