Ia sighed a little at Rick's question but didn't answer; he didn't know. He couldn't understand how a father could hate his son so much as to order assassins to kill him. Lifting Rick's head gently and replacing his lap with a cushion once more.
"Hungry?" he asked instead as he put a frying pan on the fire and cracked a couple of eggs over it. He was even if Rick wasn't.
While the eggs cooked Ia searched for the best way to tell Rick what he knew. He was obviously well enough to understand why he couldn't go running back to his father now.
"While I was searching through the castle looking for what's going on I... I ran into your father," he said eventually, keeping his back turned to Rick as he cooked. "I spoke to him, trying to get him to do something and telling what we had heard that 'friend' of your say. He... he knew about it. And..." He turned to face Rick then, trying to show him both how serious this was as well as how hard it was for him to say anything, "And it was him who ordered the assassin to kill you, said he couldn't allow any of his sons to rule, least of all you." It was blunt as could be but Ia was a fairly blunt person and he felt this wasn't a matter that should be avoided.

Ricks face went from a blank slate to a surprised and hurt look. He couldn't believe his own father would command such a thing. He refused to believe it...his won father? This had to be a mistake...
Rick looked away slightly, closing his eyes tightly. "This...can not be..." Rick said quietly to himself. It just didn't seem right.
The prince rose, standing up with his head down. He wanted to get out...he wanted to leave...he wanted to know straight from the horses mouth. Yet something in him told him that he could possibly get killed if he tried to venture back to the palace.
Rick walked past Ia and looked for the exit, he needed to get some air...he needed to get out...
The prince soon found himself out of the basement and out onto the streets. It was dark, but the moon gave him the light he needed to walk along the streets.
Straying away from the house, not knowing where he was going he found himself lost, yet surprising in front a pub. He pushed the door in and noticed the grungy looking characters, drunk, playing cards, or off in their own little world as a woman sang on stage.
Rick sat in a corner. It wasn't an empty corner thanks to two men. They were already half drunk when he sat down at the table next to them.
A waitress came up asking for his order instantly. Rick just shrugged and asked for what the guys beside him had. The woman nodded and returned to the bar grabbing him a bottle and a cup. She walked back soon after and placed it in front of him.
Rick wasn't much of a drinker. However he wasn't one to turn down a way out of his thoughts. Slowly he reached over to the bottle and poured the liquid into his cup. Hesitating, the prince looked at his cup. Finally he pulled the cup to his lips and swallowed. As he swallowed he could feel the burning sensation go down his throat. It was painful at first but the more he drank the less it hurt.

"W-wait! s**t," Ia said as Rick suddenly up and left. Taking the pan off the fire and leaving the half cooked eggs, he re-buckled on his knife sheaths before leaving the basement. Going to the front door he looked up and down the street to see Rick gone.
"Did you see what way he went?" he asked Pops who was reading by lamplight.
Without looking up from his book the man pointed down the street to the right and Ia hurried out, cursing him. Rick wouldn't know the first thing about surviving in this area! He would be jumped on and mugged before he knew what hit him.
Asking people as he went on, deliberately making his accent obvious to gain their trust, he eventually found the tavern Rick had found himself at. Not the most reputable place in town but at least it wasn't the worst.
Spotting him in the corner drinking himself into a stupor, Ia went over and sat down opposite him, taking both the bottle and cup away from him. "That solves nothing," he hissed quietly. "Unless you want to end up like them," he pointed with his chin to a couple of drunken slobs who he knew were the type to spend all day every day at the bar drinking and oblivious to everything. "The only way to fix this is to work through it and you cant do that drunk."

Rick coughed a little looking at Ia. His voice seemed distorted and it was hard to focus on him.
"I dun cares...hes tried killing me!" Rick said half drunk already.
The princes body wasn't use to the alcohol. He had been sheltered most of his life, and his morals had led him to believe alcohol wasn't the best thing to have during any meal, or any time of day, however he felt out of his mind.
The men beside their table seemed to have passed out already. The womans voice seemed to echo through the princes head. It was painful to listen to her now. He looked up and saw Ia. He seemed stunning, the light above his head made him look angelic. Rick closed his eyes and laid his head down.
Rick coughed again and felt his body burn. It was a strange sensation and he felt uncomfortable sitting in the wooden chair.
"I cant do it..." he said, not exactly referring to anything.

An eyebrow rose and he said, keeping his voice down so listeners wouldn't hear, "I'm surprised he's the first but he will hardly be the last. You're the heir to the throne, anyone who is against your father's or you regime. Best get used to it." All acting of course. In truth Ia was as horrified by what his own father had done but if Rick couldn't move past this and become stronger because of it, then his father was right and he would never be a competant ruler.
He sighed slightly. If he had never figured out Rick's true identity he wouldn't have any problems to the two of them hanging out here... come to think of it if he hadn't figured it out Rick would probably be dead by now by the assassin's hand. Nonetheless, with him obviously quite drunk already (a fact Ia would have found hilarious under different circumstances) and anything could come out. Waving the bartender over he ordered another bottle before standing and hurling Rick to his feet.
"You can do it, and you will. You were strong enough to run off and come all the way here, if a little ignorant, you can be strong enough to get through this too. Come on," he said. "You can drink at home," before forcibly leading him out of the tavern.

Rick stumbled about a bit while being forced out of the pub. He put a hand to Ia's face and sighed.
"you dunt have to worryz abut being an princess...luk arnt youz?" Rick said chuckling a bit before pulling away from the thief. He had his head lowered most of the time, chuckling now and then about nothing. He couldn't wait for another drink.
"home..." Rick whispered to himself before coughing. "I dunt want to be a prince...not now...neverz again." He finished his thought.

Ia scoffed at Rick's words. "Not like I'd want to either, wearing tight dresses and all. Then I'd have to dance with you," he said with a grin, leading Rick home.
He sighed a little to his later words, not sure if his thoughts would be worth being heard when Rick was in this state but he tried anyway. "If you don't then your homeland will be given over to another kingdom to use as they will. I don't know much history and I'm not exactly well educated, but I do know that they would likely consider your, our, home and its citizens to be second class. You don't want that happening do you?" he said, hoping that somewhere his words would strike a cord. He may have been born here but he had made his new home in Rick's country and didn't want to see it destroyed.
Reaching their home, Ia guided Rick inside and down the stairs to the basement that was their home. At least here they were safe. "Lay down on the bed and go to sleep," Ia said, hoping Rick would do so and fall asleep without drinking more.

Laying down Rick turned to look at Ia with heavy lidded eyes. Even in his state he felt some real emotions that couldn't be affected by the alcohol.
"I..not going to givez up...may be go down..." Rick began to say, "there wunt be none otherz..." the prince finished.
He slowly began to drift off into his dreams where he slept peacefully.
Rick tossed over on one side and mumbled a few things to himself as he continued to sleep. The feeling of determination was growing ever so fast now.

Ia smiled a little, even though he couldn't really understand what he was getting at, at what he sad and as he drifted into sleep. He looked at the now cold eggs, scowled and tossed them into the fire, cooking another batch just for himself this time. As he ate he turned his attention to the sleeping Rick. Going over to the bed he sat down on the ground with his back to the bed, watching Rick sleep as he finished his meal and placed the plate aside. Seeing a lock of hair haning in Rick's face he reached out and brushed it away gently, a soft smile of affection crossing his face.
Gathering a few blankets and pillows he made something of a nest for himself and was also asleep relatively quickly infront of the fire.

Rick coughed and slowly woke to find Ia sleeping by the fire. He held his head and coughed a little more, covering his mouth with his arm though. The prince didn't want to wake Ia. he was still a bit out of it as he sat there in bed.
Running his finger through his hair he looked around the room for a moment before laying back down, coughing lightly now.
"I need...a drink," he said to himself coughing again. Yet he wasn't about to move from his comfortable position. The prince yawned and closed his eyes again, it was far to early to think and or do anything so he watched Ia before drifting off again.

Ia started to wake when Rick first coughed, attuned as he was to any noises he might wake while sleeping from when he had a fever and Ia was caring for him. The second cough he was well and truely awake and he sat up not long after Rick had drifted off to sleep again. Glancing over to him, he saw he was asleep and got up, resting the back of his hand against Rick's forehead, worried that the cough may be illness but he didn't have any.
Gathering a few things he made breakfast for the two of them, indulging in what little coffee the old man who was hiding them had to offer. Likely Rick would need some to combat any hangover he used to have. They would have to discuss what they would do now that Rick knew his father's true intentions. He wasn't sure exactly what he, an uneducated thief, could do to help but he wasn't about to let his new home be taken over.

Rick woke, smelling food, and a fresh batch of coffee. The aroma was invigorating, yet his head hurt horribly. Slowly he rose groaning and moaning as the pain followed as he sat up.

Hearing the groan from behind him Ia turned and gave a half smile, almost encouraging. "Here," he said turning back and dishing out their breakfast and pourin some coffee. Carring the plate and mug he handed them over before sitting on the floor nearby with his own. "Might make you feel better with something in your stomach. Drinking is kind of the worst thing you can do when you're upset," he said as he nibbled at his own food.
He longed to ask what Rick planned on doing now, since they couldn't impose upon pops for much longer, but he didn't want to push him, not yet anyway.

Rick took the mug and plate of food and began eating as soon as possible. He was starving, and had to agree with what Ia had said but he didn't know what else to do. He never had to worry about anything until recently.'
"I...I am terribly sorry..." he said hanging his head.
He knew he was in the wrong last night. Of course the prince was emberassed by his actions. He began to blush slightly at the thought of how he probably acted that night.
"Thank you kindly..." he wasnt sure what he was thanking Ia for. Maybe it was the food...maybe the drink, maybe the fact he stuck by him the whole time. "I'm sorry for bringing you into this..." Rick stopped eating and thought to himself.

Ia smiled softly up at Rick when he appologised and said, "It's alright... you know, I drank myself stupid when my parents were killed. Of course, having your family killed doesnt really match up to your father betraying you but..." he shrugged realizing he had probably just dug himself into a whole. To cover his embaressment he stuffed his face again. And to push away those unpleasant memories and what had followed.
He swallowed and smirked, his playful self again. "I would have been brought into it anway," he said. "Only it would have been your father who did so instead of you and frankly, I would rather be involved with you than him." He shrugged. "Reguardless of whether your father ended up succeeding or not my new home would have been plunged into civil war likely; I can't imagine everyone agreeing to Showron just walking in and taking over. The organized theif gangs are nearly always hired as spies and thieves and sabotures and I was pretty well known for my stealth so likely I would be involved anyway. Just I wouldn't know what I was fighting for, just that it put a silver lining on my pockets," he said with a grin. He had a feeling Rick was pretty ignorant as to just how much an important role thieves played in society, or what they saw as an important role.
