Likes: Reading, making friends, helping her friends, learning new things, practicing magic Dislikes: When her friends don't take her seriously, being shut out of her loved ones' lives About: Twilight Sparkle was inspired to become the best unicorn she could be when, at the Summer Sun celebration when she was a filly, she saw Princess Celestia raising the sun. She later impressed Celestia herself at the examination to enter an academy for gifted young unicorns. The princess took her as her personal student (coincidentally, the second time her family has gained royal recognition--her brother is the captain of the royal guard).
As Celestia is wont to do, she decided to meddle in her student's life and, along the way, sew the seeds of peace and protection for the entire kingdomqueendomprincessdom realm by sending Twilight to the tiny town of Ponyville in order to set up the Summer Sun Celebration and possibly make some friends. Those friends turned quite handy when she was forced to confront the superpowered evil side of her mentor's sister, Nightmare Moon.
Ever since defeated Nightmare Moon (and becoming the bearer of the Element of Magic), Twilight has gone on many adventures and defended Equestria using the fabled Elements of Harmony twice. It's not all dire catastrophes, though--she and her friends keep a steady stream of letters going back to Celestia, dutifully telling her all about their adventures, from babysitting newborn ponies to chasing away dragons. Everything is an opportunity to learn in disguise.
After accomplishing magic that even her idol, Starswirl the Bearded, was unable to learn, she's ascended to being a princess.

Shining Armor--My BBBFF (Big Brother, Best Friend Forever)! He was the first friend I ever had, and we used to do everything together. We don't see each other much since I moved to Ponyville, though, since he's still got a job in Canterlot as the Captain of the Royal Guard. He specializes in protection magic, and I miss him. I need to get him to write more.
Princess Cadenza mi Amore--But she prefers Cadence. My sister-in-law (I'm told she married my brother partially so we could be related!), but also a sister in my heart. She was my foalsitter, and she was the best foalsitter ever! I couldn't hope for a better mare for my brother.
Friends
Princess Celestia--My teacher. I want to make her proud to have me as a student.
Spike--I met Spike the day I got my cutie mark; I helped him hatch out of my egg, and that got the attention of princess Celestia. He's a baby dragon, and I worry about him a lot. He keeps me company, and even if we don't always get along, I know he's also trying to look out for me, too.
Pinkie Pie--my boisterous, party-loving, laughing friend (representing the Element of Laughter). Sometimes she does things I don't quite understand, but her laughter has saved us on many occasions, and always brightens our day.
Applejack--my apple-farming friend (representing the Element of Honesty). She's hard-working and likes to help others. She's an inspiration, and I don't know what we'd do without her (and besides, her family makes some wonderful food!).
Rainbow Dash--my athletic pegasus friend (representing the Element of Loyalty). She loves to win, but I've seen her forego winning to help someone or to help one of us. That's why she's the Loyal one. Her need for speed always provides an...interesting viewpoint, even if she's a little hot under the collar.
Rarity--my fashionista friend (representing the Element of Charity). Her creations are beautiful, but I wish she'd stop being so perfectionist or insisting that everything be fancy. I think she'd be happier that way.
Fluttershy--my shy, animal-loving friend (representing the Element of Kindness). Sweet and soft-spoken, Fluttershy can nevertheless be very aggressive if the need calls for it (like if someone is in danger).
Zecora--A zebra folklorist and potions-maker who lives in the Everfree Forest. She always seems to have obscure information for us that nopony else knows.
Owloicius--an owl that lives with me in my library. Very helpful! Though he and Spike don't always get along.
Princess Luna--Princess Celestia's sister, the guardian of the night. She's adjusting nicely to life on the ground again, after a millennium stuck in the moon. I don't know her as well as I know her sister, but I'd like to get to know her better.
Enemies
Nightmare Moon--the superpowered evil side of Princess Luna. When she kidnapped Princess Celestia, we united to use the Elements of Harmony for the first time. It looks like Nightmare Moon is gone for good (though the celebration in her honor, Nightmare Night, continues as normal), but treating Luna like she's still Nightmare Moon makes her very unhappy.
The Amazing Trixie--Uuuuuuugh. Ignorant, arrogant, show-off unicorn that likes to rub people's faces in their own supposed inferiority.
Discord--a chaotic draconequus who was one of the reasons the Elements of Harmony were created in the first place. We had to fight him when he attempted to corrupt Equestria with his chaos. For what he did to all of us--turning our own passions against us to turn us against our Elements--I will never, ever forgive him.
Queen Chrysalis--the queen of the changelings who imitated Cadence in order to weaken my brother's magic. I'm glad that she was banished, and I hope we don't see her again.
Parasprites--Uuuuuugh! Annoying, fuzzy, flying fluffballs that reproduce at the speed of light. Gave my friends and me trouble when Princess Celestia visited once by nearly eating the town. Next time I see one, I'm going to find a trombone first thing.
