And sure, hitting water hurts... But at least it wasn't ground. He didn't go splat... Actually, in real life, the way water is, falling at that speed would still kill you. Water becomes solid-like under certain circumstances, like things hitting it at high enough speeds. That's why things like skipping rocks works. Of course, this isn't real life, and I don't think they would've had him fall in the water if he was going to die from it.
