Kakaru turned around sharply as he heard the loud noise.

He raised his eyebrows, and shrugged nervously. "Last year on a young, feeble Hufflepuff who saw me using Severus's infamous Sectumsempra" he said, with an amused expression as he recalled the event. "Though it'll be rather hard finding her through this crowd," he murmured as he shoved aside someone as they nearly ran into him.

He quickened his pace as he attempted to elude the horde of students, grasping his wand tightly as he continued chasing the girl. "Do you happen to know her name?" He asked her, turning his head back to face her as he kept up the pursuit.

Tori groaned as she sat up in annoyance. She looked down at her blood-drenched shirt. "Got hexed by Kakaru. Punched him in the nose and got in bloody trouble with a teacher."

Atra sighed heavily as she followed Kakaru down the corridor.

"Hopefully we'll find her before she reaches her compartment. Or, better yet, everyone else will have left already, and it'll only be the three of us." She elbowed an annoying boy who had just brushed his hand against her rear in the face, and continued on as though nothing had happened.

Atra shrugged half heartedly as she tried to recall the girl's name. "Lightwing, I think. Alicia?...Angelica? Ah, why do we need to know her name, anyway?"

She twirled her wand nervously between her fingers. "If we get sent to Azkaban for any reason, I completely blame you. Just so you know."

"I was hoping to disarm her, it could be easier. If she was wandless, she'd either have to come back for it or cower in fear somewhere... which would be easier than pursuing her, you know?" Kakaru said, feeling somewhat disappointed that his idea wouldn't work.

Kakaru snickered at the thought. "We can't get sent to Azkaban /yet/, we haven't done anything wrong, technically. Talking about doing something illegal is perfectly fine, though that just means that they'll keep tabs on us until we do something illegal..." He fell silent after that, as he remembered other people were still present.

"Curses, this is ridiculous," he murmured as he waited for a crowd to go by, and then murmured "Immobulus," with his wand directed at the girl they were pursuing. "I don't know if I got her," he said quietly as he tip-toed, as an attempt to see past the crowd.

Atra rolled her eyes dramatically at his back, adding a great sigh to complete the whole effect. "You know, if you were trying to comfort me about not being sent to prison, that 'yet' bit kind of ruined it. I think you did it on purpose," she sniffed.

She sniggered as he tried to see above the heads of the people in front of them.

"You do realize that, on the off chance that you did hit our girl, we should probably be moving towards her, right? Someone's bound to undo your charm soon, you know. Besides, it's quite easy to find someone who isn't moving, especially among this lot," she gestured to the throng of people around them and continued walking.

"Oh," Atra threw over her shoulder, "And if I get detention for not being in my robes, I'll blame you for that, too."

PostPosted: Sat Sep 01, 2007 9:44 pm

"I don't think I know how to comfort people," Kakaru said sneering, as he considered the truth of the statement. "Though, it can't be that bad, I don't know about you, but I'm sure I'll find a few people I know there."

"I'm hoping she fell into a compartment, because I doubt anybody would notice her then. And, well, if she did get hit, then she'd be slowed down by it, and that'd be helpful, wouldn't it?" Kakaru said, slightly irked at how she picked apart his idea that easily.

"And when you blame me for all of this, I'm going to kindly remind you that you came into my compartment into the first place, and you are the one who decided to pursue the girl," Kakaru noted, raising his eyebrow at her as he turned around briefly.

"Ah, yes, I'm sure they'll be up to a lengthy conversation after a few years with the dementors," Atra stated, wondering if Kakaru knew anyone who'd been released from Azkaban. She did, and he wasn't exactly...right.

"It would be helpful if she'd been slowed down. It wouldn't be helpful if someone had noticed and she'd attracted a bit of attention. I'd rather duel one moving target than a dozen moving and one immobile." Once again, she felt as though she was stating the obvious. "I don't know about you, though. You do seem to enjoy a challenge."

Atra felt a sudden, violent urge to curse Kakaru's moving eyebrows right off his face. Instead, she settled for sticking her tongue out at his back in a very childish manner. "And then I shall kindly remind you that I was gonig to leave until you stopped me, that you forgot to cast a charm to block unwanted ears, and that you are the one who decided to shoot off random spells in the middle of a busy corridor."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 02, 2007 4:46 pm

"Hmmm, well then, this isn't getting us anywhere. As much as I love disputing with you down this corridor chasing after a girl we don't even know the name of, let's just find her later, eh? We don't seem to be making progress of any sort, and I doubt that anybody else is going this direction. When two Slytherins are pursuing a Gryffindor in the opposite direction, someone is bound to notice, and if anything happens to her, I think all eyes will be on us. Therefore, let's find her later in a more isolated area and do whatever we need to do... she could have already told someone at this point anyway. What do you say?" Kakaru asked, as he stopped moving, and stepped aside in a compartment to let people pass.

"And, if it comes down to when everything /is/ my fault, I'll simply nod and accept that fact, but since you've been with me the entire time, it's not like you're any less innocent anyhow, yes?" Kakaru countered, as he twirled his wand in between his fingers, as one does with a pencil.

Atra followed him into the compartment, muttering darkly. "We're Slytherins, all eyes will be on us, anyway. But, fine, if that's what you want to do."

She sniggered, "Oh, guilty by association, I just love that. But, it is the truth, so I'm not going to deny it."

Peeking outside the compartment, she said, "Well then, if we're done here I think I'll go and throw my robes on, and hope I don't run into a teacher along the way. They usually don't move the luggage until the train is empty. See you in the Great Hall, then."

With that, she left to compartment and left to search for her belongings.

He watched her leave, and left to go to the Great Hall himself. It was awkward leaving among all unfamiliar students, particularly the younger ones who weren't sure of where to go at this point. Without hesitation he'd push aside students, knowing they wouldn't fight back.

It was the same solitary path every year, leaving the train, getting in a carriage with unrecognizable faces that was drawn by the proud thestrals, and then departing to the Great Hall. There was more whispering than usual, that was for certain. He had never seen so many glances toward his table, though he couldn't deny how he could be imagining it; with this new confirmed piece of information, he couldn't think straight.

He could catch the words as he passed by the tables, to go sit at the end where few people sat. "Slytherins... He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named... someone died last week...", and of course typical gossip, particularly from Jorkin's end of the Ravenclaw table. It was all simply hodgepodge to him; he had better things to do than eavesdrop. It was taking longer than usual this year to start calling out the first years' names, he wondered if any had gotten lost on the train.

Reflected in one of the compartment door's glasses, Sahara caught a glimpse of Asakawa pointing his wand in their direction. Atra Arduro was there too.

"Immobulus!"

"Look out!" cried Sahara, pushing Angel down just a split second before the jinx flew at them. It hit a window and shattered it.

"Whoa... thanks," panted Angel as she and Sahara stood up and murmuring students looked over at the mess made by Asakawa's jinx. "What was that about?"

"Asakawa," muttered Sahara, "and his girlfriend, Arduro. They were muttering something about us before trying to immobilize you."

"He's gonna get it," said Angel darkly. "Anyway, that's not important right now." She and Sahara pushed past the many students approaching the carriages leading up to Hogwarts. "He and his girlfriend were obviously talking about Voldemort--"

A third-year student walking nearby suddenly tripped over his foot as Angel said Voldemort's name. He looked back at Angel reproachfully and joined a small group of Hufflepuffs walking ahead.

"Coward," giggled Angel. "Anyway, he and his girlfriend were talking about Voldemort. Well, I won't be surprised, the gits they are. They'll be among the pile of Death Eater junk I'll be throwing into Azkaban when I'm finally an Auror, like Mom and Dad. And slimeball Snape, too," she added as an afterthought.

Sahara laughed as they climbed onto a carriage with two chattering sixth-year Gryffindor and Ravenclaw boys.

They rode on, hotly abusing Asakawa, Arduro and Snape until they finally saw it: high towers, mighty turrets and a castle that was home to them both silhouetted against the shining moon, Hogwarts was waiting for them. After a whole two months of being away from it, they were finally back...

Angel and Sahara entered the Great Hall. It was the same, full of chattering students, long House tables laden with golden dinnerware from end to end, and, of course, floating candles among the enchanted ceiling, through which they saw the dark and rainy night skies.

"Well, no point hanging around here," said Sahara. "See you tomorrow."

She walked over to the Ravnclaw table as Angel did so to the Gryffindor table.

Angel saw the Marauders sitting only a few people away, chatting animatedly. She would talk to James about his new tactics tomorrow. There too was Lily, who was, surprisingly enough, looking over at James with great enthusiasm. Beside her was what Angel thought to be a veela but whom she'd never seen before. Shrugging, she sat down.

She scanned her eyes around the Great Hall. First years were already entering along with Professor McGonagall. Some were looking nervous, some apprehensive, but some downright scared.

But that wasn't what caught her attention. As she looked over at the Slytherin table she saw Asakawa, whose dark face suggested murder more than anything.

"Well." Tori said conversationally, as if they were merely discussing weather. "We're here and we forgot to change into our robes Karei. What do you propose we do?"

For Tori was wearing jeans and a black sleeveless top with strange runes on it. Obviously made-up, and obviously made by muggles.

"Go with it." replied Karei. She dragged Tori over to the nearest carriage.

They rode discussing how oddly everyone was behaving. Tori said Voldemort once and the little 2nd year riding with them shrieked. She gazed at them with reproach and fear.

Karei later dragged Tori over to the Ravenclaw table where she scourgified her shirt.

Atra scowled as she sat down a few seats from Kakaru in the Great Hall. The trip from Hogsmeade hadn't been a pleasant one. First, she'd finally found the compartment where she'd stowed her belongings, only to find they had already vanished. She'd been among the last few people to leave the train, and had gotten stuck in a carriage with a group of second-year Gryffindors who were fawning over Black. They kept shooting her dirty looks and whispering loudly behind their hands, as though she couldn't hear them.

The whole ride had reached its peak as they were leaving the carriage. One of the girls had gotten a bloody nose on the train, and some blood was still on her robes. Naturally, one of the thestrals went to lick it. The girl had shrieked like a banshee and accused Atra of trying to curse her. Once they had entered the school, the girl ran off to find the Muggle Studies teacher, who promptly gave Atra detention and a twenty point deduction for both 'cursing the girl' and 'refusing ot abide by school rules and change into her robes'.

Now, she was sitting in her Muggle attire of jeans and a faded out band shirt, glaring at McGonagall, who was taking her sweet time walking to the stool where the first-years would be sorted.

Really, can't she go any faster? Miserable old hag...Why do they make us stay here for the damn Sorting? Who cares where the little twits get put?

Kakaru eyed Atra, and attempted to inconspicuously scoot closer to her, so they could talk during the Sorting, which he hoped would finish soon. "You're still in your Muggle attire," he murmured as his eyes scanned over her jeans and T-shirt. "Did you not find your belongings?" He asked in a hushed tone.

"Slytherin!" He heard the Hat announce as a scrawny sandy haired boy slid off the stool to come join the table. He noticed that the claps were meek sounding, silence compared to the noise when someone was chosen from a different house.

"And from the look on your face, you look as though you just swallowed Doxie eggs, or something like that at least. I presume your ride didn't go so well?" The volume of his voice barely rose, but he heard an abundance of people hushing him regardless. He pulled out his wand and murmured "Muffliato", so they could talk in peace.

"Gee, Kakaru, thanks for telling me I wasn't in my robes, I really hadn't noticed! You can be so observant sometimes, it amazes me. Really, it does."

Atra watched the boy walk down their table, to sit near the few other first years in their House. "Git. He'll be one of the ones who hides from Potter and his friends. Why is it so rare that we get anyone actually worthwhile? It seems that as time goes on, those sorted into our house get meeker, more cowardly. Slytherin used to be a proud house. Now look at us. We're considered the filth of the school."

Shaking her head, Atra sighed and looked at Kakaru. "Sorry for being rude. I'm just sick of being treated like rubbish on account of my being in Slytherin. I've already gotten detention and lost points for supposedly hexing some random girl. Of course, she's led a cheerful life, so she couldn't see that it was a thestral that brushed her, rather than a spell."

Her voice was bitter, and as she looked out across the Great Hall, her gaze was full of loathing. The looks and whispers she had recieved since stepping onto the Hogwarts Express had awoke some dormant part of her, the part that had made her be sorted into Slytherin in the first place. This inner being was full of malice, and reveled in the pain and suffering of others. In other words, it was the spiritual and emotional requirements to be a Death Eater, personified.

"They have no idea, any of them. They just go on with their pathetic little lives, quarreling about Gobstones, unaware of how it feels to be detested for just being. I'd love for them to feel pain, true pain. They deserve it."

Her eyes came to rest on the girl from the train, who was staring at Kakaru. Nodding in her direction, Atra stated, "We still need to take care of her."
