((Thats sad. so we have two opposites. Reina is a half breed and loved by many while Thal has never felt like he belonged anywhere and was never loved?))

((Pretty much. I picked a bad picture for a half-giant. xD))

Reina looked away, hiding her eyes for just a moment, his words were shocking, Lain not a Knight? For as long as she had known, he had been one of the greatest Knights she had known, and he held respect for everyone, as they had for him. She placed her hand on his, rubbing the back of his fingertips with hers and gave a short nod.

"I think, we've all thought that at once, to have no responsibilities, and live under a different rule, of our hearts. But you know what, even though I was forced to be a Knight, I would never turn my back on you guys, nor would I make another decision. I love fighting, protecting my people, being with you guys. Life isn't what we wish it to be, so we must make the best out of it." Reina looked back out towards the camp, Thal seemed like he was awake too, from what she could see anyway. Maybe no one would end up getting any sleep, or, at least they would all be on the look out, so when Ryn awoke, he would be their lookout. "Thank you for sitting here with me, and listen to me ramble on, you're a great listener Lain, and for that, I thank you." She hugged him tight, like she would an older brother, but stalled for a moment, before placing a gentle kiss on his cheek, near the corner of his lips. Her heart raced, even though it was a juvinile and sisterly thing to do, she felt a rush she hadn't before, not even in battle. To hide any uncomfortable feelings, she gave him a cheesy grin, and averted her eyes back to Thal, waving over at him.

His body tensed when he felt her hand caress his gently, and his body flushed when she kissed him regardless of how innocent it had seemed to be. At this moment he wanted nothing more than to kiss her, just once, the way a man kisses a woman he is head over heels for, but of course that couldn't happen.

He turned his gaze to Thal. Lain was previously so occupied in their conversation he'd forgotten they weren't alone in the woods. He caressed the palm of Reina's hand before pulling his away and tucking it behind his head while he laid in the satiny grass.

The cool steal of his Knights wring pressed against the back of his neck pleasantly, a symbol of his commitment, and isolation. "I suppose I wouldn't do things differently. Theres no guarantee I would be the same person I am now if I had taken a different path." He sat up now, pressing his back against the over sized log.

"Thal you've been so quiet, not ease dropping were you?" He plucked a strand of grass from its bed and held it between his thumb and forefinger, giving it a gentle squeeze before releasing it into the wind, and watching it be jostled away down the unmarked trail.

Thalgarik turned his attention to the two. He gave Reina a small wave and looked at Lain. "It's hard not to." He looked down at the ground.

He stood up and turned away. "I can leave you two alone. I don't mind being alone."

Reina laughed lightly, shaking her head and waved her arms around. "No, please don't go, you weren't bothering either of us. She rubbed the back of her neck in nervousness, not sure what to say, but she didn't feel like getting up to leave either. "We like your company, besides, we can make fun of the assasin while he sleeps." Reina's words were a bit slurred, due to her lack of sleep, and she wasn't sure what she was saying made any sense.

She stayed awake a little longer, before her body fell too tired, and she leaned onto the knight, resting her head on his shoulder. "Don't worry, I'm not making a move on you, you're just comfortable, and I am really tired." She took a deep breath, then let it out slowly, shutting both eyes and let her body fall limp against him.

In all honesty, Reina had a huge crush on Lain growing up, he was always the older man who looked after her, who spent time with her when she was lonely. Lain was the reason Reina had not been cold hearted to the world, and made her smile, making the other Knights happier. As she grew older, her feelings for him deepened, but she would never let on, for she felt, if anyone had known, they would easily seek out her weakest spot, her heart, Lain, or the other knights. As she slept there, she could smell his scent, something she was familiar with. It filled her nostrals with the most plesant of parfumes and put her at even more peace.

Val took out his small cup he filled with boiling water and herbs, making a home-made tea, which he sipped out of, closing his eyes and remaining silent. There was no word on whether or not the knights were killed, and as he predicted, many of the men were unsucsessful and killed. If he wanted something done right, he had to do it himself.

The night was growing shorter by each passing minuite, dawn would approach in just a few hours, he could tell this by the changing of colors in the sky. The thin fog was thickening in the woods, just slightly however, it was not an all of a sudden kind of change. His eyes dare not move to the girl, he knew she was around, and that's all he needed to know at the moment. Pressing his lips back to the cup, he took the last sip before setting it down, crossing his legs and arms over his knees, he'd wait a bit before deciding to head on forward.

Judging by the note, there were at least two Knights he would have to run into, and deciding by the chance all the men failed, there were more than the two, whether they were knights, or people associated with them. Valraven had his hands full.

Thalgarik nodded and sat down once again near a tree. He leaned his back against it and looked up at the moon. The moon was big. Why did people like it? The logic of men confused him greatly, but he could not truly blame them. He admired the moon, as well. It was beautiful.

He knew that Reina's words were false. She loved Lain. Thalgarik was merely a comrade. She would most likely want nothing more than to be alone with him. The assassin was simply a way to make him stay and Thalgarik knew that, too.

However, there he still sat. Still alone and still sad.

Lain cradled Reina in his arms gently as she slept, not wanting her to fall over and possibly harm herself. "Thal, honestly, you weren't meddling or anything close to it, we just assumed everyone was asleep and didn't really think about leaving someone out. He made room for him as he repositioned Reina onto his lap. there was nothing perverse about it, it was just more comfortable for him and it would give Thal more room to take a seat, besides, after hearing their conversation he doubted Thal would be surprised.

"You know, I was thinking about the rescue of the queen, how are we going to find her, let alone get through the Bomea gate undetected." He looked over at Thal with a worried look on his face, the only frown he had worn the entire trip so far. "And what do you make of this Ryn fellow? he fought well back at the Inn, and he seemed concerned for Reins safety, but by god he's an assassin, how can we truly trust him?"

Lain leaned back into the tree stump and rested his neck against it. The sky was beautiful and the stars twinkled like a million little eyes, that all seemed focused on Lain at the moment. And then he began to think about the night they had set out on the trip, where was his pet hawk, he hadn't seen him in days.

"Why so quiet?" He asked his comrade. Thal had always been the shy and silent type. Lain didn't understand what half-breeds went through since he was not one, but he had seen the way the children had picked on Reina when she was younger. Lain was a firm believer in equality, and once he retired as a Knight, he was sure he would dedicate his life to that new cause.

Thalgarik looked up, his hair covering most of his face. The moonlight caused his hair to shimmer slightly and a small breeze allowed it to flow. "Assassins are a tricky people. We shall keep an eye on him."

He then shifted a little. "I am quiet because I was taught to be." He removed his top armor and tunic, revealing the many scars, cuts, and gashes that adorned his body. "This... this is the punishment for being a half-breed to the giants. I am unworthy and foul to my people. The humans despise my heritage, as well. I belong to nowhere."

He dressed himself once more and turned slightly. "I suggest that you do not press further. This is my burden and you have more important things to worry about." He pointed towards Reina. "You have something to live for."
