Tiny specks of light filtered in through the trees. Maka finally opened her eyes and yawned. She walked over to Dex. "Your coat." Maka handed it back to Dex. She looked up and saw a piece of the rising sun. OOooh, the little sun's up!!!

Nodding, Dex said ,"Thank you." and put his oat on. He continued to stare at the sky, as he had been for most of the night and all morning. He'd seen a couple of shooting stars that intrigued him- he'd once herd that a shooting star was a symbol that a warrior had finished their fight and won..., Dex wondered if he'd ever have his own shooting star.
He stood and adjusted his coat, then directed a question at Maka as he surveyed the terrain.
"I trust you slept well?"
Dex caught sight of what he'd been scouting for- prey. In one swift movement that went by without even one second's thought- a small fox had an axe lodged in through its skull and was stuck to a tree. Dex walked over to it and removed his axe then took up the limp creature. Once back at the fire, which was beginning to smolder, Dex skinned, gutted, and cleaned the fox. After restoring the fire to its original splendorous form, Dex cooked the fox on a rotating stick lodged in notches atop two branches stuck at either end of the fire pit.

"Yep!!!" Maka said while smiling. She watched her companion kill the fox with great accuracy. "OOooohhh! You're good!" Maka watched Dex for a while, as he skinned the animal and such, but soon she got bored and decided to look around their little "camp".

Dex sighed within himself, slightly guilty for having killed the little creature, but ti was necessary for survival. He nodded at Maka's comment and watched the fox meat cook. After an interval of time, he took the meat off the sticks and threw the meat on a large rock and came down on it with his axe. "I know it's not pie, but this is what we have right now," Dex said as he offered half to Maka.
In a silence, Dex pondered to himself of origins."If you don't mind me asking, how does a Grimm come to be?"

Maka accepted the meat with a "thanks" and sat for a minute to think about Dex's question. Then she smiled. "Heehee nobody's ever asked me that before!!! Hmmmm I wonder... well, sometimes when a person dies, Master takes their soul and gives them a scythe.... yep! And then the person goes and carries out Master's will in thanks for giving the person life again. Kinda like a contract...but I don't know what kind of agreement Master and Life have...hmmmm...well, it's something like that anyway!!!" Maka smiled to herself and took a bite out of the meat. Only after she had nearly finished all of the meat did a question occur to her. "Hey, why do you wanna know?"

Masticating a small bit of meat, Dex thought out his answer. He took a small breath and replied, "I asked for an answer, to cure curiosity.: Dex laughed a little, then spoke again, "No, I asked to know the origins of such a mysterious creature as yourself." Satisfied with his answer, he took another piece of meat into his mouth and chewed.

The Chesire Cat strolled along the forest path, rubbing his paws together with a maniacal laugh. He smiled and barred his fangs. Everything could still go according to plan. The person in front of him seemed to be gullible enough. Maybe I should be a bit less blunt though, just in case... he thought. Or should I even bother? I don't really need this followers, do I? The Chesire Cat's smile broadened. He had a new plan. He stared at Brian. "I know longer have a use for you. I have a better plan now. Tata." The Chesire Cat then dematerialized until all that was left of him was that manic smile. Even that disappeared after a couple of seconds.
Upon seeing the shadowy figure, Alicianna ran away, leaving Jessie behind her. She didn't particularly want to meet up with anyone else. Such an exit couldn't be avoided even if it would leave Jessie inevitably curious. Her life was too important to be risked on the probability of a shadow being friendly. When she saw another shadow up ahead, she almost ran the other way until she recognized the hulking shape.
"My Queen!" Ben called. How glad he was to finally find her again, alive and well. Plenty of people were after her life, seeing her as a cruel queen when in fact she was only trying to prevent the Chesire Cat from taking power. He was the only person who knew this, he was sure of it. She hadn't told him directly, but had dropped many hints. She would stay in power long enough to make sure that the Chesire Cat could never get the throne and would then give up the position to one much more qualified.
"Ben!" Alicianna ran up to the werewolf. "I can't tell you how happy I am to see you and not Chesire... Do you think he planned the assassination?"
"What? You think he did? I'll kill him if that's so... I rip his throat out."
"Not right now, Ben," chided Alicianna. She knew that the Chesire Cat would already have another plan concocted, a way to get to her coveted throne while she was out here in the woods. She needed to get back as fast as possible, with Ben and his squad at her side.

After Maka finished eating, she thought she heard something from the trees behind her. OOOOooooooh!!!! What's that sou~nd? Maka suddenly got up and jumped on her scythe. She kept speeding through the woods until she heard voices. Then, Maka being Maka, decided it would be a lovely idea to climb a tree and see who the people were. So, Maka scrambled up the nearest tree and positioned herself on one of the lower branches. She could just barely see what was happening. There were two people, a girl and some guy. The guy looked sort of familiar. I know I've seen that guy somewhere...Hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm, mmmmnnnnnnnn, ummmmmmmmm.... Maka was trying very hard to remember. Mmmmmmmm...OH!!!! It's dog boy!!!!!!! Just then, Maka's branch gave way, and she fell to the ground with a loud "thump". "OOoooooooooh, that hu~rt!!!!!"
