Charlie was about to question Lizzies logic but then Hobknocker declared HIM the winner. Surprised couldnt even begin the reaction the young pink haired demon gave at this announcement.

"..T-The card really is the winner?" This confused Charlie quite a bit. While the demon was not a reader he could preform math pretty well. So Charlie was aware that 1 was not the highest number. He looked up at Lizzy with a pleading confused look.

"I'm not totally sure how to explain this," She frowned slightly at Charlie, pointing at his card, "But in blackjack terms, an ace can be a 1 or an 11... Since we're looking at the single value here, 11 is the largest number in the deck, above king, queen and jack that are valued at 10." Honestly, she wasn't sure how it works either, but if they follow the rules of blackjack, that should be it, right?

She shot all the nearby students a curious look, wondering if they knew more.

Charlie gave the card a curious look. Then he licked it and stuck it on his forhead. The card stuck perfect to the pink haired demons forehead much to Charlies amusement.

"Check it out Lizzy! I'm fancy!" He put his hands on his hips and puffed his chest out pretty damn proud of his discovery. Licking a card made it stick to your forhead. Genius.

"In my game, an Ace is a tricky b*****d, much like pirates," Hobknocker interjected, hobbling over to where he had left the mop and pail. Though he had only caught the tail end of the conversation, it was enough to get the gist of it. "It masquerades as a nobody, a nothing card. Your friend is right in that it usually stands for a one or an eleven, but that's Blackjack. In actuality, the card itself boasts no number. Instead there's a letter. In my game, the A stands for Assassin and when you least expect it, it comes out to make its move. Even a King may fall victim to its sharp blade. The odds of two Assassins being found in one game -- especially a small game like this -- raised alarms, I admit. However, it's apparent in your ignorance of the game, that you had not cheated. Fortune was smiling upon you but don't let it get to your head. Fortune is a backstabbing wench if I ever knew one."

"... Very fancy," Lizzy giggled with a nod, holding up her phone and switching it to camera mode as she aimed it at Charlie-with-an-ace-on-his-forehead, "Now, look here and say icky! We can show Mac and Amrita your fancy when we meet up with them later~" She was sure they would be amused too.

"Oh, and Mac say if you sink the boat, you will never get his jacket," She added with a serious expression - can never be too safe.

Charlie listened to what Hobknocker had to say with very open ears. Usually he wasn't the greatest at paying attention but here was talk of his card being an assassin !! Charlie literally gasped and covered his mouth with his hands at the realization that his card was an utter bad a**.

"That means.. My card has killed other cards. " Slowly a wicked smile unraveled on the demons face. He was so shocked and so amused by this that he didn't have time to say icky for the picture Lizzy was taking of him to send to Mac and Lizzy.

Mac saying if he sunk the boat and then he'd never get to wear his jacket made Charlie frown.

"Hmph, how rude. He knows I would be best to wear that jacket," Charlie crossed his arms and pouted some.

"Uh...thanks." He said to the Hobknocker. He hadn't seemed too happy about their winning. He did have a point, two aces did seem like high odds, but that was the thing about odds that Draven liked. There was always a chance.

Draven shrugged when Lizzy looked around for help with the explanation. She'd said pretty much what he knew. Besides, Charlie didn't seem too concerned with the actual explanation, as he clearly moved on to other things. Draven had noticed the demon boil seemed to be happy much of the time, if a bit distracted.

The Hobknocker's take on the Ace was new to Draven, but rather amusing. "Huh, A for Assassin," he mused, waving another stray pillow feather away. He would have to remember that.

Tess' text
OMJ LIZZY! So good to hear from you! That's such a pretty fish! <333 Are you sure I'm in it? >.> I made a complete IDIOT of myself and I am never going near Christof EVER AGAIN ;____________; I wish you and Amrita were here. Calder hasn't tried anything, has he?!

She took the photo anyway as Charlie was busy with listening to the ToTer's explanation, saving the photo in her phone; it was cuter candid anyway! Her phone started to vibrate straight after, however, and she smiled as the 'new message' icon appeared on the screen. Quickly, she read it, feeling relieved at the fact that Tess was alright - well, as alright as one could be on a boat heading to who knows where.

Lizzy's Text to Tess
Thank you! Yes! I'm very sure - I cut off the tail of the fish, see? I wanted to tie a nice red ribbon around it too, but didn't have time to. )8 Awww, what happened? Did Christof do something bad to you? I wish I am there with you too! D: <33 Nope! Calder's been really nice actually!

Her reply sent, she turned her attention back to Charlie, raising an eye brow at his pouting; she can't imagine Charlie wearing Mac's jacket and pulling it off. Then again, it might just be her... Pocketing her phone, she shook her head, "I'm not too sure about that but uh, if we stay afloat and reach our destination in one piece, you can get that jacket and we shall see, yes?"

exclaim EVENT:

Event!
A giant squid attacks the ship!

It would have been an overstatement to say that Cricket had been upset by the mess made under the dock while she'd been navigating the fog. Or rather, making sure they didn't crash into an iceburg of some sort. That would have been highly unpleasant and probably bring some humor to her least-favorite-ice-demon. The fact he was on a 'favorites' list at all was significant, however.

There had been very few pillows 'exploding' however, so it made for a much easier time when Cricket came below deck, surveyed the mess, and then said;

"Clean it up."

Though she hadn't taken away all of the pillows, in the long run, so at least sleeping became easier. During the cleanup there were some centipedes found, though Seiji and Calder both found some other curious things...curious things that could have possibly been moving. However, they stashed away quietly and Cricket never seemed to mind them having said objects. (** MK and Beejoux have each been sent a minipet :O )

----

The fog had been pleasant once it died down enough to travel through without issue. Cricket had looked over the ocean in front of them without much of a care, though she did stroke her hand over the boat...as if she was doing something to it by making contact with the thing. Perhaps she'd been telling the truth when she said the boat wouldn't sink.

The reinforcement gained of this statement wouldn't be pleasant for the students, however.

It had come in the night, even with Cricket standing on the deck of the ship. While the students were sleeping, or something resembling attempting to, the ship suddenly lurched forward, sending everything towards the front of the ship... and sending Elaphe up the stairs towards the deck.

Upon going up top to see what was going on, the tiny-but-mighty student was completely gone...and Cricket was standing on deck of the ship with a rather large tentacle that had been chewed off by something with a lot of teeth. The nurse was making a slight face.

"Seems I grabbed the wrong tentacle." she said stiffly, placing a hand on the object and releasing a large infestation of glowing creatures out upon the thing, the creatures making quick work of the tentacle while the nurse continued, walking to the very edge of the dock and looking over the side of it.

"Fortunately the student we've lost to the mitts of our foe can breathe underwater so he's not at risk of drowning. However, there is a chance he may get eaten as well." she seemed to mull over this thought before turning to her 'crew', a devious look on her face. It looked really out of place on her face, given how often she was impassive about anything.

She was practically silent as she moved below deck, returning with...
.....

good god those things looked like they could poke everybody's eyes out! The nurse had apparently been storing very sharp objects under the ship, as she handed a harpoon to each student still on the deck of the ship, a length of rope attached to each. Holding one herself, the nurse stood up on the railing of the deck to look down at the water.

"It would take a much bigger creature than that to take this ship underwater." she said, holding the rope in one hand and holding up the harpoon offensively in the other hand.

"Help me pin it to the ship so I can get your classmate from it."

Harpooning the Squid!
  • There are 19 tentacles on this squid because Cricket took one off of it! However, the students only need to get five of the tentacles stuck to the boat, minimum, for it to hold still for their captain.
  • Roll two 20-sided dice. If you get a total of 10, 20, or 30, a tentacle came up close enough to be stabbed and trapped to the boat! Note that, ICly, this will make the boat thrash a bit.
  • If you get a 40, the tentacle holding Elaphe came up! You will need to post again rolling another two 20-sided dice. Getting either 20 or 40 will allow you to drag him on board!
  • You only have one harpoon. If you pin a tentacle to the ship, that's it. You can, however, help out other people ICly with helping them keep their balance or what-have-you. We don't need to save anybody else from the tentacles! D:
  • ELAPHE- Roll a 100-sided-dice. If you get above 90, you wiggle out of the tentacle's grasp! However, you'll still need someone's help to get back on the ship. If you are wiggled free and someone rolls a 40, there will be no need to roll again to get you back on ship.

She had secretly kept a pillow from the pillow fight; having something other than moist, rotting wood to lay her head on for even a night was great. So great that she slept like a log through the night, using a jacket as a blanket to cover her upper body and keep heat in. Apart from the pillow, being worn out from the excitement of the pillow fight and having to clean up the feathers that was a result of the pillow fight also contributed to her sound sleep... That was, until she was thrown forward, almost hitting her head against the wall.

"Ugh..." She groaned, sitting up and quickly flipping her dress back down to cover her thighs as she sat up, rubbing her eyes; climbing up, she dragged herself onto the deck, bare-footed as she slipped into the jacket that had been covering her earlier. If the sudden lurch forward didn't wake her, the sight of the giant tentacle on the deck sure did. She stared at it for a whole 5 seconds before realizing that no, she was not dreaming.

"E-eaten?!" While glad and reassured that the Nurse appeared calm in the face of adversity, Lizzy couldn't help but flail internally as she grabbed a harpoon after muttering a soft 'thank you'. Then, wordlessly, she quickly made her way to the edge of the ship, looking into the water with a frown. She watched the water with bated breath, hoping and praying that the student who had been thrown overboard would make it back in one piece...

... Sadly, the tentacle never surfaced close enough for her to hit it.

It wasn't hard for him to sleep, but he did like laying down this time around aside from standing up. What few pillows were left were collected, but Calder only needed one. With his lumpy pillow, he found a nice spot on the floor that would break under him, curled up, and fell asleep. The rocking of the waves, which usually made others sick, was comforting to him, and the mingling smells made him think of home. It was when things really started to rock that his ear twitched and then he woke when he found himself rolling – Just when he was going to kiss the boil of his dreams too! Dream interrupted, he rose up and rubbed his eye, before getting up with the other groggy students and making his way up to the deck.

What he saw made him c**k his head in Jove fashion just out of confusion. It was a tentacle. A big one, and he had horrible images of Riley 10 times her size. EEEEWWWW!

Frowning, he came over just as Cricket pretty much said that someone fell off the ship. Looking about, Calder tried to recall who was all here and remembered he boil with the fish-puke pants. So……..that meant he was off the ship, and Calder wasn't the one to do it…so that was okay. Right? Calder saw him swim.

The big tentacles were what made this situation bad, and Cricket left them to stare as the rest of the tentacle was destroyed. Note: Never piss off Cricket else all evidence that you existed could be destroyed. He didn't think he wanted to be disposed of in that way.

Returnign shortly, she handed them all REALLY BIG GUNS with points on them. Never in his life had he held a harpoon. He saw one. A much small, more rustic one, but this thing made all previous ones he saw look like little dart guns. He held it awkwardly and looked at Cricket with wide eyes. What was he supposed to do with this?!!! (And also, where was this when he had to go fishing a few days ago?!!)

The run down was simple. Elaphe was off the ship. One of Riley's uglier cousins were attacking them. So, he had to shoot the thing that vagely made him think of Riley.

Calder grinned. HE GRINNED WIDE!

It wasn't hard to image what he was thinking when imagining the squid, and he went over, eager to shoot. He was starting to like this boat ride now.

Aiming, he shot out.

Drats! The harpoon just splashed in the rolling waves. He had wanted to HIT a tentacle. Stab it! Pin it to the ship and teach that monster who was BOSS. Bringing back his spear, he tried to work with clipping the thing back in place and pulling back the line to get it to click. This was rather difficult when the entire ship was rocking back and forth. Wet floor. Hooves on deck. Did not really help with keeping your balance much and he flopped on his butt once and.. "AH!" The harpoon flew out and luckily headed OFF the ship. He rose up and looked to see where it went.

Staring into the water like this was sort of unnerving, like a tentacle could come up and drag her into a watery grave at any moment.. Trying her best not to think about it too much, she continued to watch for movement. Seeing something on her left, she almost released the harpoon, only to realize that it was merely a trick of the light. Her grip on the harpoon tightened as she frowned; this might take longer than she had expected...

With the rowdy pillow fight still fresh in his mind, Jove had been in good spirits since. But that night he had been sound asleep on the hard floor with only one pillow, the fluffy one he had managed to save from the cleaning. He didn't so much use it like any normal student, instead of simply resting his head on it, the pup was curled up around it, mostly on it, ears and tail occasionally twitching as he dreamed of doggy things.

It had been a literal rude awakening, finding himself jolted out of sleep as his little body skidded across the pitted floor. Something was wrong with the boat. His eyes were wide and glowing in the dark hold as he blinked to try and get his bearings, fixing on the faint light from the stairs. Without waiting for Seiji or Alessa, or anyone else who might have wanted to protect him, the wisp stashed his pillow under those stairs and ran up onto the deck.

Where he was promptly handed a harpoon.

The weight of the thing was almost enough for him to drop it on the spot, and once he saw the giant purple tentacles flailing around the ship he did just that. So the doom Yaya had spoke of had finally arrived for their ship... The pup whined slightly before picking up the harpoon, and seeing Lizzy and Calder bravely attacking the creature he puffed up his chest in his most brave-looking manner and tried to give the squid a good stabbing.

She smiled as Jove joined her and Calder, moving towards the younger boil in a subconscious effort to keep him from being pulled into the water by the attacker, although she was sure Calder would be better at saving him if it really happens. Still, it was nice to see everyone working together, even if it was due to a crisis and there was a student's life on the line.

Her attention quickly returned to the water as she readied her harpoon, knowing that a tentacle could drift close to the boat at any one moment...
