Herryk snorted and stretched, both wary and taken aback by the genuine smile that he was graced with.
"We should probably go see what the course is about, then," he grunted, clasping his hands atop his head as he watched her, jerking his chin in the direction of the course. He wasn't entirely sure what it entailed, and he was starting to feel the slightest bit of apprehension creep over him.
"Ladybirds first," he grunted, waiting for her to lead the way.

Mitsu seemed torn. She looked at Shun and then at Xiu before turning toward the course in question. Should she give it a try? Surely nothing bad could happen to her right? Xiu had come back in one piece and so had Shun. Most of the others who had failed seemed to mostly be just wet. Mitsu could swim so getting wet was fine.
A response was on the tip of her tongue before Mitsu was distracted by Hel's voice not far off yelling out the word Sister before pouncing the other valkyrie. OH, that must have been one of the...many sisters Hel had told her about. Was her family coming to Amityville?
She wanted to say hello but Mitsu's gaze soon went back to the course. Maybe it would be best for her to try before she lost her nerve. "I...I guess I'll give it a shot. Wish me luck?" Mitsu asked quietly before she slowly made her way toward the course.

"NOT LADY-"
The sound of her sister screaming at her made her stop in mid-tirade, and she grinned like a wildcat, holding her hands out for the inevitable attack. Sure enough, Hel had flung into her arms, and she collected her sister up and hugged her close.
Well, that had lasted all of an hour! No surprises were to be had after all.
"Aiya, my little crumpet! It's me, yeh. Come on, you. We will have all the times in the world to catch up, but right now your sister has to BEATS THE PANTS- ehh, loincloth- off this big mouth baby who thinks he's better than me! What a laugh!" She walked off with her sister in one arm, barely looking back.

Hel wrapped her arms tightly in return around her older sister, not at all caring that she was still soaked from falling into the pool from Terror Warrior.
She had forgotten how nice this was. To be hugged by her older sister once more. She had…missed it.
The ghoul looked up at her, eyes wide still. “Ah, but sister! You must tell me what’s going on! You hadn’t responded to any of my letters for a good long while!” She scowled. She wouldn’t say out loud that she was worried, but Freya was usually so good at writing back rather quickly, when she started going through a period of time without any letters…it was disconcerting! She allowed Freya to lead her off, sticking rather close to the older ghoul’s side as she looked up at with, now with wide eyed excitement and curiosity.
“What are you doing here, Freya? What brings you all the way here? I told you when I left that I’d return home when the year ended for break!”

Freya stopped in mid-stride, looking down at Hel with wide, shocked eyes.
"Not responds to you? NOT RESPONDS TO YOU? What do you thinks this is, crumpet! I responds to your letters with so much worry that I enrolled in the schools so fast I didn't even have time to write back! I was on the trains before long and now I go to your schools now! I start class on Moonday. Aren't you excited? Now I'll be arounds ALL THE TIME!"
Freya certainly thought this was exciting news. She grinned maniacally as she returned to bouncing Hel in her arms while she walked to the course.

“Yes, not a single response!” Hel replied. “Not a single letter since I arrived at the Academy!” Here she paused, and her own gaze went wide once more. “You…are a student here, too?” She echoed. She was stunned! The thought honestly did not cross her mind that Freya would look to enroll in the Academy as well, and at this moment in time, she was so surprised, she wasn’t sure what to feel.
The ghoul was shaken out of her stupor as Freya bounced her within her arms, and soon enough a grin appeared on her face as well. “Dear Sally…that is….” She gave a small shake of her head, unable to find the appropriate word to describe how she felt. “I never would have dreamed that you’d be here at the Academy with me!” Hel laughed. “Tell me, sister, were your ears ringing, I spoke of you often…” Here Hel continued to chatter as she followed her sister to the course.

Freya reached up and stuck a finger in her ear, rubbing it hard. "Nou, didn't hear any ringings, but nice to knows you didn't forget me." She gave her sister an affectionate snug, and then put her down before entering the obstacle course.
"Wish me luck?"

“Psshaw!” Hel gave a dismissive wave of her hand. “I’d never forget you, sister!” She snorted, as if the thought of such a notion was possible (and it wasn’t).
“Ah, but we are proud valkyries, we don’t need luck!” Hel chimed, though admittedly she couldn’t help but be anxious as Freya started the Terror Warrior challenge…and then failed the first course, and then failed it again. She was starting to become even more anxious when she managed to get through the first and second stand, and when it looked like she was about to conquer it…she fell into the pool for the third, and final time. Okay…Hel was feeling pretty good about herself at the moment. It certainly brightened her day to see her older sister have trouble…but she wasn’t about to go and say that loud.
As they made their way back to the concession stand, the younger ghoul reached out, patting Freya’s shoulder affectionately. “No worries, sister! I am sure you’re just worn from traveling, that’s all.”

Freya looked madder than an enraged bull, but she definitely wasn't crying. Herryk wouldn't have to worry about her breaking their deal - it wasn't how she handled failure.
"Uff." She grunted, patting her sister's hand on her shoulder as she shook some of the dampness off her. She was soaking wet, and her wings felt as heavy as lead. She did have a change of clothes available, since she had her trunk with her.. but that seemed like too much of a hassle. Besides..
"You're right. I'm just tired. I'll takes a rest, and try again in a bit. No obstacles course is going to keep the Brynhildrs down!" She tried to grin, but her hair plastered onto her face and kept her from managing it fully. She brushed the bangs out of her eyes and laughed.

“None what so ever!” Hel heartily agreed, laughing along with her sister loudly. She had missed this too!
“We shall let the stage gather its wits, and then move back in for the strike!” The reaper pumped a fist enthusiastically into the air, grinning now. She was left to wonder though how the next attempt would fair…and if she’d do better now with her sister here watching. It seemed only time would tell…

.. Wits?
The obstacle course had.. wits?
WAS THAT WHY IT HAD OUTWITTED HER??
Suddenly, her plans had changed. She picked up her sister, flung her over her shoulder, and carried her back to the course.
"No, crumpet! We can't lets it gather its wits back! We has to strikes now, while it is still reeling from our initial blows! NOW! WE STRIKE!"
And she carried Hel back to the course.

Hel was rather surprised to be picked up and hoisted over a shoulder. While this kind of action wasn’t uncommon back at home, for the past few months she was usually the one doing the carrying, so to suddenly be carried off…it was a reminder! The reaper laughed as she was carried off, and hoped she’d succeed this time.
Spoilers: She didn’t.
The ghoul stomped back to the concession stand, freshly soaked from falling into the pool, and paused, starting the process of wringing out her braids and apron again. She could only wonder if Freya would hassle her about…not conquering this round. She’d find out soon enough.

"AIYA. YA. YYYYYYYA." Freya jogged back to the concession stand, but every so often she would stop, crouch down, and punch the floor in victory. It wasn't a very ladylike thing to do, but it happened nonetheless. When she returned to her sister's side, she bent down and smacked a wet kiss right on the ghoul's cheek.
"Yeh softened it up for me, now it feels the mights of the Brunhildrs! Next, yeh will shows it that we are relentless, ja? But first, we feast." She hadn't forgotten that the concession stand attendant had offered her a snack, and she was ravenous. She hadn't eaten in.. oh.. like an hour. There was some beef jerky in her bag, but..
Free food.
"Freya the Mighty requests nourishment!" She announced to the stand. "And a handkerchief for the baby boil so thats he has a place to cry in!"

AHM EATS GLUTTONY FOR BREAKFAST Shrouded in layers that covered everything but his glowing green eyes - and sometimes his very large smile - the elder Grue made his way over to where attractive FEARleaders 'manned' a concession stand bursting with delicious scents - not all of them food related. And even better, there was contest that had his name all over it. And Nahm's too, of course. With a flourish and a low chuckle, Ahm put his name on the sign up sheet. Better late than never. Ahm found that he tended to lag behind his younger sibling when it came to the various 'entertainments' available on campus. Usually because he was tormenting someone, devouring some thing or otherwise causing trouble (or making money by eating people's homework...that sort of thing. His eyes picked out something of interest as he turned away from the sheet: hot ghoul with nice rack being excited about other hot ghoul....oh yes, this was definitely somewhere he wanted to be! FEARleaders and food and such delightful distractions! He liked the concession stand!

Shehk definitely didn't regret manning the concession booth. She'd done well enough in her own attempt at the Terror Warrior (how was her score on it compared to the leaderboard now, she wondered), and now she was getting all sorts of free entertainment out of Valkyries and undead men who easily towered over her.
Alas.
"Ya'll are very amusing." Shehk said, having manned Freya's stuff and its well being while the Valkyrie had been trying to rub Herryk's nose in the course. The water. The whatever. It had all been good fun to watch, if nothing else. "Well, you were one of our fierce competitors, viteaz~ Clearly that in and of itself deserves a reward." Shehk said to Freya, before pondering what sort of thing one would give to a Reaper as a 'treat'.
Shehk knew what she considered a treat, but...yeah.
"Name your prize, viteaz and you shall have it~" she paused, "As long as it's food based and I can get it for you. I'm not doing any raiding-gardens-for-golden-apples. I've had enough of Golden Apples."
