"I-I know," Kaleb stuttered, fidgeting and not quite meeting Riley's eyes. "A-and I still feel bad for waking you up in the middle of the night and everything..."

"I-I thought you were," Kaleb said, sounding surprised. "Y-you couldn't sleep either?" He didn't quite want to believe Riley couldn't sleep because he wasn't there, it was probably just wishful thinking.

Kaleb was glad Riley wasn't looking back at him, otherwise his blushing would have been impossible to miss. "I-I'm sorry..."

"I-I'm sorry I left," Kaleb said, hopping forward to hug one of Riley's arms. He still remembered how awful it had felt, and he regretted leaving and making his partner feel that way too.

"Well it's not like ya live with me so ya had to leave eventually." He just shouldn't have gotten used to Kaleb sleeping with him.

"I-I know, but I'm still sorry," Kaleb said, letting go of Riley once they got to his car. He was pretty good at healing physical ailments, but he couldn't do a thing about emotional upsets.

"S-sorry," Kaleb said, and then blushed brightly and bit down on a thumbnail as he slipped into the passenger's seat. He really hadn't meant to apologize again, it just... happened.

Kaleb relaxed a bit when Riley laughed, since it meant he wasn't angry, but he didn't really feel comfortable with the conversation topic. He had been a confident child at one point in his life, but that single failure when it came to blood had turned him nervous and hesitant. "I-it's been around awhile," he said in a quiet voice.
