"Last of the Mohicans"
Good movie *nods* What happened that irked the continuity fair exactly?

This is what I don't understand. Why do straight girls obsess over such overly feminine guys? Why don't you all just become lesbians? rolleyes

Lesbians don't have dicks.

She's just said the short explanation. biggrin The sociology major in me can't help but explain this, so sorry guys.

I don't see what the problem is to liking men that are thin and such. That doesn't make them "feminine," and a big old beard on a sweaty, muscley guy doesn't make him "masculine." Those are social constructs. There are men in a tribe in Africa that wears makeup(not the women at all) and thinks the practice is very masculine. Infact, in the animal kingdom, the woman doing all those bodily modifications to attract a mate goes against just about every animal display; the male typically is the one with the burden of attracting a mate.

Long hair is a sign of health, so it is generally considered attractive. What's odd then with me thinking guys with a long, healthy mane of hair is hot? It makes sense on a evolutionary level for me to seek that out. And eyeliner and mascara and such bring out the eyes of a person, male or female; should I not think that a person's eyes are attractive? Just because we like men with what this society has deemed "feminine" qualities, how does this translate to us liking v****a? I personally like seeing those "feminine" qualities on a man. Heck, I even think breasts can be pretty hot. But v****a? Blech.

Let me put it this way: if we were to do this, the only thing that would accomplish is flooding the gay scene with confused young women who would be unwilling to "go all the way." Sure, you've got long hair and all that, and they may make out and may even go a little further. But v****a? If they liked it already, I think they would have figured it out in their own way instead of being told that liking long hair and make-up=liking v****a. We have different standards of beauty, not an enjoyment of different body parts. Huge difference there. While make-up and long hair are social constructs, enjoying one body part over another certainly isn't. If it was, then with the centuries of homophobia, we'd have no homosexuals. Your statement assumes that straight women can change the body part of choice. By the logic of your question, I could flip it around and just as easily say, "Why don't you stop being a silly lesbian and start drooling over feminine guys? No silly homophobia to deal with!"

I should have known better than try to make a joke around you guys. razz

I don't think I will ever see your side(about dicks being nice), but for the record I wasn't serious about changing your sexuality. I thought it was pretty obvious that I was kidding.

Also, I think the continuity error she's referring to is Brigitta's mention of "Ringu." Edit: Nevermind, that was first published in 1991...

I knew it was, but, apparently some people took it, REALLY seriously... THough I did want to explain my own take on feminine looking guys and the whole movie issue *shrugs* At least we now have some interesting evidence for people who start saying homosexuality is a choice..

Lol, I think it's because we chat all the time, you can tell when I'm joking and when I'm not. When reading text, it's hard to tell if someone is being serious!

Sorry I went all Sociology on ya(I'm a geek, I tell ya). I had an inkling you were joking, but it wasn't preceded or followed by anything humorous and the rolling eyes threw me off. I decided to let the geek in me loose just in case. biggrin

The book was published in 1991; the movies came out years later.

And yes, it was the reference to the Ring movie.

>.< That movie was so unfair! gonk Pulling the rug from underneath you like that! scream

I swore never to watch a horror movie after that *scarred for life*. It's my own fault, though. I was young, I was stupid, I totally assumed that since it was Japanese it couldn't be all that scary. xp

Despite my hating it for scaring the crap outta me, it's still very good at what it does.
