Ray nodded, kissing Desiree lightly atop the head. "No worries. They do that to everyone, I think. They're not very good at dealing with people that aren't criminals."

Desiree sighed, holding his hand as tightly as she oculd without doing bodily harm. "Guess it's good we waited. I would not have wanted to be here all night."

"There's no telling whether or not we spend tonight here," answered Ray gloomily, and a little crossly. A wizard nearby glared at them, and this seemed to give Ray enormous satisfaction.

Wormtail shifted anxiously from foot to foot. "Master...is it time for McGonagall yet? Surely it must be time, sir."

"Soon..." Draco flexed his fingers as he skimmed through the ancient book he was reading. "I can't find anything painful enough for her yet."

Draco blinked, looking up from the pages of the book momentarily. "That's not a bad idea at all..." He shut the book and gave Wormtail a malicious grin. "Go get her."

Wormtail smiled, thrilled that he was of use, and he returned promptly, dragging McGonagall behind him. She wasn't resisting, precisely, but she made absolutely no effort to make things easier for Wormtail.

"And you a phlegmatic humbug," answered McGonagall evenly, pretending to take no notice of Wormtail, who had tightened his grip on the old women. "Still under the impression that killing people shows strength, Draco? I see my lecture last night did you no good."

"That would be correct." Draco grinned sarcastically at her. "I never learned much of anything from your little sermons, nor did any else." His lip curled up as he glared at her.
