Light-of-Essence

PostPosted: Fri Jun 20, 2008 7:26 pm

My interpretation of God is that He is made completely out of energy (or light if you prefer). I say this only because I've never assimilated an image of Him in my mind. He is in everyone and everything in the most natural way. God is in smiles, kind deeds, tears from the hopeless, the sound of the wind through the leaves of trees, the rain, the smell of flowers-- things like that. In prayer I've heard His voice--even if it were only for a couple of seconds. God is a father and a friend. This is strictly my interpretation and I know it may no be exactly what my religion says. I guess this is just easier for me to accept because it's what I have encountered.

I think any God worth his/her/its stuff would not medal in the affairs of humans. I personally do not like the concept of an ever present God who acts as the ultimate moral authority because I do not believe there is nor should be such an absolute authority on what is right/wrong.

I'd like my God as an architect: One who builds what needs building, then walks away and lets someone else move in.

Every man is condemned to freedom.

My idea of God is not the dear loving father that many seem to push on to people. I don't see much of a difference between God and Devil at this point in my life. Both promise paradise, and both offer pain, loss, and mental anguish. I visually see God as a king on his throne forcing us (yes I know we have a choice yet the outcome is the same) to bow down and worship him, if we don't, we get sent off to Hell. If we do, we get to spend eternity worshipping and singing praise unto the creator (doesn't that sound like fun??!! confused ). I don't find his proposition very loving. *Disclaimer* I do not mean to offend.

Well I don't think your versions of pain, loss, and mental anguish are the same as those God would probably offer up. Nor do I think you have an acurate grasp of what this paradise actually is (but then again who can blame you, most religions don't have any idea either.)

And the paradise offered by the Devil is pretty much exactly the same as you describe, if the devil really even exists. But rather then it being a city of gold where man knows no suffering, it's eternal damnation and burning in everlasting flames and darkness WHILE praising the devil....not sure about you but in a choice between the two (if in fact choosing either or are the ONLY options) then I'd choose a city of Gold over fire and darkness reguardless. *laughs*

LOL!! Yeah the city of gold does sound much more pleasant compared to burning in a lake of fire. I was just saying that when comparing the two offers; With God you live a hard life while your alive than spend an eternity kissing his feet (in a city of gold if you want wink ). With the Devil (with my meaning; not obeying laws, living outside of the rules, defying morals, living life without spending any time praising God, not paying taxes and stealing gas) you can live quite happily as long as you can avoid the cops (the mafia families seem to live happily enough) (I'm not promoting this I am a police officer myself.) However you live in an internity in a very uncomfortable place, to put it mildly. The comparison is: you suffer in both lives with God, yet may only suffer one life with the Devil. This is probably not very accurate to say the least, yet that is my first take on it without diving into the matter with complete seriousness lol.

and stealing gas

Thats my favorite part of what you just said. It really made me laugh that you consider all those other things on the same level as stealing gas! lol

In any case, in a slight bit of seriousness.......do you honestly....and lets be frank.....do you honestly think that a life bred by all those things you described is comfortable and doesn't ultimately end in suffering of a worse degree then making an attempt to do the right thing?

Seriously....if you're a police officer then you certainly must have seen what those things do to people. It's destruction on par with Sodom and Gamora.....complete personal obliteration.

By comparison I'd say a person "suffering" as you say, with a heavy heart and sadness is HEAVEN compared to the life those detrimental acts lead too.

Lol! Yeah I was basically just having fun with that post.

Suffering in two lives with God and then Suffering only in one with the Devil wouldn't really be that great of a deal.

I guess I would rather kiss the Lord's feet than burn in Hell, I've burnt myself while attempting to cook and it didn't feel all that great, so I can only imagine to feel that all over my body for an eternity. Besides....there may be a great shopping mall in Heaven, and fantasic internet service, and I bet no body gets food poisoning from restaraunts there either. Maybe even the gas prices are affordable.

No I'm not being serious...but it would be nice wouldn't it?

I would imagine heaven being more like you wouldn't need internet service as things happen at quantum speeds and you will probably exist outside of time so "faster" most probably doesn't exist as there is only a "now".

Shopping malls might be nice but as an ethereal being we'll have to come up with some sort of quantum clothing that exists without the worlds other 7 dimensions and I don't know that I'm up to that task.

As for food poisoning, I'm fairly sure you'll need a stomache to get poisoned from food so we should be in the clear there.
