BaNaNa_blend you like it because its pretty, I liked chars custom because at the time it was lightning fast.
Pretty much anything Char decides to pilot, that is a completed MS anyway, is lightning fast. That's his whole...thing..
Still, there are a lot of Char's units I just couldn't stand. It's Char himself that makes a unit "cool" if we're talking UC.. lol
As far as the Deathscythe goes, think of the whole montage. It's a big, black, angel of death/ grim reaper mecha. Why WOULDN'T someone find that cool? I know I have to admit that as much as I hate Wing as a series, the Deathscythe was one of the high points for me. Especially the Deathscythe Custom.
And really, looking at it now, with a lot more knowledge of other AU, the Deathscythe Custom looked a lot like the one Crossbone Gundam, with the shroud and everything.
Ultimately, it's personal preference that makes ANYTHING 'cool'... So I mean, it's sort of a silly topic to discuss anyway.

I'd think it's pretty simple to guess why people like Deathscythe. It appeals to them in some way. Much like the topic creator likes Char's Zaku II for his own reasons (be it the salmon coloring, the fact that it's Char's own Zaku or the fact that it goes fast), others happen to like the Deathscythe for theirs. There were a lot of people who liked the Deathscythe, though, so I'm also willing to bet it's a combination of that and the fact that much of the online American fanbase loved the pilot, Duo Maxwell, at the same time.
Liking Deathscythe, for me, is a combination of all of those things. However, it's far from my favorite design these days. That probably goes either to the G-Saviour family of designs, the F91 or the Destiny Gundam... for now.
