Shifting his paws against the cold earth the young prince sat down and gazed out at the lands before him. It was nighttime now and all he could think of was how good he felt just a few hours earlier. He made found someone to call family, finally. True, he had sisters and half siblings… but now he had someone to call all his own.

This made his chest swell with pride. The scars upon his body wrinkled as he sighed and turned, moving his view to his paws.

No matter how good he felt right now he knew that his feeling of sorrow would return soon. He would always miss his mother.

This pride made him think of her, everyday, every night.

The nighttime was his time with her. They always went firefly hunting.

It was bittersweet, this feeling.

Her fur shone brightly under what little light there was under star and under moon, as the pale cub Nurisha explored while her friend slept. Having spent all her life within the Kusini lands, it was interesting to wander around outside them, where things were quite a bit different. Not drastically so…but for one thing, there were no adults about to tell her to go to the den and go to sleep! Besides, everything was changed at night. More mysterious, more otherworldly, more ethereal. From her wavering reflection in a puddle, Nurisha looked like a ghost to herself, which had made her giggle softly.

At the moment however she was bounding along paying little heed to the sceanry, the picture of a playful cub. There were bugs out here who shone and flashed and she hunted then happily. Fireflies. It was like something out of a dream or a story, and Nurisha lived for both.

At first Adamu had not seen the white coated cub, no. He was lost within the night’s sky himself. But soon her scent crossed his nose and with a soft smile he turned and spoke out.

“Why hello there little one. What are you doing up so late?”

A lot of other lions in the pride knew who he was by now, with this mother being the past queen and all, but he never ever made himself seem like something he was. Adamu was normal like everyone else. He just came with extra emotional baggage sometimes.

“It’s lovely isn’t it?”

He asked the tiny cub as he gazed back up at the sky.

She didn’t startle when the brown lion spoke and seemed to melt out of the darkness – for she hadn’t noticed him straight away and his brown wasn’t so vivid at night as her light fur. Nurisha recognised his voice sort of, and she vaguely knew he was a pride member. One of the important-ish ones. Though to Nurisha the important ones had been her sisters and parents, and she’d never really met the Kusini royals. Still, Adamu was recognised.

She spun one last pirouette of her dance-like hunt, one paw raised to bat at an insect, then dropped to all fours. Nurisha wandered over so they could talk better.

“I’m exploring the night.”

“Oh yeah?”

He laughed and smiled at her. She was a cute little thing. Adamu always had a soft spot for cubs, he missed being one himself.

“Do your parents know about your little exploring? I wouldn’t want you getting into trouble with them, you know?”

He teased, his tail flicking from side to side.

"I'm not staying with them at the moment, so no." She shook her head, her curly mane-like fur falling over one eye because of it.

"Does anyone know you're out here?" Nurisha turned the tables on him, wondering if he was allowed out her. He was someone who just had to be in the pride. Was lions like him that made up the pride, especially the royals, so surely he would be missed?

“I don’t see why not.”

He chuckled and smiled at her.

“No one will know I’m, missing.”

His soft colored eyes narrowed as he took a paw to her forehead and messed up her tiny mane-like fur, giving her a noogie. This caused her hair to stick up in a rather funny manner. She seemed like a sweet kid, he liked that. He liked being around kindness, and true kindness was the best.

And it was also nice seeing someone that was out going, when he was her age he was very sad all the time.

“I won’t tell anyone if you don’t tell anyone, deal? I don't want you or myself to get into trouble!

Though he knew he wouldn’t. it was still fun to feed her imagination.
