"Oh. Ok." Well, that first part of what Raleigh said made sense to Ace. Needing to learn how to concentrate all of your energy on things you didn't want to do or that was super hard to get through so that you got them done. Like cleaning the bathroom to go out, or screaming and arguing with Mom all the time to get his way and not giving in.
He was even ready to try it, getting back into position.
Then Raleigh had to say that.
Ace burst into teenage-boy snickering, "That's even MORE gay."

FINALLY! Something was getting through to Ace. A bit of direct honesty and reasoning had done the trick. Ha, should have taken that tact from the start. He smiled, and then Ace had the lack of sense to say that.
Raleigh’s patience suddenly snapped. He grabbed Ace’s collar, pulling the boy forward until their noses were only inches apart. “Just DO it!” He snarled. Abruptly letting the other boy go, he lifted a hand and rubbed the bridge of his nose, as if trying to massage away his sudden flash of anger.
Teaching was a… difficult thing.

Ace was not scared of Raleigh in the least. He pushed away from him, still grinning like an idiot, "Ok, ok. If that's why."
And, after a few more moments of trying to get back into the right frame of mind...Ace finally did as Raleigh was asking, finally getting the hang of breathing and listening for Raleigh's voice as his concentration point. Silence made him wander some, but Raleigh wasn't a psychic, and he wouldn't know that.
Ace did as he was told, because...well, it'd be cool not to have Darebone yell at him for being an idiot all the time, if he could find that point of whatever that they talked about that he should be able to feel...Whatever it was...

Raleigh was looking very annoyed as Ace finally began to focus on the training. The annoyance eventually dropped away and began Raleigh watching Ace’s face carefully. He was also monitoring his own powers; waiting to feel the rise that meant Ace was doing his job.
After some thought Raleigh had decided that if Ace could use his abilities in a setting that was calm and quiet, rather than the 'exciting' training battle he’d had against Susan, the boy might actually begin to feel exactly what his powers were.
“Hmm.” Raleigh made a soft sound in the back of his throat as he felt the beginning tingle. “Keep breathing carefully.”

Oh, yeah, breathing... As Ace turned his mind back around on breathing carefully, the feeling Raleigh had was immediately lost. Ace sighed a bit too at that, because that meant he lost something, whatever that had been. Maybe there was something to this weird meditation thing, even though his feet were cramping and his legs hated the position and he hated sitting STILL like this. Ugh. Maybe the something he'd felt had been forgetting that he was stuck like that. He was going to have to---
Right, breathe in and out and listen and keep eyes half-peeked open to make sure the fan stayed off to the side.

It wasn’t working. Raleigh had felt a little of something but now it was gone. “You know, I can’t understand how somebody could be so dense when it comes to his powers.” He mused out loud. The fan had been picked up again and he was flicking it open and closed. This nut was going to be cracked, even if he had to keep Ace here all day.
New plan! “Did you give that scorpion I gave you a name?” Ra randomly asked. “Oh and you’re allowed to speak. I won’t hit you if you do.” He gave the smallest of grins. The fan snapped shut again and then slid open with another flick of his wrist. “Just don't move from that position.”

"Man, I can't I shake it off a bit?" Ace wiggled his body, just pushing that envelope, "It's name is Deuce." Ace grinned. "Dad named both him and Pocket Ace...and said I didn't have a choice." But he was rather pleased with the names. "Maybe one day I'll have a full deck!" His hands flipped up to indicate what he meant -- he was an expressive speaker -- but then flew back down to his lap. "And I'm NOT dense, maybe they're just the unfeelable sort."

“Nope. No moving.” Raleigh said, sounding rather cheerful. He wasn’t quite sure how his next plan was going to work, since it wasn’t even really a plan. It was a bit like picking from the bottom of the barrel now. If he couldn’t get some results soon… well, he’d go back to hitting Ace with the fan. It was good stress relief.
At Ace’s theory Ra looked a little doubtful. “… maybe.” How were you supposed to use your powers properly if you couldn’t even feel them? Then Raleigh attempted to use his powers of conversation, which weren’t very good. “So…” He searched for a topic. “… have you got… any siblings?” It was obviously forced. The question some how managed to come out uncertain, which annoyed Ra immensely.

Ace gave Raleigh a confused look, "I have a sister that I haven't seen in awhile, why? Aren't we supposed to be concentrating on some...some...some...fake inner core of something..."?
