"I would be grateful." Muroki nodded, inclining his head briefly in a bow before leaning down to have his fill of water. After such a journey through these lands he felt thoroughly parched.
It was a few minutes before he finally felt satisfied, and lifted his head again, catching any stray droplets in their tracks. He looked to Laini again and seemed prepared.
"When the lady is ready..."

Laini watched him as he drank for he was a curious creature to be hold. Strong lions of character usually had a place to stay and a mate to keep them warm at night. But he appeared to have neither and it was a puzzle to her. She imagined herself a strong lioness but she still enjoyed the pride life, knowing that within it, she didn't have to pretend to be strong ALL the time.
As he raised his head, she looked back down at the water and pretended to be absorbed in her own thoughts. She popped her head up in surprise at his question as if to further say that she hadn't been paying attention. "Oh yes. I'm ready," she said with a nod. "And lady really isn't necessary. Haven't earned that title."

Matifu had to hide the fact that he'd noticed her staring, but it was an easy enough feat. He nodded and motioned for her to lead before himself falling into step beside her.
"I don't believe that it's a title that needs to be earned, merely maintained if anything, but if you'd rather I not, I won't." He couldn't tell if it was out of discomfort or a sort of modesty, so he gave her the option. He couldn't say much about this lioness either, without knowing more of her, but she hardly seemed the type to deserve anything less than his respect-- even if he DID find himself hard pressed not to pick up the charm and flirt right off. There were some things in life that were worth the wait, and rather than risk angering someone he'd just met, or hitting on someone elses mate, he'd do a bit more research to find out more about her first.
If things went well, he'd have a new home, and with it, all the time inn the world to make any moves.

"To me it sounds like a title given to those of high birth or ranking. Of which I'm pretty sure I have neither." Actually she was born to a princess and knew about her mother's past since that was all her mother really offered her. But she didn't like to think of herself that way. Just in the same way no one would ever guess Mo was a prince, her uncle. "I'm flattered that you would apply that term to me. But I must confess I'm not repulsed by it and thus cannot honestly tell you whether to or not to call me that. So I'll let you go by your own good judgment which I'm sure is excellent," she teased although not seriously.

Matifu offered a kindly smile, though this time he did not quite refrain from letting a bit of flirtation lace his tone, just a touch, enough that she might question if it was there at all but not enough to be too forward.
"Oh, but lady Laini, you are very much deserving of the title in my eyes, as it's only proper that a gentleman refer to one so beautiful and graceful such as yourself in this way. Anything less would be nothing short of rude."
He kept his gaze ahead calmly as he said this, though he couldn't hid the smallest of smiles as he carried on. The words were indeed heartfelt, but despite his best efforts it seemed she was unintentionally determined to present him with at least a few opportunities that he could not turn down.

She laughed. "Well I'll have to take you're word for it then, shan't I?" She noticed he was a flirt. But flirting never did any harm. Plus she could use a moment to be in a good mood. It had been a while since sweet words had reached her ears. She had found herself more neutral in mood, less energetic since her son left. She knew she should appear more happy but it had always been hard to fake it. But he was a sweet lion. She could see that as a resemblance to Johari, if such a thing were possible.
"Now, come on. I'll take you to your niece," she said with a smile, shaking her head lightly. He was an interesting character and could only guess that this wasn't the last she saw of him. Not that she was opposed to that. Laini enjoyed being able to smile more often. What a character...
