There was no moon tonight. No moon, no snow, no lights. It was one of the darkest nights Shaoilin Woods had known for quite some time. Hardly any animals stirred on such a dangerous night. It was impossible to see other creatures moving in the darkness, so whoever was out on this night had to rely on. . . other senses to get around.
Besides his ears and nose, Asmodeus had another sense that helped him in the dark. A sense that no other living thing had been able to explain to him before. Personally, he called it 'his curse' and referred to it as such. However, sometimes he felt it wasn't so much a curse as a blessing. It had allowed him to catch such a tasty squirrel, after all. First, he had sensed the presence of the creature, and then infected its mind like a disease. After the pathetic rodent was too confused to look out for itself, Asmodeus apeared from the shadows to take its delicious life.
Bloodied squirrel in his maw, Asmodeus trotted quietly along the forest floor. He had a large frame, with long legs, but he wasn't as bulky and muscular as other large wolves. This gave him the agility to prance along the ground with the faintest of sounds.
Only his shining red eyes were visible amongst the shadows. Asmodeus loved nights like this. With so little activity from the other forest inhabitants, he felt like he owned the world. The tall male made his way towards a stream nearby, where he planned to enjoy his well-earned meal.
