So yeah. I've gone skiing at least once every year since I was two. In twenty-one years, I've had only one major accident and that was when I was five. So, I guess Murphy decided that my streak of good luck was up, yes? Anyway, I went skiing last Saturday, great snow, finally warm, for once, and the first day I've been on the hill during daylight in three years. Feelin' pretty good, decided to check out the bumps on Chicken (our super insanely steep run that could be improved only be being about six times as long). Wouldn't you know that as soon as I hit the really fun steep stuff, my one ski decides to explore the woods, my other decides it ain't havin' none of that, and my body gets caught in between. Tweaked my lateral tendon pretty good and stretched (not broke, thank GOD) the LCL ligament. So I've been in an immobilizer, on crutches, out of work, for a week already, and then the guys at employee health today said that I'd be out of work for at least another two, until I'm completely off the crutches and able to do full range of motion with that knee (I still can't extend fully or lock it, although the bending is progressing nicely). I must admit, it's nice to have the time off, I've got a lot of stuff that I'd been wanting to get done, but at the same time, I'm sort of grousing about having it happen now. I've got less than five months on the job, and then this happens, and I know one can't help it, but I feel bad, sort of like I'm letting my co-workers down by not being there. Not to mention appearing bad in front of my bosses.

I am so sorry to hear this GR, omg, that is awful. I am sorry too that I did not check this forum earlier, but it has not been getting any posts.

I hope the healing process for you is quick. This won't stop you from skiing again will it?

Actually, I was cleared to start work again today. Yay! Three weeks off the job is enough for me - it's boring just sitting around the house. I won't get to ski again until next year though. crying I don't want to re-injure my knee and be back OFF work again. That would be just too embarrassing, not to mention detrimental to my bank account. Short term disability is nice, but there's nothing like a full paycheck.

Congrats on getting back to work, that is wonderful because it means you are doing better! And yay for the paycheck! XDD
