here you will learn about some of the ninja techniques to start it all off lets go with the legends there were three main things ninjas were rumored to do,
1. flying
2.walking on water
3.climbing with expertise
now lets start with flying. ninjas were trained from the age of 6 which is 1 year earlier than the samurai. they would train by jumping over bushes and seeing who could balance on the tree stub the longest. over the years this training would intensify until they would be the equivalent to Olympic jumpers which is clear over 7 feet!!!!

next up...walking on water. as you might have heard on "Myth Busters" the things that ninjas walked on water with got busted that is probably because they were not trained to do it and the thing they walked on either "Ukidaru" which look like two baskets on their feet or the more stable "water spider" which are flat the one they made was probably not well made. another trick that ninjas had up their sleeves that involved water was breathing under water they would get a straw and breath through it, but from above the water it looked like another plant

Finally the wall climbing, its pretty simple actually, Ninjas had "tekagi" which strapped on to their shoe"tekagi-portable cleats that strap onto your shoe" and they either had shuko or kurorokagi "kurorokagi-a rigt angled metal hook that has a wooden grip" http://www1.kamakuranet.ne.jp/sankaido/parts/photo/tekagi-1.jpg http://www.japonica.ru/Pictures/Ninjutsu/Kurorokagi.jpg
and if you follow the links above there will be photos of these items

you wanna know how ninjas saw in the dark...good because this is one of the coolest techniques but it makes you say "duh!!!" at the end how ninjas saw in the dark was right before sunset they would close one eye until nightfall that way one eye would be adjusted to the dark at night fall they would switch eyes and eventually have them both open, so when there targets eyes were still adjusting to the darkness around them ninjas could see... ninja

now this is one of the coolest techniques that ninjas liked to use on everybody what they would do is if they saw an enemy, samurai would confront them if the ninjas were seen so the ninjas would point their sword at them like in the picture below this would make it seem to the samurai that the ninja has a full lengthed katana instead of a short ninjato, so the samurai would take his katana, then tell the ninja his information "ex. I am Jon-do son of Jonethen-do and i am from some were village" (its a samurai thing) then the samurai would fully lunge his sword at the ninja the ninja would jump back and get into some kind of turtle position on the floor with their ninjato nearly touching the ground the samurai would see this as a venerable position (thats what the ninjas want you to think) but as soon as the samurai puts his sword above his head the ninja(s) spin around jump (really high) and stab the samurai of course taking the samurai completely by surprise. WHOAH THAT WAS A MOUTH FULL!

some times the ninja would fail his mission but thinks he can get away. they would throw a smoke bomb at the ground as a distraction and flee, if they fail to elude the enemy the first time then the enemy gets hurt the second time for this there is a small leather bag filled with ground up iron. if a samurai would chase them, the ninja would stop turn around and quickly grab the pouch and through the entire thing into the enemy(s) eye(s)!!! ninja

The most important thing about being a ninja is patience. Ninjas would have missions lasting years at a time!!! They would have to change their looks, cloths, and even their RELIGION!!! One ninja was hiding in a cupbuard for days without food or watter or even going to the bathroom (guss he was lucky) until he was finally discovered.

Ninjas were trained at a very early age to dislocate their joints sometimes the only way to do this is to dislocate it for them. this was very helpful to the ninjas later on because if you dislocate your shoulder (depending on your size) you can fit in between bars that is if there are no horizontal bars. they also practiced joint locks do their knee would not bend while their throwing a kick.

the art of stealth
1. Maintain balance control by allowing your body weight to sink and be carried by deeply flexed knees.
2. Remember to breathe along with your movement. Unconsciously holding your breath can unknowingly produce unneeded muscle tension, and could result in gasping release of breathe if you are startled or accidentally unbalanced.
3. Stay alert to the entire scene. Do not become so engrossed in watching your feet that you do not notice other people an elements entering the surroundings.
4. Use all joints for movement, emphasizing fluidity through the engagement of the ankles, knees, and hips for stepping. Avoid the lazy and dangerous habit of stiffening knees and swinging the entire leg from the hip.
5. Maintain your weight and balance on your grounded leg while you move the other leg into position to bear the weight. When absolute silence is a must, avoid distributing your weight over both legs at the same time.
6. If practical, allow your hands to float lightly in front of and beside your torso, one arm higher and one arm lower, to detect possible obstructions before your committed body weight encounters them.
7. Pause and hold your position if you feel that you have accidentally caused too much noise. Listen for signs that you were heard, such as the movement of others or the immediate silencing of background noise following your slip. Sink a little lower on your knees to physically relax that could normally jump into your body with alarm. Take a deep breathe and release it slowly to further relax. Continue your pause for as long as you feel is necessary to regain composure and allow possible listeners to decide they did not hear anything after all.
8. Be as patient as possible. If speed of travel is not important, take as much time as you can. Impatience and the resultant hasty movement that it encourages are the greatest dangers to the person who must move silently without detection.
9. Keep your movement appropriate to your surroundings. Do not go to greater lengths than necessary to conceal your movement, while at the same being aware of what others entering the area may see if they cannot hear. Total silence may not be needed when moving through wooded or densely populated areas where scattered noise is a natural part of the environment. Also be aware that low profile crawling or sliding ma be the only way to move silently without being seen in some locations.

Ninja also employed a variety of weapons and tricks using gunpowder. Smoke bombs and firecrackers were widely used to aid an escape or create a diversion for an attack. They used timed fuses to delay explosions. Ōzutsu (cannons) they constructed could be used to launch fiery sparks as well as projectiles at a target. Small "bombs" called metsubushi (目潰し, "eye closers") were filled with sand and sometimes metal dust. This sand would be carried in bamboo segments or in hollowed eggs and thrown at someone, the shell would crack, and the assailant would be blinded. Even land mines were constructed that used a mechanical fuse or a lit, oil-soaked string. Secrets of making desirable mixes of gunpowder were strictly guarded in many ninja clans.
Other forms of trickery were said to be used for escaping and combat. Ashiaro are wooden pads attached to the ninja's tabi (thick socks with a separate "toe" for bigger toe; used with sandals). The ashiaro would be carved to look like an animal's paw, or a child's foot, allowing the ninja to leave tracks that most likely would not be noticed.
Also a small ring worn on a ninja's finger called a shobo would be used for hand-to-hand combat. The shobo (or as known in many styles of ninjutsu, the shabo) would have a small notch of wood used to hit assailant's pressure points for sharp pain, sometimes causing temporary paralysis. A suntetsu is very similar to a shobo. It could be a small oval shaped piece of wood affixed to the finger by a small strap. The suntetsu would be held against a finger (mostly middle) on the palm-side and when the hand was thrust at an opponent using the longer piece of wood to target pressure points such as the solar plexus.
Ninja also used special short swords called ninjato, or shinobigatana. Ninjato are smaller than katana but larger than wakizashi. The ninjato was often more of a utilitarian tool than a weapon, not having the complex heat treatment of a usual weapon. Another version of the ninja sword was the shikoro ken (saw sword). The shikoro ken was said to be used to gain entry into buildings, and could also have a double use by cutting (or slashing in this case) opponents. The shuriken is a weapon that was essentially created from popular culture. It was almost never used by actual ninjas.
Many Ninja disgused themselves as farmers so that their weapons (the Kama) could be used as weapons and farming implements, their shurikens were also coated with poison so that when in direct combat with another the Ninja could throw the shuriken and the injury would seem minor but if left untreated (depending on the strength of the poison) it could be fatal.

Dang ninjas rule! I really liked the hiding in water trick, where their straws looked like every other plant in the water, very clever! XD
