Politics:

Tentative - I haven't really worked things out yet completely and this is what Slifer was kind enough to send to me. - Sey

Slifer Ozura
Although historically Jaqar has been a country known for its warriors and armed forces, it has remained relatively quite since the fall of the Empire. Some speculate and worry that Jaqar is simply preparing for a war against Eindor, although the majority seems to believe Jaqar is finally settling into a peaceful type of politics under the rule of Rastha Uru’sanq, the leading monarchy for more than forty years.

Green: Alliance
Orange: Trade Partners
Blue: Neutrality
Dark Blue: Some sort of Trade/Travel Restriction
Red: War/I'm going to slaughter you and your people; scream ALL OF THEM

Lyaeus: Although Lyaeus seems like a backwards place, Jaqar has no problems with the country of Lyaeus. They are not intimidated by their army, as Jaqar believes their own army is much stronger, and should be able to crush any forces Lyaeus sends its way. Despite the King’s attempts to forge stronger relationships with the other countries, particularly Jaqar’s neighbouring countries, he has all but ignored Lyaeus, not wishing to deal with such an unstable country.

Ebur Neutrality - Trading Partners
Jaqarian relationships with Ebur have always been relatively stable, Jaqar offering Earthen stones in exchange for agricultural goods. This trade is a necessary one, more so for Jaqar than Ebur, as much land in Jaqar is poor for agriculture, often resulting in famine in at least one area of the country, if not more. A recently established trade path through the mountains has helped to firm this relationship, as well as the King’s more recent sending of tribute to Ebur, as a gift of good will.

Tirinithos

Eindor: Neutrality, although hostilities are still felt towards Eindor all throughout Jaqar
Tensions between Eindor and Jaqar have been especially high compared to the other countries’ tensions with the once Empire-ruling country. It has led to many concerns between the other countries in regards to a war that may break out between Jaqar and Eindor, although recently, much to the disappointment of the peasantry, the King has sent tribute to Eindor as a gift of good will, in hopeful attempts to mend their old feud. Although this gift of good will has been sent, no trade commencements have begun with the Eindorians, and travel is still very restricted between the two nations.

Valena

Arrosent Neutrality.
Recently relations with Arrosent have been on the rise, as the King attempts to make as many friends in neighboring countries as possible. It seems as though the King is trying to make a new name for Jaqar, and a real attempt has been made with Arrosent in this regard, with the country of Jaqar opening its borders freely to allow Arrosent to move trade cartels through the country towards Valena.

Mitania

Caelestus Neutral Trade Buddies
Although Jaqar has only just began to expand it’s sights towards the development of airships, it has done so with vigour, and as a result has begun buying air stones by the ship-load. This has led to positive relations between Caelestus and Jaqar, as only money can do.

Halledus Neutrality
As a nation of warriors, many Jaqarians often make the pilgrimage to Halledus at least once in their lives, in order to see the Island which houses the warrior priests. Jaqar also sends a fair amount of their people to the country in order to seek training as Paladins.

Government & Military:

Slifer Ozura
The power in Jaqar belongs utterly in the hands of the Royal family at the time. The monarchy in Jaqar can belong to one bloodline for centuries, and then be lost to a successor to the throne belonging to a different bloodline. Successions in Jaqar are given to the bloodline with the most power at the time, although this is an arbitrary point for secession, usually resulting in a lot of bloodshed when two different bloodlines make a claim for the throne. The symbol for the Royal Family changes depending on the current bloodline in power. At this point, the Uru’sanq house has the monarchy, and their symbol is the bison.

In Jaqar only males may hold the throne, and while on the throne, the King has complete power over the country, making a cabinet or elected body unnecessary. The King does however have the option to choose an Advisor to help him rule the country. This Advisor usually comes from one of the rare Permians which have gone to different countries to study in the university. This position is considered an honour throughout Jaqar. The Advisor will usually make low-level decisions for the King, resulting in a great amount of pressure being placed on the Advisor.

The army in Jaqar has always been a strong one, as should be expected from a people that prides themselves on their warrior heritage, although in modern times the army has become especially potent under the watchful hand of Exalt-General Kalek, the King’s son.

The army in Jaqar is made up of various divisions, with the lowest division consisting of simple peasantry assigned weapons and basic training, serving their country for a period of five years. This portion of the army is usually only a preliminary force, initiating combat before the real forces come. The secondary division of the army, where the majority of the forces lay, consist of fully trained men who make a career out of their service. They are much better trained, and have ten separate divisions within themselves, each with their own battle standard and General, although all armed forces fly the standard of Jaqar.

The final division, the best trained and obedient are the Black Hand of Jaqar. This consists of three separate divisions, each under the direct control of the Exalt-General, with a temporary General assigned should the Exalt be unavailable. The Black Hand only marches when crushing a threat to the country, internally or externally. When not marching, the Black Hand remains within the Capital, as an armed force for the city and the monarchy. All divisions in the army answer directly to the Exalt-General, although true control over the army lies in the hands of the King.
