I just answered your question in the Welcome to the Captain's Guild announcement (:
There are basically two reasons for inviting people here:
1) Even though a bit of the information from the CG is supposed to be moved to the Registered Guild's forum when the mods revamp it, most of it is going to stay in the CG, so we've preserved all of the information, including guides made by users and we're letting people know we have all of that.
2) This guild is always going to be active because I'll definitely check here everyday and so will some others, but 10 different people with their own specialties and views isn't much of a variety when it comes to help on improving someone's guild. It's better to have 1 million people and only 100 active people to lend their banner making services, opinions, etc, otherwise the subs are kind of pointless to have.
