I wish that America would go back on it. It just makes sense that whatever paper money you print has to be backed in vaults with gold.
Seems like the economy would do better if it did go back....

They took it off in the... Nixon administration. One reason is because there simply isn't enough gold in the world to back even the American economy, let alone any other country's.
So technically, all our money has no value whatsoever.
