Silk knew he had said something wrong as soon as he saw Chase's reaction, he scrambled to try and explain what he meant, "No offense I meant." He said hurriedly lowering his head in sheepishness. He felt speechless as his mind went blank as he tried to find the right wording. Not wanting to make his guest feel even more dejected. "It's a bit of a quirk, I would say. When my feathers are out of place, uncomfortable I get. Absolutely perfect they must always be!"
He lowered his ear tufts in embarrassment, "Vanity, my minder said would be the death of this one." Looking at the ground Silk continued more quietly, "Envious of you I am actually. To see one that is happy with their task. That joy I have yet to have found." Silk felt a little surprised with himself, he had never opened up to someone so much before. A frown crossed his face, personally he felt ashamed of being a watcher. The catch all task in his opinion. The other tasks all had important things to do for the clan, and all he got to do was watch them.

“None taken, none taken.” Chase was quick to say dismissively as his host hurried an explanation. It was obvious the watcher hadn’t meant to offend him and that put him at ease almost instantly even if his heart was still beating a little faster than usual.
“You do seem cut out for barding.” He offered with a sheepish smile.
Envious of you I am actually. To see one that is happy with their task.
“Envious… oh, wow. That’s… I guess I am… happy. At least my friends say I look happier now.” Chase tried to find the right words. It seemed he was sharing a little too much with a complete stranger but that was something that didn't really bother the gatherer. “And you’ll be as well, right? You are so sure of what you want. And you work hard for it so I’m sure you’ll succeed. You should visit the Crownleaf Theater if you ever find yourself a bit further to the south.”
The gatherer leaned to the side and looked at the shelter’s entrance as he preened a few wayward feathers. “It’s getting a little better out there, I think. Noctus is in a good mood tonight.”
