It took them an hour, or two to get to the island they were sailing to, and another three to finsih bartering with the pirates that gathered there. As Malik's father did buisness Malik was listening to the stories that the pirates were telling , some were about quest for treasures, and others about fights with marines, and one pirate was telling stories about a devil fruit that allowed the user to turn into smoke.

When all the pirates were gone Malik, and his dad went ashore to eat lunch, which was mainly fruit ,and meat. As they ate Malik's father told him more stories these were about Malik's Grandpa who was a pirate on the grandline. Although he was a pirate his son, Malik's father, did not chose that life, he chose to be the merchant of pirates helping them without using violence.

After they were done eating, Malik, and his dad got back aboard the ship, and set sail for, an island were Malik's father could get more supplies for the pirates luckily for the people who traded him the supplies they did not know or have any connections to him so it was all in all a good deal for them since the marines would not chase after them. As they sailed ships appeared on the horizon ship with the marines flag.

As the ships moved closer Malik's dad knew they were in trouble so he got Malik in a life jacket , and had him hide in under a spare sail in the front of the ship. As the ships finally neared there ship Malik's father knew he was going to die. Before the marine ships fired Malik's father fired at them taking out two of there ship before they fired at him. Almost instantly Malik's father was hit by a cannon, and he died in pieces. The ships kept firing until the ship sunk. The only thing that was left was a large piece of the ship deck that was cover by a sail. Sailing way the marines left Malik to the mercy of the sea.

Standing up in a semi awake state Malik attacked Shanks with every technique he had learned from him. Malik wasn't truely incontrol but these attack were from his soul which made them powerful. As he changed from on move to another he kept Shanks on his toes as he had to switch each method of defense each time the move changed finally Malik stopped now fully awake."Nice job Malik you mastered my finale technique, now go and party in a bar."Shanks said as he watched Malik leave.
