Zane was huddled in the corner of HyTech (as always), tucked underneath his blanket (as always), and quiet (not as always). The kuppy had his tongue stuck out of his mouth to one side and was concentrating on cutting up a square of paper with the pair of safety scissors that his father had entrusted to him. Something about maturity level being equal to his coordination level. There were already several pieces of oddly shaped paper, colored brightly with scrawling of the hyte's handwriting on them. One of the closest one's was almost decipherable - "... One F...f Kupp...Cho..." Zane was so intent on his work that he probably wouldn't notice if someone came up and sat on him.

The tall, solemn knight was watching from the kitchen's door, leaning against the doorframe with a sliver of apple he was nursing. Poor Zane -- he loved his puppy, but he thought with amusement that he was still so very puppyish in some ways...
"Zane," he called quietly, finishing off the apple regretfully with a few crunches, "what are you doing?"

One of the kuppy's ears shot up and the male hyte quickly dropped the scissors in order to hide his work, in case it was someone the work was relevant to. "N-nothing!" he said quickly, trying to push the scraps of paper under his blanket. Good thing the scissors were made for a pre-schooler because the kuppy was throwing it about in the air, coming dangerously close to hitting himself in the mouth. "I'm not doing anything! Just cutting up some paper for fun. That's all." When Zane finally looked up and realized that it was Ciaran, he relaxed and smiled. "Oh. Hi, Ciaran. Sorry for the... mess."

"Be careful," Ciaran said automatically, sighing. He lowered himself carefully down beside Zane, folding his legs beneath him delicately. "I don't believe you. What are you -actually- up to?" His smile was small, but warm as he leaned in curiously.

He couldn't lie to the centaur, so the kuppy leaned close, telling himself that it was for secrecy and not the nearness factor and whispered in a low voice. "You've got to keep it a secret," he said, glancing around to make sure nobody was around to spoil the surprise. Zane fished around under his blanket and proudly held up something that was supposed to be his finished product. In messy lettering, it said, "To: Mom and Dad. Happy Wedding Day! Here is your coupon for one day of FREE kuppy laundry service. <3 Zaney."
The kuppy was so proud of himself. It was shaped like a heart and even had an expiration date (his birthday, 180 years in the future, but he wanted it to look real) and a bar code that was anything but straight fat and skinny lines. "I thought of it all by myself. I'm going to give my parents a whole booklet of them for their wedding gift."
