"Miss Lumina, I don't believe you've ever given me a chance to show you anything about myself. As for Heret's fear of becoming a father, I can see where it's coming from, but you should tell him that it's a silly fear." Balin stated firmly before he shook his head again. "I don't know if Father plans to do anything about Heret, hell, I don't know if he even knows that Heret's still alive. He left Heret for dead. Now me.... Well, Father knows about me, but it won't matter. I will kill him. So please, don't worry and don't be sad. Everything will work out, I promise."

Lumi puffed out a breath of air, trying desperately to not get angry with the buck before her. But it was hard. not that she was acutally mad at Balin, rather, she was really angry with was their father. A buck that she'd never before met in her life, and yet, a buck that she hated with every fiber of her being. She took in a few even breaths in an attempt to calm herself. "I know it's a silly fear, but, he beleives in it so strongly..." She closed her eyes and knew that he had a point, and prayed that he was right in the fact that everything would work out soon. "well then, tell me about yourself Balin, so that I may create an opinion of you."

The buck frowned, chewing lightly on his lip as he thought about his answer. He really was desprete to get Lumi to like him. She was almost always with Heret and he felt as if he could never really talk to his brother because this female never wanted him around. "Well... I'm about a year older than Heret but most thought we were twins because we were always together. I learned to paint some too, but I was never as good as Heret..." Balin frowned, knowing that nothing he was saying was probably going to help his cause... "I had a doe that I almost became mates with a few years ago before she suddenly disappeared for some other buck. I'm not just a player. I really do like fawns, and I'll try to help you and Heret take care of yours when you have them... If you'll let me that is."

Lumi listened with an un-interested look on her face, her ears twitched slightly when she heard him say that the two were always together. She felt her lips pull downward in a slightl frown as she thought about what that meant. Heret was once again deprived of something he'd had with him all his life because of his father, and now also in part becuase of her. She didn't like that idea. She turned her head slightly, when he talked about almost having mated with a doe, and then her sudden dissapearance. She wondered if she'd really left on her own... "what nonsense." She said in a harsh tone giving Balin a disaproving look. "What type of a doe do you think I am that I would allow my fawns to grow up with out their family around." She tisked him, she may not like Balin, but she knew the importance of having family involved in the life and care of a fawn.

At first, Balin thought that Lumi was going to refuse to let him help with his own nephews/neices but as she continued, he smiled and visibly brightened. "Thank you. Really." It was a relief to know that just because he was exiled from his home along with Heret, that he wouldn't be seperated from the rest of his family. Lumi couldn't know just how much it meant to him.

Lumi shook her head. "I don't know why you would think to thank me? Why should you have to thank me?" She raised an eyebrow at him, as if she were questioning his intelligence. "Besides, Heret won't be able to teach them everything that they need to know. And heaven forbid if we have boys, there are just some things that they need to know that girls dont. Things I've never learned. Things that Heret will have learned, obviously, just, it will be easier if they had a male figure that can see... Not that I dont think Heret won't be able to do a good job as a father... but you see what I mean?"

"Just because, I don't want you to never want me around my own family." Balin replied firmly, with a frown. Why did she still hate him?! Damnit all! He sighed and shook his head. "I will glady help teach your fawns what I can, but I don't know how much they will listen to me if you continue to not want me around. Fawns do seem to not like who their parents don't like. I have done what I can and you continue to treat me like I'm stupid and that I am the most offensive bucks you've ever met. I try to make amends even though I can't figure out why you hate me so much, but nothing changes. What the hell do you want me to do?!"

Lumi felt her patience growing thin. "I don't hate you Balin, stop saying that I do, I'm merely indifferent to you." She shook her head, not liking having to explain this at all, it always made her feel like a bad person. "I'm indifferent to practically everyone... Heret, and a few others are quite possibly the only people I show any real emotions towards." She huphed at him. "You get so upset over me telling you that it would only be obvious for me to want you around my children. You need to learn to listen better," She looked up at the sky through the trees, checking to see how late it was by where the sun was positioned, and said in an almost absent minded way. "Besides, why should I hate you? You're the reason I'm still with Heret."

"Can't you at least act like you want me around?" Balin sighed, shaking his head. "I'm sorry, it's just... Well, I'm not used to people acting...indifferent to me." The buck frowned and looked back to Lumi. "And I don't believe that. Even if you had left, you would have come back. That's what I think and I'm not going to change that."

"Balin," She said, turning around and walking towards him. "that's because i don't like being alone with people. It's one of my many phobias, the more you're alone with someone, the more you grow to like them and become freinds, I've spent my whole life alienating myself from others. You yourself saw the reaction I had when I was with Heret." She gave a slightly hurt expression. "Truth be told, I thought you didn't like me becuase of that day, if I'd been in your situation I would have told Heret not to stay with a flighty girl like me..." She sighed, knowing that it was behind her and what was done is done. "If you and I were in a group, I'd act like a completely different person."

Balin sighed, "Lumi, I may not have been very happy with you when we first met, but I've seen how much Heret loves you and how much you love him. I can't hate you for being scared and for what could have happened." Again he kicked at the dirt with a back leg.

Lumi nodded her head slightly, happy that they could get this hole business behind them. "Well then," She said, a slightly lighter tone to her voice. "Let's just agree to never speak of that even again then shall we?" She lifted her head slightly and looked towards Balin, as if challenging him to say that he wouldn't, she couldn't help it. "Besides, I need to get back to Heret, it's getting late.... would you like to join me? I'm sure Heret would be happy to hear you."

"Alright. Let's head back then." Balin agreed with a smile as he nudged Lumi and started back toward theirHeret and Lumi's glen. Heret was waiting for Lumi out front and his ears flicked towards the footsteps as they came closer. "Lumi?"

Lumi smiled at Heret warmly and trotted up to him, nuzzling him ina gentle greeting, her smile widened as she thought of what had just happened, and she looked over towards Balin in a better mood than she'd been in earlier. "guess who i found." She said teasingly.
