Bug Catching

First of all, in order to catch bugs you will need a Bug Collecting Kit. The only place to catch bugs in the East Blue is in Faron Woods. The bug catching process is quite simple, although you can only catch bugs 15 times a day.

Roll a 10-sided die. The outcome of that roll determines what bug is spotted in the woods. Then, you must roll two 20-sided dice to see if you were able to catch that particular bug.


1. Weaver Ant - A very small, common insect. Very easily caught, but they aren't worth a lot.

Sell For: 50 Beli

2. Cheetah Snail - The fastest species of snail in world. Despite its name, the snail is still very slow compared to other insects.
Roll: 4 or higher
Sell For: 200 Beli

3. Honey Bee - A common honey bee. Take caution of its stinger when attempting to catch it.
Roll: 7 or higher
Sell For: 400 Beli

4. Gypsy Earwig - A small, flat insect. These insects tend to be drawn to damp areas.
Roll: 10 or higher
Sell For: 700 Beli

5. Praying Mantis - These insects can be found in numerous places around the world. Is is not easily spotted among the green foliage.
Roll: 14 or higher
Sell For: 1,000 Beli

6. Timpani Cicada - A noisy insect. This particular species emits frequent, low-pitched sounds, rather than the usual high-pitched ones. Hearing the sound this insect makes can be quite pleasant at times.
Roll: 17 or higher
Sell For: 1,200 Beli

7. Blue Skimmer Dragonfly - A rather large species of dragonfly. This insect is usually found near water habitats.
Roll: 20 or higher
Sell For: 1,500 Beli

8. Pollen Spider - Unlike most spiders, this one feeds on pollen. Completely harmless, although very rare.

9. Monarch Butterfly - A beautiful insect. People enjoy having this insect around them, as they are a wonderful sight.
Roll: 28 or higher

10. Giant Hercules Beetle - A real prize if caught. This is the most valuable insect found in the woods. It is large in size and is a very talented fighter.
