It was days like this that made Snaedis grateful. Grateful for food, and water, and bright skies and the breeze that was making the heat more than bearable, but pleasant. It was a day she couldn't bare to stay in her hide-away through. Normally, Snaedis was a nocturnal animal. Sneaking up on her sleeping prey was the fastest and easiest way to her next meal, but today made her legs itch to go wandering. So, wander she did.
She left her hole for the sake of wandering, and after a few hours of running in dashes across the plains, she found herself nearing a water hole. Anxiety ripped through her; she recalled her last visit to a watering hole during the day. She'd ran into cubs who'd wandered from their parents. She hoped that didn't happen again.
Caution made her tense, and she slunk down in the grass, stalking towards the watering hole as if it were some wary thing about to be taken down. Once she was sure no one was around, Snaedis rose and shook herself, striding to the water's edge and peering down at her reflection. For a brief second, she saw something she didn't like, but she blinked and it was gone. Wasn't that always the way with ghosts?
She took a drink, and stepped back, looking around. It was peaceful and quiet, too quiet. Something was coming. She sniffed, trying to pick up a scent on the wind, but it wasn't in her favor.
She'd just have to be prepared.

[Insert Atticus here]
The bigger black male purred, stretching his limbs, his toes outstretching from his massive paws. He was a larger male.. Definately not average, as he could tower over the bigger of the males.
But still, he was normal, as there were even others bigger than he. But Atticus did not use his large bulk for fighting, nor did he really use it at all, unless it was to catch the warm rays of the sun. He enjoyed sunbathing, he also enjoyed just..existing. Never was a lion happier with his life, even though Atticus had always been a loner.
He hadn't minded at all, being alone. It had let him hone his social skills. He had become refined, and happy to be alive..Where others were always complaining, or wishing to be different.
He flicked his large tail, ready for the water that was supposed to be in the area. He could smell it on the air, and it made him realize the dry texture of his mouth.
Oh water would be a relief. Though, so would a little company.

Snaedis's ears flicked absently as she stood beside the water, rooted to the spot as blue eyes scanned the horizon. Whoever it was was getting closer, and whether or not he smelled her, she certainly picked up on him now and again. At least, she assumed it was a him. Whether she was mistaken or not would be seen sooner or later, surely. She planted her feet firmly to the ground, claws digging into the dirt beneath her paws so she wouldn't go dashing off. She'd found the place first, and if whoever it was was looking to cause trouble, she'd certainly defend her right to be there.
Patience was one of Snaedis's few true virtues, and despite the breeze and the comfort of the day, she didn't let it lull her into relaxing. She'd do that after she found out what was going to happen, and not a second sooner. Stubborn determination kept her eyes roaming back and forth, watching for something, anything, to come into her line of sight.

He started humming to himself, almost dancing as he walked closer to the water. He was odd, yes. He wasn't like others. But he was a good soul who knew how to treat others.
That was not to say he was all mush and jelly beans though. The male had a violent temper if pushed. Though it was strictly to other males. He just didn't like them.
He had been used to being alone so long, that the attention of a female was so much different than the attention of a male. The attention of the male was not warranted, and he would have none of it.
As he rounded the sandy corner, his eyes raised to see the female in a very defensive pose. He looked around him, stopping dead still tomake sure there wasnt something more threatening than him around. Seeing it was him she was staring at, he smiled a bit.
"That water all yours?"

When Snaedis spotted the lion who was definitely bigger then she was, for a brief moment, she contemplated bolting. And the second after that, she chastized herself. She'd found this water first, and it was big enough to share; he had no need to chase her off. She glanced around, looking for others. She didn't smell any others, but one could never be sure. When it came to lions and possible prides, she played it safe instead of making silly risks. But no, if others were there, she'd notice.
Or so she liked to think.
She was almost amused by his looking around and when he spoke she faltered for a minute, as though he wasn't supposed to be allowed to talk. After a moment, she quirked a brow and smirked a little. "And what if I said it was?"
