Chandra had groomed herself impeccably today, for it was an important day. She was going to formally be introduced to Ares' young daughter. Ares was her favorite male, and he'd had cubs with some wretched whore of Zahina's. The lioness could understand his motive; sometimes males had urges that needed immediate satisfaction, and Da'lin lions were picky, as was fit for their station. It was quite a blessing that that weakling's gene could manifest in a young Da'lin, and Chandra had plans for this little girl. She was going to be the youngest of her Melisandes, the sickly-sweet followers of the queen bee of this pride. But even the fluffiest bumblebee had a stinger, and Chandra wanted to make sure that this little girl was on her side. As such, she needed to make the proper impression. She knew that she was graceful, beautiful, and understood better than anybody how to manipulate others with backhanded compliments. Appearance, in this case, would be everything. It always was. Finally, happy with her looks, she padded delicately to the edge of the lake, where she'd agreed to meet the pair. She arrived well-before the appropriate time, and was pleased to see that they were not yet there. A lady should always arrive first when winning over a new follower; it must not appear that anything else is worth her attention at the moment. Later, followers can be ignored, but not at the beginning. She reminded herself of this as she quickly glanced over her shoulder at her reflection. Perfection incarnate. A smug smile twitched across her lips, which she quickly replaced with as sincere a look as she could muster. She saw a male in the near distance, and a smaller lion trotting at his side. That must be them. Shaking herself quickly, Chandra nodded towards them in greeting. "Ares!" she called out. "Good morning! How good of you to come with your young lady!"

Ares moved nervously with Circe at his side, she was following a few steps behind him. He hadn’t really gotten prepared for anything, he told Circe she was meeting a female he was potentially interested in and she should give her opinion on the matter, but also asked that she be on good behavior unless she wished to be reprimanded. His cool blue eyes looked for particular landmarks as he made is way to the waters. Circe had a sort of vision where she could tell if Ares would get a long with someone for long period of time. He gazed up ahead to see Chandra at her feet already greeting the pair, “Good day Chandra, this is my daughter Circe.” Circe bowed her head looking up at the female. She knew why her dad was hanging with her at least, she was pretty. Circe couldn’t deny it and wouldn’t, but she hoped the female wasn’t daft. She would never agree to living with an imbecile.

"I'm very pleased to meet you, Circe," Chandra said. This time, she meant it. Meeting the girl was a very good thing for her. She studied the little cub carefully. There was no sign that her mother was a spineless trollop; the girl had turned out wonderfully. Very attractive, with her father's strength behind her. "As your father said, my name is Chandra. I'm something of a healer; I met your father after one of his fierce battles, and I asked to meet you, so here you are." She flicked her ears in respect to Ares, then continued studying the girl. "If you'll forgive me for mentioning the unfortunate circumstance of your mother's identity, you turned out very nicely for having her dirty blood. I don't think Da'lin himself could tell that you were of Zahina descent- at least in looks. How has pride life been for you?" It was an interesting, to say the least, but there was no point running circles around the question. If the girl was some pansy who yearned for her mother, then there was no point in teaching her anything.

"My father retrieved me and I couldn't be happier. My siblings are weak and my mother was careless. I have no intentions on staying with her as I am not of her blood. It may run through my veins but it is not what rules me." She sat on her haunches looking at Chandra, "So you are a healer. How intriguing," she replied semi sarcastically, her ears flicked as she heard a low rumble come from her father. "In other words she needs a proper lioness to teach her the way of the da'lin, our way." He looked to Chandra as Circe sat quietly. She wasn't too fond on the idea, having another strange lioness in her life.

"In my opinion, the Da'lin ways are something best forged for oneself while learning another art. For example, I understood the meaning of being a Da'lin female when I learned how to heal from my grandmother. It shows our true independence, y'see. And I think she's well on the way- she understands that her Zahina mother hadn't any strength. You were right to retrieve her. But... even a Da'lin can be weak." Chandra's eyes steeled a bit as she looked down at the little girl. "Are you strong? It is not a question of can you be strong, or will you be strong, but are you strong. This I need to know."

"Strong in mind yes, but as I am a cub I have little physical strength. The most I could possibly have though," Ares nodded his head in agreement. He didn't fear her bite but it wasn't something he wanted to endure. Ares looked at Chandra, "She is capable of learning, she has little of her mother in her, that was saved for the only boy. Her son, not mine." he rumbled. Circe looked straight ahead thinking of her brother as Ares talked about him as if he weren't worth anything. She would have to get used to it.

Chandra's grin grew slightly sinister. "Then it seems that you'll be worth the teaching, little Circe. Tell me; have you encountered any other Da'lin females yet? Have you noticed our presence? The way we walk, the way we carry ourselves, the way we exude the pride and tenacity of our breed from our very pores? Have you come to terms with the idea that Da'lins take for themselves? Survival, young Circe, is not enough for us. Have you learned any of this? You seem to have realized that your so-called family is nothing. Dirt. Scum under your paws. The Da'lin is your real family, and the only one worth caring about. But we're not a happy family- have you learned to watch your back around the others? These things I cannot teach you how to do. What I can teach you is healing, hunting, and how to ensnare whatever prey you like," she said, smirking. "You have to want to learn, though. And a warning: No Da'lin lioness or lion, myself included- and most likely your father, though I will let him speak for himself- will tolerate a dullard." Her voice brightened then. "But! I'm quite certain you'll prove an apt pupil. You answered my first question with the only right answer, you know. You're clever; I can tell."

Circe shook her head, she hadn't noticed any other females but she had been a bit of a recluse. Ares added, "She's been secluded, I wanted to get the right influences for her next female she met. Another accident wasn't going to happen," he assured Chandra. Circe looked at the female, "I am smart, quick and a smart a**. But no dullard." She watched the female unsure if she liked her, She didn't trust her, that wouldn't be smart, but she did trust her father in that he would do whats right for her. Ares looked to the female, "I have discussed with Circe that we should bring our kind together. For strength, I think it could work out well."

At the girl's response, Chandra broke out into laughter. It was not cold, nor was it cruel, derisive laughter, but an honest laugh. "Such a wit! Oh, young lady, you're pretty much perfection. Ares, you've done a wonderful job with her. I can't think of a thing you could have done better. I'm happy to have met you, Circe. You honor our kind, you know that? Honestly, and you can believe me when I say I'm being honest, you're the best cub I've ever met."

Circe tilted her head at the female, "Is it possible I am the only cub you have met? Or ratherI should be flattered with your words. If so I am thrilled to think that I am so high in your eyes." She nodded her head looking back up to her father. "Are you going to teach my your tricks of trade with healing? Father has taught me some hunting skills, but I'm a better fisher than anything." she admitted. She was proud that she could catch fish. Not a lot of lions, let alone cubs could.

Chandra's smile dropped a bit. "Sadly, you are not the only cub I've met... I have a sister, and all of her cubs are failures, especially when compared to an accomplished young lady like yourself. And you seem to have more skill than the rest of my family's most recent generation. It takes a lot of patience to catch a fish- I never figured it out until I was significantly older than you. And I'm still not the best at it, but even a follower of Da'lin can't be the best at everything" She willed herself to be happy once again, but the thought of the Zahina bastards put a bad taste in her mouth. "And yes, I do believe that I will teach you healing. Perhaps today... although..." she looked up at the sky. It had grown dark, and the humidity had spiked- even her fur felt heavy. "Do you think it looks like rain? I do." She looked at Ares and cocked her head. "I can't teach herbology and healing in the rain- it makes things far too complicated, and most herbs need to be kept dry to be immediately useful."

Ares looked to the skies and nodded solemly, "I believe so, perhaps we should look for sheltar," he insisted, rain really wasn't his thing. He could deal with it, but he'd perfer Circe not be in the cold and catch something. He had heard horror stories of cubs catching things from the cold. He looked to Chandra, "I appreciate you doing this for me, for us." He got to his feet and Circe followed suit, "I wouldn't know anything about herbology, perhaps I'll learn a thing or two," he joked. He was usually pretty good at taking care of himself, though he doubted he would go looking for plants to help heal. Maybe he could con Circe into it.

"For such a strong warrior as yourself, talents like mine are rarely needed. But having such skill is useful, especially when you have somebody else to worry about, like cubs." Chandra rose gingerly to her feet, doing her best to keep her grace and flow into a standing position. She dipped her head to him, respectfully, rubbing her forehead under his chin. "Thank you for letting me meet your daughter. I look forward to teaching her soon." Dropping herself to eye level with the little girl, she winked friendlily. "And thank you for coming today. It was my pleasure to meet you." She rose again, nodding amicably at Ares. "You've got a great kid there. I hope you'll let me be in her life as much as possible." She remembered something her mother had said once, how sometimes things were more important to a male than food. It was obvious that Ares cared a great deal for his little girl. "I must return back to my place and bring a few things inside before the storm hits, but perhaps, if the sun is shining, we can meet tomorrow at the same place? I'll bring a few basic herbs with me, and we can begin."

Ares nodded, "It sounds fine to me, if the rain surpasses to the next day we'll be here when the weather is nice." Ares was very protective of his little girl after all she was his blood. She looked more like her mother though. But the blood of the da'lin was much stronger. Ares cared for three things, his cubs survival, his mates survial and his own survival. At the current time it was only he and Circe he had to worry about. Though Chandra was growing closer he was uncertain he would take her in his protection just yet. Though he did consider her somewhat a friend, he wasn't going to let anything bad happen to her if she were around. Perhaps in their future meetings he would see if she were interested him, but for now she and he were concerned for Circe's welfare which was okay with him. "We will see you then," Ares added he took a bow to take his leave from the female.

Anybody could see that the look of gratitude was sincere in Chandra's eyes. "Yes; I will see the two of you then. Until next time, all my best wishes go with you." She bowed in reply as she said the words, then turned slowly. Everything was working out as planned. She'd use the father and the daughter to get at them both, and then she'd have them. They'd be hers. The next step was seducing him into staying by her side... but that could wait for another day.
